Crying baby repeatedly interrupts Obama’s speech during abortion segment
Edwin Mora of CNS News noted an ironic coincidence that took place during President Obama‘s commencement address at Notre Dame last Sunday:
The distinct sound of a baby crying broke out in the capacious basketball arena where the Notre Dame commencement exercise was being held on Sunday when President Obama… began talking about abortion….
The baby’s cry was clearly heard in television broadcasts of Obama’s speech during that part of the address where the president spoke about abortion, and ended up saying that on this issue “the views of the two camps are irreconcilable.”

Perhaps the baby had objections to Obama’s “fair minded words” about abortion.
Or perhaps the baby was simply frightened.

JFK wrote his book before his election to give himself credibility because he lacked real life experience needed to be elected. I’m reminded of this when I think of Obama’s books. Write a book and you gain credibility. He never ran a company, but wa-la, he’s running the country.

My daughters are more “pro choice” than me.
That, and I think it shows egotism beyond bounds. Personally, I think megalomania should not be the defining character trait of ANY politician, let alone president. I mean…ONE book I might understand, but SEVERAL? All about him?! C’mon. Politicians are supposed to have the Nation’s and peoples’ well-being and goals in mind. Not how great THEY are. That’s dangerous.
On mom’s holding pro-abortion signs:
I’m certain it helps contribute to this sense of entitlement so prevalent in today’s youth, and their lack of understanding of what real love is that contributes to people like Casey Anthony and the very high divorce rate. It’s no longer “I love you.” but “I love you, WHEN” or “I love you, IF” I know there is no set of circumstances that ever would’ve kept me from loving my kids when I found out I was pregnant. That goes for my finances, how I happened to be feeling about their dad at the time, whatever.
And I’m not saying that this is exclusive to the pro-choicers, but that it appears this attitude is one of their primary motivations for abortion. Other than a high divorce rate, I can’t think of what might be emblematic to this attitude on the pro-life side.
This attitude in the whole of society is part of what has allowed abortion to flourish.

Considering your own position, that would be expected. I’d be willing to bet that one of Obama’s daughters grows up to be staunchly pro-life, as a result of Barak’s extremism. There’s hope with the next generation.

I listened to Obama’s words. He says several times we are not open minded. So if we were open minded, we would be able to have the same understanding as he does.
Surely anyone that disagrees with him is both closed minded and un educated.

Farslowe, please explain exactly how it is gratuitously vicious. What is more vicious than killing an unborn baby simply because it is inconvenient, deformed, or has a terminal diagnosis? I think that baby crying was divinely inspired. That baby was the voice for all babies who will lose their lives because this president thinks that they are a “punishment”.
As far as the comments at this site — unfortunately they can come from both sides.
If I were a senior at this graduation debacle, I would be more than P*@*%ed off if the commencement speech for my class had any mention of abortion politics. Nobama once again took a podium to spew his own contradictorial rhetoric crap that he himself can not honestly believe.
How does he think FOCA is a compromise? How does he think FOCA will reduce the number of abortions?
He couldn’t even compromise by allowing babies born alive after a failed abortion to live.
That could have been a good start.

It assures that no woman would ever be forced to have an abortion she didn’t want, and specifically says every woman has a fundamental right to choose to bear a child. Women who choose to have a child can’t be discriminated against.

Carla, I’m done with this semester! I have a week or so before summer classes start and I’m trying to find a job. But no, I don’t find it ‘ironic’. There were probably several babies in the crowd, odds are, one of them is gonna cry.
I don’t think anything happens by accident. I do not believe in karma or luck. I will call it divine intervention but only to bug Hal. :)

angel, I would probably support more restrictions in the second and third trimesters than they would. I would probably also be more open to the idea of parental notification regulations.

pbho is obsessed with giving the appearance that he is knows what he is doing and he is doing what he knows.
If left alone the country and the economy would pretty well run themselves.
A person with no understanding or preparation will unavoidably and accidentally mess things up.
A person, with bad intentions, and some understanding of how the system works can do severe and sometimes irreparable damage.

If you look at the statistics, the majority of the women who abort felt emotionally or physically forced to abort.
With so many freedoms for women to abort today, why are they passing FOCA?

I warned my children not to play with fire.
They might harm themselves or others.
As they get older I trust them to make sound decisions and, when they do not, to learn from their mistakes.
My 18 year old son asked me about marijuana the other day and I told him about my experiences, but I also warned him it was not a good road to go down.
Apart from being illegal, it is unwise to indulge in that sort of behavior.
It opens up a bunch of doors that are best left closed.
Kind of like that old Cheech and Chong routine, ‘Lets Make a Dope Deal’.

I volunteer at a CPC and a young teenager came in to find out she was pregnant. She wanted to keep her baby and stated she would never abort because it is murder.
Her loving parents who were in the lobby freaked out and told her out loud for all to hear
“she will not have that baby and if she doesn’t abort she will be kicked out of the house.”
How does FOCA protect this girl’s right to choose to carry her baby? I am guessing the state NARAL office was nowhere to be found to support this girl.
Pro-choicers never look beyond the bumper sticker slogans to really understand what they support.
There have been plenty of women who have come forward to testify that they were laying on the abortion table begging for the quacks to not do the procedure because they changed their mind.
The quacks just told them to shut up and be quiet as they knocked them out with drugs. How exactly does FOCA help these women?
Where is NARAL “pro-choice” for these women who made the choice to keep their babies?

So to those of you don’t think abortion isn’t all that bad, think about the way Angele was treated by the abortion staff at James pendergrafts death camp! Or considder if you will Sycloria Williams, and how she was treated by Dr. Rennelique(The butcher)! I wasn’t even supposed to even be alive! I only was given a two percent chance of sirviving, and when you flipently talk about abortion like this, it is like saying Babies like me have no vallue, and I personally find this offencive! Glad to hear that, Hal, but you do not understand FOCA. It would make the choice to abort a fundamental right which could not be taken away or modified.Any restriction you would support would not be enforceable in a court of law. Your beloved Obama doesn’t care what you want or what any father wants. He wants to preserve a woman’s right to abort any place, any time, for any reason.

Hey Heather! Join the club!
Just an aside. My baby sister–she’s about twenty-five now–begged for a dog when she was little. We lived in the city. Every year Dad and Mom would ask her what she wanted for her birthday, and every year she would say, “A dog.” And she had her own little annoying but effective ways of reminding my parents that, yes, she would like a dog. She was like the persistent widow in Jesus’ parable, but my parents were more righteous (and compassionate) than the judge.
We finally got a puppy, and my little sister carried out all her promises. My siblings and I also helped to walk it every day, mind you. Cinder was a cross between a German Shepherd and a Border Collie. She was gentle and affectionate and loved to play. Every afternoon she would wait for one of us to walk her–whining and barking–also straining at her leash, which Dad had attached to a movable pulley on an overhead wire in order to increase her mobility. We generally walked her twice a day, though not always.
Cinder’s barking was bothersome in our quiet neighbourhood so Dad bought a bark-control collar. It had a box to fit under Cinder’s chin to give her an electric shock whenever she barked. Cinder’s aborted bark would end in a sudden yelp, almost comical to listen to. When the battery ran out, Dad substituted a block of wood. It seemed to work, but perhaps by this time Cinder had learned her lesson.
Cinder went camping with us, but for a while Cinder refused to get in the car if it contained only one or two passengers. She had gone to the vet in the car, and she knew enough to know that she didn’t like going to the vet. (Perhaps she didn’t like our selection and would have recommended a better vetting process.) We had her fixed on one trip to the vet, so she never had any pups.
Cinder’s last trip in the car was to my uncle’s farm with my father. My sister had remained Cinder’s lifelong master, but Cinder was getting old and my sister worried about its increasingly bitchy disposition. When it snapped viciously at a neighbour kid who was poking it with a stick, my sister phoned up the vet to ask about putting it down. The vet and the other vets in the area refused as their policy was not to put down a healthy dog. When Dad shot it on my uncle’s farm, he said it was trusting to the end. “But she didn’t feel a thing,” he said. “She just fell over into the hole.”
Some neighbours were aghast. They were mostly pro-life Poles, but they had a hard time accepting my sister’s decision to kill the family pet. I’m not sure that one or two ever did. In my family, however, there was no disagreement. Cinder was an animal; we were people. We may kill animals, but not each other. Human life is special.
I relate this anecdote because I think that Hal and my Dad are alike in some ways. Dad realized that Cinder was an animal; he and my sister were being responsible pet-owners when they terminated its existence. Hal rightly believes that a tiny human embryo is no more self-aware than a polliwog; he’s concerned about not inflicting pain. It’s the Christian belief in the sanctity of human life at all stages of development that makes the difference between Dad and Hal.

Interesting observations. PC animal lovers may not get the message though. To some, animals are more human than we are.
