On Saturday, commenter and friend HisMan alerted me to a story and photo of a baby being delivered by emergency c-section after being shot and killed en utero through his mother. The shooting supposedly occurred during the rioting in Iran over the election of Ahmadinejad.

By Sunday morning the photo had been removed

The only reason I can show you the original story is because HisMan left it up on his computer all night Saturday. It was up and down too quickly to be cached.
It turns out this sweet little baby was apparently an innocent victim in the Iraq War in 2005, according to a source I’m not confident in (the anti-American Iraqi League).
But the bottom line is the baby wasn’t killed this weekend. A photo of his preborn murder was merely used to stimulate opposition against the current regime. (Think about that.)
photo beautiful baby.jpgI could go a couple different directions with this post but want to focus on the fact that this was simply a politically incorrect abortion. Had the mother, (who it was reported did not die) wanted her 8-month-old preborn son killed in America, so it would have been. (And then his photos wouldn’t have been politically correct.)
Late-term abortionist George Tiller, who himself was killed by a bullet, used a different sort of shot to murder late-term babies. Explains Gregg Cunningham of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform:

“Dr.” Tiller described on his website (which I reviewed before it was taken down) the process by which he would, with benefit of ultrasound guidance, plunge a long needle into the beating heart of a late term baby to induce a heart attack, with a drug called digoxin….
The Boston Globe, August 10, 2007, in an article titled “Shots assist in aborting fetuses,” with the subhead, “Lethal injections offer legal shield,” reported these lethal injection abortions are now being done to protect abortionists from criminal liability (it is, theoretically, not legal to kill a baby outside the womb) in abortions after 18 to 20 weeks gestation.

The article further explained that “Medical staff inject either the heart drug digoxin or potassium chloride, a potentially poisonous salt also used in state [death penalty] executions.” [The actual needle and syringe used are pictured left, courtesy of Life Dynamics.] According to the authorities quoted in the story, both chemicals have “long [been] used in late term abortions ….”
Digoxin was Tiller’s preferred toxin (as in “choose your poison”), but both chemicals are used to induce fatal heart attacks. MayoClinic.com says “classic symptoms” of a heart attack can be recognized when “someone clutches their chest and writhes in excruciating pain.” That is why condemned capital offenders are given anesthesia before being injected with the heart stopping drug.
Newscientist.com, “Execution by injection far from painless,” April 14, 2005, reported a study conducted by researchers from FL and VA stating, “Without adequate anesthesia… the person being executed would experience… a severe burning sensation, massive muscle cramping and cardiac arrest.”
WashingtonPost.com, “Lethal Injections Called Flawed,” April 15, 2005, said the same study found that blood samples taken from executed inmates suggested that some 40% of condemned prisoners “might be so inadequately sedated that they are awake enough to suffer agonizingly painful deaths ….”
It should be born in mind that these inmates are receiving direct, intravenous injections of anesthesia and it still might not be enough to spare them what amounts to torture.
Late term babies get no direct administration of anesthesia before their heart attacks….

The shootings of the Iraqi baby and George Tiller are rightfully considered immoral and illegal.
Tiller’s shootings of babies were legal and considered moral.
