Kermit who? Abortion zealots still claim emergency access to clinics unnecessary

20120121-191413One of many complaints abortion supporters have against clinic regulations, which they call TRAP laws – Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers – is a requirement for wider doors and hallways than clinics apparently usually have.

“At no point does the width of doorways have any bearing on the medical treatment that’s being administered,” griped Planned Parenthood of Indiana Executive Director Betty Cockrum to jconline.com.

  • Expose Abortion has a haunting quote from former abortion practitioner Susan Thayer, discussing how abortion providers must be gradually desensitized to the grisly work of abortion:

I walked into the surgical suite and headed toward the foot of the exam table. I was stopped and told to sit in a chair by the door because, they said, nearly everyone who watches the first time, can’t take it and either get sick or faint. Once you make it through one abortion, you are allowed to gradually move closer to the patient, therefore seeing more of the procedure.

  • TIME provides more information on the teenage couple in Texas who sued to prevent the young woman’s parents from forcing her to have an abortion:

The baby is due Sept. 16. According to [the baby’s father] Evan, he and R.E.K. — they began dating last summer — knew right away they would have the baby. “We’ve always been against abortion,” says Evan, who wants to become a welder (R.E.K. wants to attend nursing school). “As soon as we found out she was pregnant, we knew we wanted to keep it.”

… It remains to be seen just how involved the girl’s parents will be with their new grandchild. While Burnside and her husband, who is not Evan’s biological father, are being supportive, the girl’s parents may find it harder to play a role: days after the judge’s ruling, Evan, a high school sophomore, married his pregnant girlfriend, a junior, in what Burnside calls a “shotgun” wedding.

Pro-aborts fume about ultrasound legislation that mirrors Planned Parenthood’s protocol

up_7fr0lnUPDATE 3:50p: From Huffington Post, today:

Indiana state senators have dropped a requirement that would force women to undergo an ultrasound procedure both before and after having a medication-induced abortion, after the legislation attracted national criticism.

Could it be legislators added that second ultrasound to have something to compromise on and still get what they really wanted? Or maybe it was accidental. Still, an ultrasound bill moves forward.

10:09a: I read a piece last week by RH Reality Check’s Robin Marty complaining about pending ultrasound legislation in Indiana, which…

Pro-aborts succeed in making ultrasound legislation radioactive – NOT

2012-03-06_1027-e1331059618165

Last year abortion proponents attempted to make ultrasound legislation radioactive by portraying the method used for early pregnancies, transvaginal ultrasound, as “rape.”

Vaginal probes,” as the other side menacingly tagged them, are “a very invasive procedure,” according to NBC’s David Gregory.

Hey angry feminists, believe it

On January 28 Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast (currently being sued for Medicaid fraud) featured author and founder of the blog Feministing, Jessica Valenti, at its 40th Anniversary Roe v. Wade Luncheon. Valenti’s speech was about being an “angry feminist,” and during it she showed the following photo, explaining, “It really perfectly captures the sentiment […]

Why abortion proponents agree they are losing

On this, the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Time magazine’s perspective is that legalized abortion is on a losing path. And I haven’t found anyone on the other side who disagrees. Quick example, NARAL’s email heading this morning:

What makes abortion proponents think this gloom and doom, despite their hard-fought presidential victory?

In a nutshell: federalism, the growing pile of state anti-abortion laws….

The title of the January 14 issue of Time magazine reads, “40 years ago, abortion-rights activists won an epic victory with Roe v. Wade. They’ve been losing ever since.”
