Tiller tattlers score one
On August 10 the Hays Daily News reported that Sedgwick County, KS, Chief Criminal Judge Gregory Waller said, “I don’t see any reason to respond,” to charges by pro-lifers he could not remain unbiased in the case against late-term abortionist George Tiller on 19 misdemeanor charges.
Hays News reported that two of Tiller’s attorneys endorsed Waller’s reelection in 1998. One of those attorneys also contributed $500 to Waller’s campaign in 1998, the maximum allowed, and $275 last year.
Later that day came this press release sent by Operation Rescue….
Oral arguments were heard today in a motion to dismiss 19 charges of illegal abortions against late-term abortionist George R. Tiller. The hearing was scheduled before Judge Gregory Waller, but was moved to the courtroom of Judge Anthony Powell this morning after the Associated Press published an article based on information released by Operation Rescue that revealed that Waller had received political contributions from Tiller attorney Daniel Monnet.
Judge Powell indicated at the onset of the hearing that an amicus brief had been filed by 20 Kansas Legislators in favor of the prosecution. He disclosed that he had served in the Legislature and that at least two of them may have given him campaign contribution in his initial campaign for judge. Both the Attorney General’s counsel and Tiller’s attorneys indicated that they did not object and trusted that those contributions would not affect the court’s decision.
The Associated Press added this insight, a couple hours ago:
The fate of a high-profile abortion provider now rests with a judge who once was one of his most vocal opponents in the Legislature.

He’ll probably buy his way out of his criminal charges. I pray not. $ talks and BS walks.
I should have been fasting.
This is Teflon Tiller. No charges stick to him.
The charges against him are BS. The prosecution has to prove that Tiller and Neuhaus were financially connected with each other. I doubt they can do that.
In any event, the charges have nothing to do with his competence or skill or his treatement of patients.
It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Morrison filed these charges knowing that they are too weak to stand. He is a friend of Tiller’s, after all.
I bet it turns out that it’s all part of a plan.

I sadly have to agree with you SoMG.
If I recall correctly, Neuhaus was the whisle blower on the links between her and Tiller. If that is the case, and she hadn’t been bought out,she will almost certainly have records of their financial ties.
I have absolutely nothing constructive to say here, but I just have to put in this thought. How convenient was it that this man’s last name was Tiller? I mean, going into such a controversial profession, the poor guy was begging for the nickname “Tiller the Killer.” Kind of like if you name your kid Hannibal… you’re sort of asking for a cannibal. But I’ve got “Silence of the Lambs” on the brain, so my post can be largely ignored.
I have to go! This website is such a distraction. What a great excuse to procrastinate.
Sort of like Clinton being named Willie, or Linda Tripp being named Tripp.
Or SoMG being called SmOG or SmAUG or SmUG or SlUG…
or captin kirk

I just read an e-biography on Tiller. It claimed that both his parents and his brother were killed in a plane crash. It was after the crash that he began performing abortions.
Lauren, I had also heard that his father was an abortionist.
He must really want to see his father again.
According to the news article I read Tiller is facing misdemeanor charges –
That is what this article says as well, TXRed.
SOMG, 9:47p, said: “The charges against him are BS. The prosecution has to prove that Tiller and Neuhaus were financially connected with each other. I doubt they can do that.”
Tiller isn’t saying that wasn’t true, SOMG. His defense is saying the law stating the person giving the 2nd opinion can’t be financially connected is unconstitutional. He’s admitting his financial connection.
I don’t think that’s right, Jill. I read that his lawyers denied a financial affiliation.
The Eagle flies left
The Wichita Eagle has an editorial today calling on late-term abortionist George Tiller’s new judge, Tony Powell, to recuse himself from the high profile case against Tiller. Tiller is charged with 19 misdemeanor counts for violating a KS law mandating…
