New poll/Old poll
The new poll question is up and has to do with last week’s Gloucester High School pregnancy pact story:
What would you do if your teen attended a high school where some girls made a pact to get pregnant? Pick up to 3 answers.
[HT: Greta Van Susteren]
Just as with last week’s poll, some readers wondered if liberals were raiding the site to skew the answers…
And just as with last week’s poll, it turned out our overseas friends were actually the ones doing the skewing. Don’t know why more green flags didn’t show up other than the poll only displays the 1st 500 responses.

As always, make comments to either this or last week’s poll here, not on the Vizu website.
“Raiding”? Right. I really can’t even comment, that’s just silly. Lord in heaven…
Hello, I’m a raiding Liberal and I’m here to rape and pillage your website. Is now a good time?
I think it’s funny that you keep blaming liberals for everything.
AHA! I captured Rae!
Oh noez!
*strangled cry*
I think that it is quite clear that the peoples of the western border of Europe, the Middle East and Eastern Africa are plotting something nefarious with the eastern peoples of Asia and Australia against you. @@
People all over the world care about… saving it?
Yes, indeed, caring about the environment…it must be some sort of conspiracy against Jill Stanek.
LOL Amanda.
OMG, where are all the yellows? what the heck is going on? These nuts think abortion is good for the environment? wow.
Jasper, using “OMG” is not cool. You’re a touch to old to be using fun acronyms.
*done gentle ribbing*
It’s the insidious liberal agenda.
How dare we care about the planet we live in?????
“You’re a touch to old to be using fun acronyms.”
LOL Rae.
Yes, trees are far more important than babies.
Edyt, no swearing allowed, hence your post was deleted. Rules here:

Jasper, I noticed my yellow and orange flags are not showing up on the page. Maybe there are many missing, since Jill said that only a portion of the votes show up on the page.
How dare we care about the planet we live in?????
So do you believe abortion is good for the environment, JK?
Actually, this poll showed the truth of the matter about why people want abortion. Extreme liberal people believe that “the environment” is way more important than people. Killing children, in their eyes = “caring” for the environment.
Oh by the way, killing toddlers, teenagers, mothers, fathers, grandfathers, etc….that would all be “good for the environment” too, in much the same way as abortion.
Well I’m glad I didn’t kill my children! I have two graduating this week! Hooray.
Gr 8 today
Gr 12 tomorrow
God bless both of them and all children moving on to a new phase in their lives!
Bethany: I believe there is a group of people whose goal is to eradicate humans from the planet. Can’t remember the organization – maybe someone can help.
Patricia, yes it’s called the “Voluntary Human Extinction” group.
http://www.vhemt.org/
My first thought when I see that site is, “why not just kill yourself, people?”
Their response to that question, as it is asked often, is that they want to recruit as many people into their extinction program before they die. It’s just craziness.
Is it possible for liberals on this site to debate without taking words out of context, wildly exaggerating, and/or purposefully missing the point?
I dunno. The flag that was my vote is blue. Not how I voted. Weird.

Nope. It’s my opinion that most of them are seriously brain damaged and therefore cannot understand the proper syntax of the English language. Grow up and get use to it Jill!! sheesh!
OOkkkkayyy Bethany. That is pretty darn strange. Seeing as there are VAST areas of Canada empty, this strategy makes good sense (oh brother).
Patricia, what I find really ironic is reading some of the questions and answers in their faq. Check this one out:
“Q: Are you really serious?
We’re really vehement.
Many see humor in The Movement and think we can’t be serious about voluntary human extinction, but in spite of the seriousness of both situation and movement, there’s room for humor. In fact, without humor, Earth’s condition gets unbearably depressing — a little levity eases the gravity.
True, wildlife rapidly going extinct and 40,000 children dying each day are not laughing matters, but neither laughing nor bemoaning will change what’s happening. We may as well have some fun as we work and play toward a better world.
Besides, returning Earth to its natural splendor and ending needless suffering of humanity are happy thoughts — no sense moping around in gloom and doom.”
Um, considering what their goal is…wouldn’t 40,000 children dying each day be a GOOD thing? lol
I seriously don’t think these people have the ability to think logically at all.
To really view VHE’s twisted logic read this:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2005/11/16/gree.DTL
Did you know we have a natalist culture (with 1.5 million abortions/year, that’s hard to swallow)?
Children embody environmental orginal sin?
Patricia, they are totally brainwashed. That is so sad!
Hi Bethany, Hi Patricia,
I shouldn’t be surprised anymore by the whacked out ideas and causes people have. But I am!!
We are in a moral freefall. God help us.
I wouldn’t take the VHE guys seriously. They’re an extreme fringe group of kooks, few environmentalists would associate with. I would say they are to environmentalists what Fred Phelps is to Baptists.
Carla: the sad thing is that there are a lot of young people buying this crap.
When I was in library school, I met a really nice young man in his 30’s. He was from BC Canada and he was so environmentally conscious that he rode a bike everywhere (no problem with this), carried a bucket with him to put his food scraps into (not kidding) and told me he would like to be a father some day but didn’t know really what to do because this would be so environmentally damaging. He wanted only one kid.
Thankfully while these people won’t breed and therefore will die out, the rest of us will and saner heads will prevail.
Could be, Andrew, you might be right…but then again, look at all the people who said that abortion is good for the environment.
Hi Carla! Hope you’re having a good morning.
Hi Bethany! I am packing for Texas to be on the show Faces of Abortion. Trying not to flip out.
Carla: What is Faces of Abortion? Is it women/men who’ve experienced abortion?
Maybe you should invite SoMG since he/she doesn’t seem to believe that any woman could possibly regret their abortions especially the ones she does since she’s so perfect at counselling them and such a thoughtful wonderful kind abortionist.
It is a tv show that features women, men and former abortionists that have regrets.

You will be in my prayers on Wed Carla.
Please remember me too. I have an ultrasound that day and I’m scared!
Thank you, Patricia.
Are you ok? You can email me if you would like. I will pray for you as well.
BTW: I called my doctor this morning – got the ultrasound on wed and the physical exam on July 15th.
Could have had the latter sooner but can’t due to work.
Thank goodness for Canadian health care!!
Thank you Carla. I think I will be fine. I in the perimenopause phase of life so things can go crazy every so often. I’ve been very lucky. I spoke with my doctor this morning on the phone. I am so lucky to have such a great doctor. He was very comforting.
I just hate tests. I’m not to great with having blood work etc.
I will be thinking about you though – you are very brave!!!
Carla, God bless you while you’re being taped! You are very brave!!
Carla, Patricia —> good luck.
Does bravery include throwing up at the thought of tv studio? :O
“a tv studio”

traits such as environmentalism are not genetic. Hence, many people have different views on these things than their parents. You can’t breed out of society people who think having children is bad for the environment.
No one is saying the loss is genetic, but ideology certainly has something to do with reproductive trends.
I would guess that liberal parents are very likely to raise like-minded liberal adults. Environmentalism would fall under the umbrella of liberal causes, IMO. Therefore, when two environmentally conscious liberal moms and dads get together and have just one baby or NO babies, they are not reproducing as quickly as other couples with an opposing view.
If the trend continues long enough, poof! they’re gone.
Jasper, Janet, thank you for your support!
:-D
Hal: I simply meant what Janet so eloquently wrote in her 11:38 am post!
Our effects upon the planet are making many concerned-about-the-environment people. People do tend to follow their parents in belief, but the climate and weather and supplies of water and food are for everybody.
Whether you think a person has a lot of effect on the world, or a little, it only makes sense that the more people there are, the greater the effect.
“some readers wondered if liberals were raiding the site” ~~ now that is really quite funny.
Without saying that abortion is good or bad, it still makes sense that abortion is good for the environment, and the poll results reflect that.
Many children, seeing that their parents are not concerned about the environment, go the other way.
OMG, where are all the yellows? what the heck is going on? These nuts think abortion is good for the environment? wow.
Posted by: jasper at June 23, 2008 3:04 AM
The nuts would think that abortion is not good for the environment. Obviously it is, and this is before we give opinions on whether we are for legal abortion or not.

Hahaha yes, it’s funny, isn’t it?

Alarica rules all.
Welcome, Helmmut.
Are you here from Europe?
Your perspective will keep things lively around here, I’m sure.
We tend to ask for proof, so would you be able to cite where it says, scientifically speaking, that abortion is good for the environment?
Or did you arrive at this opinion on your own?
Well the interesting thing about all this is that Eastern European countries have had rampant abortion for years. Russia is now a dying country. Yet, with their population dearth, and nonexist population growth, this part of the world is probably the most polluted on the earth.
We are to use the earth and its resources in a responsible manner and its readily apparent that many people have not done this. Companies have the bottom line of profit without the concern for workers or the environment. Western nations also consume the bulk of the earth’s resources with little sharing to those less fortunate than ourselves.
However, given all this, it is a person’s perspective that ultimately makes the difference. If you believe that God created man, than you would also likely believe that the earth can hold many many persons. Much more than are even alive today.
The answer is not to have less people but to have less pollution, waste and corruption. This means finding and developing people-friendly solutions, not aborting our future.
Helmmut, out of curiousity (if you were one of the voters in the above poll) I’m curious what forum or blog posted the link which you followed to vote on Jill’s poll?
it turned out our overseas friends were actually the ones doing the skewing. Don’t know why more green flags didn’t show up other than the poll only displays the 1st 500 responses.
****
With Vizu only the last choice shows up as a colored “flag.”
So if you vote green then blue, as most people apparently did, then you will show up as blue.
No “skewing,” though, by people overseas, since if you look at the continental US itself, you will see that blue dominates over any other color.
Patricia, I must have missed your post about the ultrasound Wednesday…I wanted to wish you well. I hope that everything works out okay!
Speaking of talking to our kids and what we’d let them do, this caught my eye a couple days ago when Jill’s site was down.
Neighbor Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Girls
POSTED: 5:52 pm EDT June 21, 2008
NEWARK, Del. — Delaware authorities arrested a man on suspicion of sexually assaulting two girls during a sleepover early Friday morning.
Investigators said Alva Calhoun, 65, invited four girls to spend the night at his home. Police said he sexually assaulted two of the girls, ages 9 and 10, while they were sleeping.
The four girls then fled the home and told their parents about the attack, police said.
The victims live near him in Brookside Park in Newark.
Calhoun was arrested on charges of first-degree rape and second-degree rape and also faces four counts of unlawful sexual contact.
I gotta wonder what in the heck the parents of four girls of any age, let alone 9 and 10 year olds, are doing letting the kids go to a “sleepover” at the home of a 65 year old guy….
Wondering the same thing myself, Doug!!!
Doug,
When I was an RA on campus, one of my residents, a very pretty young woman of 18 (she actually ended up on America’s Next Top Model), had over an older man of probably 40 or 50 years old. One of the security guards alerted me to the situation and I went up and had a little talk about her bringing people of such an age into the dorms, where she was risking not only her own safety, but that of her roommates. She changed her story about three times about who he was (family friend… then some sushi chef she knew… some guy she met somewhere) and I finally was just like… “Look, I know he may seem cool, but there are lots of shady people in the world and I just want to know that you’re safe. And if your roommates ever feel uncomfortable about the people you bring over, they have every right to kick that guy out.”
It was really a scary situation, just because she seemed so naive about the dangers, and I think there are a lot of adults who underestimate unsafe situations.
Do you know what the relationship of that man was to the parents of those girls?
I gotta wonder what in the heck the parents of four girls of any age, let alone 9 and 10 year olds, are doing letting the kids go to a “sleepover” at the home of a 65 year old guy….
Doug, I completely agree. What kind of parents DO that?
Thank you Bethany! :-D
“Well the interesting thing about all this is that Eastern European countries have had rampant abortion for years. Russia is now a dying country. Yet, with their population dearth, and nonexist population growth, this part of the world is probably the most polluted on the earth.”
China is far worse, and big population growth was normal there for a long time.
Do you think that having more people in Russia would help the environment? Surely not….
I would like to see the children that are conceived through sexual intercourse in Russia be allowed to LIVE!!
Do you know what the relationship of that man was to the parents of those girls?
Edyt, I’ve now read that he was a neighborhood guy who had been friends with kids, and that he watched two of the girls during the summer, so a babysitter, I guess.
Kids called him “Uncle Al,” though they weren’t related.
……
What kind of parents DO that?
Bethany, parents that had gotten used to him being around and apparently just being a nice old guy, I reckon. There may be a bunch of other factors but I didn’t see any more information when I looked around this morning.
I’d want a parent to be there, and a mighty trustworthy one at that.

I would be leery of letting any child alone with an adult male babysitter. It’s not worth the risk. Sorry if that offends some males….
I agree Janet.
My husband is not comfortable with that either. :)
Just as with last week’s poll, some readers wondered if liberals were raiding the site to skew the answers…
LOL you have to be kidding. I wasn’t here to vote, but count me in for the next big “raid.”
I was trying to come up with a nicer word instead of “raid”. “Invade”?
Janet, you’re coming up against reality – that we do affect the earth.

Good points.
I think that the morality of abortion and the effect of abortion on the environment are often two different things, i.e. it’s not necessarily a “fight” between Pro-Lifers and environmentalists.
One might be totally against abortion but still realize that abortion is good for the environment in that it lessen’s humanity’s effect on the planet.
