• At Reproductive Research Audit, Dr. Jacqueline Harvey dismantles three popular myths about the Hobby Lobby case against the HHS Mandate.

On March 29 the National Right to Life Committee announced it was disaffiliating Georgia Right to Life.

In the same statement NRLC announced it was credentialing a new state pro-life organization, Georgia Life Alliance.

Read NRLC’s press release here, but its rationale for severing ties with GRTL boiled down to insubordination: GRTL had publicly attempted to thwart two pieces of NRLC’s “top-priority federation legislation,” the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act last year, and the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act this year.

In its statement, NRLC subtly responded to GRTL’s reason for defying its parent organization, which was that GRTL opposed the rape/incest exceptions in the aforementioned bills:

• Americans United for Life is glad that a higher court upheld the Fifth Circuit Court’s ruling on Texas’ abortion clinic regulations:
  

  “Women in Texas will now be protected from abortion industry misuse of life-ending drugs and will be provided greater protections from deadly events inside under-regulated, under-monitored and under-supervised clinics, run by profiteers,” said Dr. [Charmaine] Yoest. “I’m not surprised that an all-woman panel of judges understood the nuances of laws designed to protect women.”

• ProWomanProLife recommends a blog post by pro-lifer Matt Walsh entitled, “I paid to have babies murdered and all I got was this coat hanger necklace?” Walsh writes:

So… [d]o we concentrate on nurturing, sheltering, clothing, protecting, blessing, and loving our fellow human beings?   I’m not sure what they were going for, but to me it symbolizes the myth of the “safe” abortion. We pretend that the clinics provide a less hazardous experience than back alleys and coat hangers, but it’s all a charade. A show. A merciless ploy, and women are the victims.

  “Safe” abortions have killed at least 400 women…. A peer reviewed study, published in the British Journal of Psychiatry, found that women who’ve had abortions suffer from an 81 percent higher risk of mental health problems. Worst of all, the suicide rate among these women is tragic and startling.

  Safe? Safe for who, exactly? Safe for the abortionists, I guess.

• Pro-Life in TN shares an article by David French at National Review Online that captures the hubris and “me first” mindset of many who support abortion on demand:
  

  I’m still shaking my head at Wendy Davis — not that she lied about her biography (sometimes it seems as if every politician springs out of some kind of heroic narrative) — but that she, as a very young lawyer doing the simple, ordinary work that thousands of young lawyers do, conceded custody of her child on the grounds that “it’s not a good time for me right now” to be the custodial parent.

  I’m also shaking my head at the president of the United States, speaking on the anniversary of the legalized killing of tens of millions of children, justifying this slaughter because it gives the former parents the ability to “fulfill their dreams.”

• The current CEO of Massachusetts Planned Parenthood is a former legislator who sponsored abortion clinic buffer zone legislation. There’s one problem with this. It’s against Massachusetts’ law:
  

  Furthermore, the law has specific restrictions once people leave state employment. There is a “forever ban” on working for anyone other than the state on a matter that an individual worked on as a state employee….

  “It would appear that former State Representative Walz is covered by the definition of this statue. State Representative Walz was the leading sponsor of the Buffer Zone Law, and then was hired to a position directly related to the Buffer Zone Law that has paid $250,000 per year,” Lyons says in his joint letter with Lombardo to the attorney general.

In a surprising but welcome move, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Preibus is, according to The Washington Times:

… delaying the start of the party’s annual winter meeting so he and other committee members can join the March for Life on the Mall….

Mr. Priebus, in his second term as elected chairman of the Republican National Committee, chose to delay the start of the four-day winter meeting of the GOP governing body, also scheduled in Washington, to allow himself and RNC members to attend the march. The delay is unprecedented for a major U.S. political party, several state Republican Party chairmen and other RNC members said in telephone interviews.

Mr. Priebus also decided that the RNC will charter a bus to and from the march for those among the RNC’s 168 members who wish to attend….

I’m, of course, pleased by this visible show of support by the RNC. It will certainly garner the March for Life much deserved attention that MSM usually avoids while demonstrating some respect for the pro-life issue at the Republican leadership level. That this is even news demonstrates the perceived lack thereof. Were Chairman Preibus’s counterpart, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, to announce she were attending an abortion fest sponsored by Planned Parenthood, the response would be, “But, of course.”
