I am annoyed that media outlets on our side inexplicably appear to either be  ignoring or lowlighting the fact that the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List is co-sponsoring today’s RNC Chairman’s debate. Heck, even People for the American Way noted this with disdain 4 weeks ago.

But this afternoon at 1p EST viewers will indeed see SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser sitting with Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and Tucker Carlson of The Daily Caller, asking questions of the RNC chair candidates.

In fact, SBA List noted in a press release this morning that “our proposed questions have received the most votes out of any questions proposed in the entire country at RNCDebate.org!” which is a great show of muscle from the pro-life community. More details from SBA List:

The debate will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST this afternoon, Monday, January 3rd here in Washington, D.C. and will be broadcast live on C-SPAN. It will also be streamed live online at RNCDebate.com and DailyCaller.com….

There are three ways you can help us ensure the next Chairman of the Republican Party is firmly committed to advancing the Right to Life:

  • Propose a follow-up question on Twitter. After the initial round of questioning, follow-up questions proposed by activists across America on Twitter will be asked. If you’d like to ask a specific question to any or all of the candidates, you can post your question now or after you’ve heard the first part of the debate. Make sure to use #RNCDebate and/or #RNCChair hashtags. (Also, make sure you are following us on Twitter @SBAList)
  • Watch my pre-debate Skype interviews with all 6 of the candidates running for RNC Chair, including our most recent interviews with candidates Maria Cino and current RNC Chairman Michael Steele….
  • Lobby the RNC voting members in your state. After watching the Skype interviews or the live debate, make sure to send your thoughts to the RNC members in your state who will ultimately vote for the next Chairman later this month.

As pro-life advocates in the political sphere, we must advance the Right to Life at every opportunity – that includes influencing a political party’s position on Life. Thank you for helping the SBA List advance this critical mission!

Here were the Life questions asked of  candidates in SBA List’s pre-debate interviews:

Life: What is your position on restoring the Right to Life to unborn children, how has this view been shaped, and what specific experience do you have in fighting for the Right to Life?

Life/Marriage Resource Question: As chairman, what specifically would you do differently than current and past administrations when it comes to the issues of Life and Marriage? Will you highlight these two critical issues in political advertising programs?

Life/Marriage Past Support: Have you ever given or served on the board of a pro-abortion group?

That last question was likely aimed at candidate Maria Cino, who served on the board and gave $1,500 to the pro-abortion WISH List, and Michael Steele, who was a founding board member of the Republican Leadership Council, which “tends to be critical of what it considers to be the disproportionate role of conservative Christians in the Republican Party,” according to Ask.com.
