Jivin J’s Life Links 5-26-10

… The majority were unable to provide abortions because of formal and informal policies imposed by their private group practices, employers and hospitals, as well as the strain that doing so might put on relationships with superiors and coworkers….
Restrictions on abortion provision sometimes were made explicit when new physicians interviewed for a job, but sometimes became apparent only after they had joined a practice or institution. Several physicians mentioned the threat of violence as an obstacle to providing abortions, but few considered this the greatest deterrent.
“This is quite a life you’ve laid in front of me,” she sings among layers of strings, mandolin, percussion, music box, saxophone and backup vocals. “You don’t want it, so let’s just throw it out.” It’s the one track on which Bowersox sounds like the powerhouse she’s proved herself to be on national TV.

Hey all. I don’t mean to hijack this thread, but I defend my dissertation in about 45 minutes, so if you wish, I would greatly appreciate your prayers.
I basically started coming to Jill’s right as I was beginning grad school, so I very strongly associate my grad school experience (which is coming to a close) with Jill’s Pro-life Pulse. God love you all!
Prayers for you, Bobby. If you defend your thesis half as well as you defend pro-life and the Catholic Church, we’ll be calling you Dr. Bobby Bambino in no time.
Will do. May God grant you (more) eloquence and clarity.
I officially can’t tell if the song is pro- or anti-.
“If you can’t use this
Don’t you dare abuse it
Save yourself the trouble just throw it out”
“You don’t want this
You don’t want it
You don’t want it
Just throw it out
Oh
You don’t need this
Well you say you don’t need this right now
Well you can’t feed it
Just throw it out”
“Something new is growing
Here inside of me
I’m just trying to figure out
This is quite a life you’ve
Laid here in front of me
And I’m just dying to get out”
Help?
The impression I get is that someone (boyfriend maybe?) is putting pressure on her to abort.
Here’s the full lyrics:
Something new is growing
Here inside of me
I’m just trying to figure out
This is quite a life you’ve
Laid here in front of me
And I’m just dying to get out
If you can’t use this
Please don’t abuse it
Save yourself the trouble just throw it out
Cuz you don’t want this now
These walls are haunted
There’s nothing here but gloom and doubt
There was a time when I thought I had been saved by grace
There was a time…it’s not my time
And I locked the bathroom door and I began to pace
And I watched grace pass me by
If you can’t use this
Don’t you dare abuse it
Save yourself the trouble just throw it out
Cuz you don’t want this now
These walls are haunted
There’s nothing here but gloom and doubt
There was a time when I thought I had been saved by grace
There was a time…but it’s not our time
No No
But who’s to say that it’s something you can not replace
And I watched grace pass me by
There was a time when I thought I had been saved by grace
There was a time…and it’s not our time
No No
And I locked the bathroom door and I began to pace
And I watched grace pass me by
And I said goodbye
I said goodbye
Cuz you don’t want this
You don’t want this
You don’t want it
Let’s just throw it out
You don’t need this
You said you don’t need this right now
You don’t need it just throw it out
You don’t want this
You don’t want it
You don’t want it
Just throw it out
Oh
You don’t need this
Well you say you don’t need this right now
Well you can’t feed it
Just throw it out
Oh
You can’t feed it
Just throw it out
You can’t feed it
Praying for you, Bobby! I agree with Michael @ 1:27pm.
I can’t tell if this song is Pl or pro-death. Although I am hoping that Crystal wins tonight, I really don’t have any further use for another liberal, pro-death singer. A great Idol Star is Carrie Underwood!! Has anyone seen the video “Jesus Take The Wheel”???? It’s amazing!! It’s pro-life. I’d advise anyone interested to pull it up on You Tube!!!! I love the way the video ends!!! And Underwood gained me as a fan:) She’s a classy cute gal who deserves the best!
I wonder how many great talents have been aborted.
My prayers are with you too Bobby!
Good luck, Bobby. I know of someone at a very pro-abortion university who wrote about the negative effects of abortion on many (but not all) men and he successfully defended it!
I’ve often wondered how some obgyns feel about other doctors who perform abortions. I was talking to one of my post abortive friends from Silent No More, and she knew a nurse who worked in the NICU at Metro Hospital. She whispered to my friend “It’s just so disgusting. Here we are trying to save the lives of these tiny babies, and right on the other side of the wall [hospital wall] they are killing them.”
Go Bobby, Go Bobby, GO,GO GO Bobby! LOL
Good Luck, Hon’! :)
Bobby – did you know there’s a TV movie about a gay kid called “Prayers For Bobby”? :)
Read this too late to pray for you beforehand, but I’m praying it went well, anyway. I know how tough higher education can be sometimes.
Bobby
Too late to pray for your dissertation but prayers for your future that it may be filled with substance.
Bobby,
Praying for your continued success!

What do lawmakers hope to achieve with the passage of the Oklahoma House Bill 3284?
Thank you for all your prayers. Things went great yesterday, and I successfully defended.
Ms. Magazine considers Bowersox to be a feminist. I’m not sure how they decided that, but here is the link:

Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS BOBBY!!!
Congrats, Bobby!
Yay, Bobby!
Congratulations.
Interesting, Peg. Bowersox may of course be a pro-life feminist, even though that doesn’t exist in the Ms. Magazine universe. The fact that she’s the mother of an infant makes me think she can’t seriously hold the “just throw it out” attitude. (Otherwise… well, I pity her kid!) So that makes me lean toward thinking that her song is pro-life. But I agree with everyone who’s said it’s ambiguous.

============================
I have a lot of MD friends and they do say that doctor’s who go into the abortion industry are looked down upon and, generally, shunned.
They ask the same questions we do:”How can somebody who took an oath to care for people end up killing their patients?”

On a happier note: Congrats Bobby on a successful defense!
Dr. Bobby! Way to go.
CONGRATULATONS BOBBY!! God bless you.
My experience regarding OB/GYNs who perform abortions, I have discussed before on this blog. No respect from other OBs, shunned, not good dinner conversation at the cocktail parties and fundraising galas. Typically only the bottom of the barrel OBs go into the abortion industry, respectable OBs don’t want to be identified with abortion. One friend found out her OB who was new to town was doing abortions, she confronted him about it and told him she could not in good conscience have him deliver her baby. He told her he would stop and he was true to his word. He quit. He then went on to build a successful practice afterward.
Another friend (who is now retired) was a OR surgical superviser in a huge hospital overseas. She told me the hardest thing she ever did was to have to staff the abortions performed there. She hated it, the staff hated it, they had nightmares, went into depression, were traumatized by the abortions, she had huge staff turnover and couldn’t keep this unit staffed. Doesn’t that sound like a great profession to be in pro-deathers? NOT! PP LIES TO YOU!!!
