- 40 Days for Life reports at least 608 babies saved from abortion during their latest campaign.
- Michael New writes that despite the insistence of some, there is no evidence that offering welfare benefits to women decreases abortion rates. At National Review, New also has information on three ballot initiatives in Montana, Florida, and Massachusetts, which may be of interest to pro-life voters.
- At Mommy Life, Tripp Curtis has posted an account of the last hours of his beloved wife Barbara’s life, in which he and their family see the hand of the Lord. May she rest in peace in the arms of her Heavenly Father, and may He grant peace to the entire Curtis family.
- Abstinence Clearinghouse links to an article by Dr. Judith Reisman, who asserts “nearly all of today’s liberal ‘comprehensive sex education’ curricula is derived entirely from the criminally fraudulent research of Alfred Kinsey.”
- At Ethika Politika, Andrew Haines says the message sent by the acceptance of IVF in society is that “women are tools, and we should use them — and especially their bodies—to get what we want. Not to mention, the utilization of women shouldn’t be restricted only to men; women should use each other for the same reasons. After all, what are women, really, apart from conveniently evolved vehicles that allow us to pursue more desirable ends?”
- At Live Action, Kristi Burton Brown tells pro-lifers what we must do, regardless of the outcome of today’s election:
We already know what we must do if President Obama is re-elected…. We must raise our voices ever louder on behalf of the innocent. If we hide, their voices will drown into silence. We cannot hide, or be silent, or go away in discouragement. We can survive another four years of anything, because we must. The innocent children need us, no matter who else abandons them – even if it is the leader of the free world….
If Governor Romney wins… we don’t stop the fight, either. But the fight will take a different turn. We must continue our efforts because we all know that abortion will not end just because Romney wins. Anyone who believes that is living in a fairytale land. If Romney wins, we must insist on action. Action is what ends abortion, not an election. We must insist that he keep his promise. We cannot rest or back off until he defunds Planned Parenthood.
One reason America has so many unwanted pregnancies may be our attitudes toward risk. We tend to admire risk-takers. People in Western Europe may tend to be more risk-averse in general, leading to few unwanted pregnancies and thus, fewer abortions.

How does anyone know for sure that this many babies were saved? I hope they are correct, but where do these figures come from?

I don’t know how the rates of unplanned pregnancy compare DeniseNoe. But if it is lower in Western Europe my guess is that it would be because of better sex education and broader acceptance, availability and informed usage of various forms of contraception. They also don’t have a significant promotion of abstinence programs, which actually incur greater risk when so many fall off that particular wagon because they aren’t adequately prepared.
Dunno phillymiss, maybe they just counted everyone who appeared to nod in agreement with their signs and their words. Cos some of those people were like, women. And some of them might you know, get pregnant. And some of those may decide to you know, not have an abortion.

Wrong about the count, Reality, but nice to you see commenting!
40 Days counts by mothers telling them explicitly “I’m not getting an abortion today because of you.” I would even go so far as to say they double check against duplicate stories because each 40 Days location has a leader and each vigil participant signs up. It’s very organized. :>)
Is everyone wearing their “I voted” sticker?

Hi ninek.
Do they follow up to see how many might return to the clinic a few days or a week later? Or how many say that just to stop being harassed?

Thats right they just might come back later. I am not trying to be negative, just realistic.

Obama most likely has won. RIP millions of more babies. What a loss. :(

Yup Obama got it. Disappointing but it didn’t surprise me. I think the GOP will keep the House though.

What we’ve lost is any chance at economic freedom. Further eroded will be religious rights, gun rights, health care rights, property rights, employment rights, etc., ad nauseum. Millions of PEOPLE, already born, have suffered a great loss tonight. Including me and you.

I seem to recall a study from Guttmacher showing that 1 in 4 to 1 in 3 women who miss their abortion appointments do not reschedule. I don’t know where to find it, but it seems reasonable to me. That figure would include everything from a broken alarm clock to a sincere change of heart from dialoguing with a pro-lifer.
The number from 40 Days for Life also excludes women who were dissuaded from abortion without actually talking to the volunteers outside the clinic.
At least 608 babies were saved from abortion because of fall 2012 40 Days for Life.

Why? They can’t be legally killed without justification.

You know it’s possible to care about protecting the born and unborn, right Amanda. Small thinkers. Meh.

“At least 608 babies were saved from abortion because of fall 2012 40 Days for Life” – pretty much unprovable either way.

@Jess-yes its very disappointing. I dread having to go to work tomorrow and hear everyone gloating, not to mention school. But as Mother Teresa said, we are not called upon to be successful, but to be faithful. And we must continue to be faithful in o.ur fight for life. Goodnight.

I hear you, phillymiss. I’m not religious, but I’m glad you have your faith to comfort you. Good night to you.

I think I will have to move to Colorado or Washington to take advantage of certain new laws of theirs to get over my disappointment. Lol.

Careful, Jack. Hickenlooper did remind people that it’s still illegal under federal law so you shouldn’t break out the cheetos and goldfish too quickly. (Yes, seriously, he said that, lol)
