Blogs 4 Life conference in DC Tuesday
Well, I’m very excited. MK and I are flying to DC this afternoon, with blog friends Sandy and moderator Jacque not too far behind.
The annual gathering on January 22 of pro-lifers in DC on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision has become both a commemoration of death and celebration of life. I so look forward to seeing friends I only see once a year from around the country whose special bond is the sanctity of life. It’s a time to let one’s guard down, to commisserate, to all speak the same language, most notably the phrase “pro-abort”… :)
Plus I’ll get to see my daughter Daena, who works and lives in DC. As a matter of fact, we 4 are staying in her already cramped 425 square foot efficiency apartment, where we’ll all get to know each other much, much better…. :)
And I’m particularly excited about the Third Annual Blogs4Life Conference (blogs4life.com ), scheduled for January 22 at Family Research Council headquarters….
Info, from Prolifeblogs.com:
The Family Research Council is providing a first class meeting facility just a few blocks from the annual March for Life, the massive pro-life event which draws tens of thousands of pro-lifers (some estimate the crowd at well over 100,000) . A morning session is scheduled before the March with over a dozen well-known pro-life speakers including Kevin McCullough, Jill Stanek, Judie Brown, Eric Scheidler, Barbara Curtis, Dawn Eden, Phill Kline, Michael New, Michael Illions, Maggie Datiles, Michelena Fredenburg, Peter Shinn and Rep. Chris Smith.
Yes, it will be action-packed and lively!
JLS note: There will be live streaming of the blog conference for those in cyberspace. I don’t know the coordinates yet but will let you know. FRC has greatly expanded its bandwidth for this. Last year it couldn’t handle all the people trying to watch the conference via Internet and its system crashed. I will also be live blogging as often as I can. Confinuing on with the PLB announcement….
An afternoon session from Noon to 4 PM will be held in a luxurious room close to the Capitol building overlooking the March for Life. [See photos right and below.]
Internet access will be provided for live-blogging and a 50-inch flat screen monitor will broadcast the Rally and March for Life as it occurs. In addition, several pro-life leaders will be available for interviews and commentary.
If you plan to attend, please let us know by registering at Blogs4Life.com. Space in the afternoon session is limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tuesday, Jan 22, 2008: Interdenominational Prayer Service for Life
will there be pizza and beer or not?
Let’s get our priorities straight.
Hal,
Punch and cookies.
Seriously, it’s a good event, I’d recommend it to everyone, especially if you’ve never been to one.
Uh oh, Jill and MK together….are you going to be gossiping behind our backs, girls? ;)
Annnnnnd Jacquie…oh no!!
:D
I will be praying for all of you and can’t wait to read about it! Well, I’ll read about it here but not in any of the newspapers.
Jill –
Did you read this today? My friend emailed this to me today.
Dear Marie,
For 13 years without interruption the US Senate hosted the annual National Memorial for the Pre-born, the only fully dressed interdenominational prayer service held inside the US Capitol complex on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
BUT NOT THIS YEAR! SINCE NEVADA SENATOR HARRY REID TOOK OVER, THE NEW PRO-ABORTION SENATE LEADERSHIP HAS SHOWN PRO-LIFE CHURCH LEADERS THE COLD SHOULDER!
oooh, wish I lived close to DC, I’d love to go. I will be at the memorial march here in Atlanta GA though.
Jenny Hodgens will be there too, she’s national director of ProLife Unity. She’s organized many pro-life events here in GA, and I had the privledge of meeting her and her SIX little ones while praying at a mill during 40Days for Life.
Have fun Jill!! Can’t wait to read all about it.
I’m so jealous..I wanna goooooo!
I’ll look forward to news that all this time, effort and money did one bit of good (and you can define “good.”)
If there was at least going to be beer and pizza I could understand….
Jill, MK, and Jacque.
Oh no.
We need pictures, ladies, pictures.
And say hi to Fr. Pavone for me.
Lucky dogs, you.
Hal,
How do you know there WON’T be beer and pizza? You’re just jealous, it’s okay. I won’t tell anyone.
Hey! If you go to the pro-life rally, you can party with Donna Holman of Missionaries to the Preborn!
Oh wait, never mind…
SOMG and Doug, the previous post was archiving so
i am posting this here. This was from the killing girls blog:

The sensationalism about so-called “coerced abortions” is just another excuse for government to interfere with the patients’ decisions.

Agreed, SoMG. Coercion, either way, is not what Pro-Choicers want.

These girls did NOT want to get abortions. They were told they needed to get the abortion cause they could not support a baby. What movie were you guys watching? Couldn’t your hear the girl crying over and over “Mom, do I have to do this, why?” And the abortionist was saying the girls that scream like that are cowards. There was definitely coercion going on there. In the US it is more financially based discrimination. The statistics show plain and simple that the vast majority of abortions are performed on lower income women. Our health care/insurance system is more than happy to remove the “burden” for the poor to prevent paying benefits on another dependent later. I blame the selfish deadbeat fathers for a lot of this. They should be there for these women. Abortion is evil.

Brothers and sisters: You know the time; it is the hour now for you to awake from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed; the night is advanced, the day is at hand. Let us throw off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us conduct ourselves properly as in day, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and lust, not in rivalry and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.
Romans 13:11-14
Leaving out all of the important FACTS about abortion is also coercion. If I would have seen the ultrasound, a fetal model, been stopped by a sidewalk counselor, given hope through financial assistance, diapers, clothes, support….my 17 year old would be here!!
I was also told that abortion is the only way to go for me. That it was the best decision in my case. That was from the abortion sales rep. Not coercion, eh?
Okay, how crazy is this? Jill and I are sitting next to each other in the dark, on Daena’s futon, each with our own laptop…drinkin’ coffee and reading these posts…mind boggling!
Site seeing today and Sandy will join us tonight!I wish you could ALL BE here…well, maybe not SoMG…but EVERYONE else!
I had a martini last night…I’m too cool…tres chic!
Awww I am so jealous! I wish so badly I could have come! Maybe next year….
Bethany,
You and I shall be there!
Could you and other praying types pray for me today?
I am sharing my abortion story with Silent No More at the St. Capitol. Standing with other sisters and brothers in Christ who have come to regret abortion.
Peace.
Carla,
What state are you in? Will there be a video?
Carla, prayers headed your way.
I am in WI, but am closer to the St. Paul Capitol in MN. Not sure about video….I will check.
Thank you Bethany.
Carla,
I will definatetly be praying for you. Remeber, we never need to fear what to say for the Holy Spirit will direct us:) You go girl!!:)

6:24 am ? you guys are early risers.
There’s alot nice places, museums, etc to visit in DC. Have a nice time.
Hi MK.
listened to all the videos U-tube had about this movie and one thing is commonly expressed. https://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2008/01/the_business_of.html#comments During childbirth a whole array of hormones are released for the lady right after delivery … my friend calls it such a rush, ‘you feel like you could run a marathon’.
‘Modern-hospital’ delivery seems interfere with this hormone cascade somewhat and may induce ‘problems’ that a natural birth meets. I am fascinated by the aspect of empowerment … a ‘mother bear’ effect and highly protective feelings.
Perhaps ‘this’ is the culprit lost and never missed because passivity is a hallmark of most medical procedures. IMO very little is ‘demanded’ of doctors.
Ray poses a most intriguing question here – post#35. Perhaps, this is one arena both sides can work together on … the healthy development/delivery of a baby.
Suggestion for easing delivery :::: slippery elm + flax seeds + chia seed + hemp nuts.

I find that most trying physical/emotional ordeals can be facilitated with a healthy dose of hemp.
Then maybe some Doritos and white grapes…

Wow. Your house must be packed full of Ginsu Knives, Magic Putty, Samurai Sharks, Chia Pets, pasta strainers and Clappers.
You clearly can’t resist the power of SALES REPS!

Get over yourself, Laura.

Gee, I think it’s about time people started giving me cash, clothes, free medical care and hobby gear.
Do you know how many horses I’d have if you people would just GET WITH THE PROGRAM!
I’ve had sex, and now the rest of you owe me lots of money!

ff, There is no need for you to feel like you need to kill your baby cause you are afraid you won’t be able to provide it with the necessities. I’ll be glad to help with food. clothing etc. I don’t see how a horse will help though.
FF,
You just don’t get it do you?
Bethany and Tara,
Silent No More was great! Thank you for praying!
Carla, I’m so happy to hear it went well! :)

TS, I do not think that people should have kids if they cannot support them. Certainly – I agree that both parents should pay for child support. Doctors should not be telliing people they are cowards or othewise coercing them.
