Catholic institution invites pro-abortion speaker to its campus
It would be difficult to find a speaker who contradicts the teaching of the Catholic Church on more levels than Angela Davis [pictured right]. Stalin maybe? She is a notorious feminist, Marxist, communist, socialist who engages in pro-abortion, pro-same-sex “marriage” activism.
Yet, despite Davis’ dismal record, Seattle University — a Catholic institution — plans to host a talk, book signing and reception for her on October 17 in the Campion Ballroom. The event is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Justice in Society.

:(
Liberals are liberal first, foremost, and always.
Liberal Catholics are no exception.
Raymond Gravel. But he’s a priest.
I took the liberty of politely protesting as asked by TFP Student Action and emailed SU’s President Fr. Sundborg cc’ng the CSJS as well.
My email:
Dear Fr. Stephen V. Sundborg, SJ
I write to politely express my disappointment as a Roman Catholic that SU’s Leadership is organizing a presentation from a well known pro-abortionist/proponent of homosexual unions/anti-Catholic/pro-communist supporter. I view this as an abdication of its Jesuit mission, core values and commitment to its Jesuit ethos. The Center for Study of Justice in Society is being given a green light to provide a forum to a person that does not consider conception as a MIRACLE OF LIFE.
I would hope Father, that SU’s Leadership under your guidance and authority, considers the implications of its support of this “lecture” as it will forever stain the Jesuit foundation the University has been built on and still claims to uphold.
Catholic institutions in the United States of America have one and one mission only: to uphold and respect the teachings of the Church. As such, providing a forum to this individual, will be a complicit act in invalidating the Catholic doctrines so central to the functioning of all Catholic institutions.
These are difficult times during which the Catholic Church must defend the sanctity of preborn life. May the dying Jesus on His cross be your strength and guide you in this challenging Catholic endeavor. I pray for all Catholic institutions to withstand the negative forces that aim to irreversibly penetrate its core foundations. God bless you.
Respectfully submitted,
Thomas Rykala

Barack Obama?
I also forwarded a copy of my email to Archbishop Sartain of Seattle. Hope this helps the cause.
We just had Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, come and speak in Champaign, Illinois yesterday and today. She would have been a much better choice – and she comes with authority on civil rights – her whole family was involved with that fight, and still is. God bless her.
Shame on Seattle University. They should know better.
I wish they would pay attention to a wonderful Jesuit, who is making plain how to live social justice – Pope Francis.
I signed the TFP petition and added the following in my email to Fr. Sundborg:
This breaks my heart. The world is full of social justice activists who promote the values of the world. Where is the social justice activist who promotes the values of Jesus Christ and His church? I challenge you to find that person and invite him or her to speak to the young people at your Catholic university.
From Seattle University’s web site:
“Mission – Seattle University is dedicated to educating the whole person, to professional formation, and to empowering leaders for a just and humane world.”
For a Jesuit college, the absence of the Jesuit motto “Ad majorem Dei gloriam” (For the greater glory of God) is significantly absent, replaced with a secular mission.
By a just and humane world, are they speaking of the New Jerusalem?
3372 A.D. is far off Last Democrat.
Marxist, communist, socialist – wow, busy lady.
Maybe they’re following the old ‘know thy enemy’ thing?
Feminist? Someone Who believes In Equality For Women?! Gasp! (BTW, feminists can Be Both Pro Life And Pro Choice, So This Is Anti woman Either Way)
This is an apostate religious institution. Ichabod, the Glory has departed.
Seek the Lord while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Repent and serve Him while you still have time.
You won’t want to be numbered among the likes of Seattle University on Judgment Day.
Maybe they’re listening to the Pope
Pope Francis, in the first extensive interview of his six-month-old papacy, said that the Roman Catholic church had grown “obsessed” with preaching about abortion, gay marriage and contraception, and that he has chosen not to speak of those issues despite recriminations from some critics.
sorry Hal – Pope Frances had talked about abortion. gay marriage and contraception, and has upheld the Church’s teaching on each. If you go to the Vatican website and other direct sources you will see that. Regular MSM distorts what is said from Rome. If that is where you get your news, that is where you are getting the distortion.

Maybe they’re listening to the Pope.
You can be sure that they are not listening to the Pope or making reference to any guidelines that the Catholic Church has offered for Catholic universities.
And you can be informed that you are not listening to Pope Francis, either. The remarks that you quoted are the spin of secular critics of Catholic faith, and not the words of Pope Francis himself.
But…. if the Seattle University were actually listening to your version of Pope Francis, they still would not invite this woman to speak because she is obsessed with abortion, gay marriage and contraception.
He does have a point about you guys being obsessed.
I think Hal you are confusing obsession with advocacy for the Catholic ethos. Pope Francis had never officially discussed that abortion, homosexual marriage and contraception will be excluded :
“Nothing Francis said in this or other interviews indicate any change in church teaching.”
The Catholic Church’s doctrines remain intact and unaffected. We are a welcoming faith and that premise must be expanded. That is the only message Pope Francis conveyed. Just too bad it was twisted.
Let me blow a little Sunshine and Fresh Air your way, Hal:

I knew making a jesuit the Pope was a red flag.
Lol like this stuff wasn’t going on before Pope Francis.
I love Pope Francis, he’s awesome.
He’s made further comments on this matter:

(if NARAL’s social media director is reading this, now might be a good time to delete those new graphics)
How terrible! Actually listening to the ideas of people who have different views!
And, “feminist”? Ugh! A woman who thinks women are the equals of men! That’s so gross.
:-(
It is not at all surprising: a Jesuit institution.
“It is not at all surprising: a Jesuit institution.”
Okay, someone please let me in on this. What exactly is the big deal about the Jesuits?
