  • The Catholic View for Women says “CNN is reporting that, according to a study published in the journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) or progesterone-releasing IUD, may be associated with a higher than expected incidence of breast cancer.” The jury still appears to be out on this one, but CVW wonders if women will be given this information of potential risk:

What caught my eye, though, is that levonorgestrel, a hormone that regulates ovulation, is also the used in the Plan B contraceptive, better known as the morning after pill. Millions of American women are now going to receive the IUD and Plan B free, thanks to Obamacare, and most of them will have no idea they could be increasing their risk of breast cancer.

Is it possible that most women are unaware of the health risks associated with hormonal contraception in general?

Stanek weekend question: Should pro-lifers support OTC sale of contraceptive pills?

Should hormonal contraception be available OTC?AllahPundit at HotAir.com poses this as a political question: Should the GOP support over-the-counter sales of birth control pills?

I’d like to ask the same of pro-lifers. Be sure to take the poll at the bottom of this post.

To boil AllahPundit’s thoughts down, now that the Supreme Court has ruled closely held for-profit corporations do not have to pay for abortion-causing contraceptives, the Obama administration could force insurance companies to provide them “free” (spread the cost among all insurance payees) or force taxpayers to foot the bill (actually, more of the bill we already foot through so-called “family planning” funding).

Left’s anger over Hobby Lobby not about access to medicine

by Kelli

hobbylobbyprotest3

Again, Hobby Lobby’s health plan pays for birth-control pills, vaginal rings, contraceptive patches, and other items to help female employees plan their pregnancies. The Left’s arguments to the contrary are — surprise, surprise — lies.

What Hobby Lobby will not cover are four contraceptive methods that its owners fear are abortifacients:

Colorado funds confidential birth control for 12-year-olds

by Kelli A yearlong investigation in Colorado uncovered shocking information. Colorado state law allows children to have access to “reproductive health services” without needing their parents’ knowledge or consent first. And at these “BC4U” — Birth Control 4 You — clinics, funded by taxpayers, children as young as 12 are able to get birth control […]

Could your hormonal contraceptive disable or kill you? (YES)

Emily Letts opposes hormonal birth control pillRemember Emily Letts, the woman who filmed her own abortion?

Letts was willing to engage in unprotected hook-up sex, and willing to submit to an abortion, but one thing even she considered too risky was the birth control pill, as she explained to Cosmopolitan:

  • Big Blue Wave says a new study acknowledges that “widespread and increased availability of oral emergency contraception over the past 10-14 years has made little difference to rates of unintended pregnancy, abortion and repeat abortion amongst teenagers.” However, the conclusion from this is that teens must now try another form of birth control – the IUD.

Pay no attention to how great Planned Parenthood thought Plan B was 5 minutes ago

Just notice its sparkly new (and expensive) Plan C

2013-12-10_1105In 2005, after the FDA under President George W. Bush resisted liberal pressure to make the hormonal emergency contraceptive Plan B available over-the-counter, Planned Parenthood was furious, claiming unfettered access to hormonal ECs would cut the number of abortions in America by a whopping 67%, from 1.2 million annually to 400,000:
