Obama group: ABQ’s 20-wk abortion ban “pretty scary” and “extreme”
Something pretty scary is happening in Albuquerque right now.
Voters will cast ballots on November 19th on an initiative that would ban abortions after 20 weeks with virtually zero exceptions.
This is a serious attack on women – and it’s a deliberate attempt by extreme interest groups to test their latest anti-women strategy….
The groups behind the ballot initiative are extremely well funded and – if they win in Albuquerque — you can bet they’re going to take this approach to cities and states across the country.
~ President Obama’s political group Organizing for Action, November 8

A serious attack on 20 week preborn women? You got that right.
Late term abortions are EXTREME!!
Keep up the rhetoric proabortion peeps. Especially “anti-woman!!” LOL
GOOOOOOOO ALBUQUERQUE!!!!
“You can bet they’re going to take this approach to cities and states across the country…”
This really stood out to me because they are admitting there is a high chance these kinds of initiatives will be successful. Seems like abortion advocates are going more and more on the defensive lately because they see pro-life progress as a genuine threat.
A group associated with Obama is doing something evil. What else is new?
The 53 members of Organizing for Action seem to be mostly men from other countries that are into computers systems.
Maybe they can come to this site and tell us how much they really care about women.
Hey Jill and mods thank you for posting this. This is the email by Obama’s folks that I mentioned on the other thread. It is very important to know what is going on. Prolifers must be a real threat for them to send this email blast out.
We know that Obama-supporters like to make all of their opponents sound like demons.
But in what sense is this “a serious attack on women”? It is a local ban on late-term abortions of viable children in the City of Albuquerque.
Obama lives in an alternate reality.
One where killing viable innocent children is right.
And fighting to save them from slaughter is wrong.
By promoting evil, he has become evil.
Them pesky republicans are everywhere. The newsfolk claim they have opened another front in their ongoing ‘war on women’ in New Mexico.
Now hold on a secon, sonny.
If all them republicans keep their woman barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen doin all that thar woman’s work, then where are all these young missys comin from who are allied with them mean ole misogynistic GOPs?
Them gals are not only smart, they are fine lookin phillies of all kinds of colors and ages, and they know how to fight. They don’t throw like no gals I ever seen.
You go gals. Give em what fer.
The best them democRATs can do is whine about being miserably mistreated jus cuz you look at em cross ways.
You know what the most segregated place is in america today?
A democRAT weddin! Even if you include those same sex, gender bender shindigs!
20 weeks is 5 months pregnant.
Please take control of the language – when they say 20 weeks, we say 5 months…
A lot of abortion terminology is deliberately obfuscatory. For instance, trimesters have absolutely no meaning, but were an invention of Blackmun for Roe v. Wade. They seriously don’t want to discuss the end of embryonic development and the beginning of fetal growth at 8 weeks.
Not everyone knows gestational human development, and when many young people who have never experienced pregnancy hear 20 weeks, they don’t think of the bulging baby bump.
If you have the opportunity – point out how an abortion at this stage will likely take place. It’s not going to be a typical 12 week D&E because the child is too developed, the bones have calcified. The abortionist must go through a 2 stage process – 1) kill the child, 2) remove (birth) the child.
People hate hearing the process, but when they understand the child must be killed first, it recasts the extremism onto the hardline pro-choicers.
Send them to EHD.org
It’s often eye-opening and heart changing.
BTW – if the abortionist is unsuccessful with killing the child before delivery, then we’re right back to abortionists killing infants born alive – just like Kermit Gosnell did.
Obamabots are the ones who are scary and extreme!
Grown men who use the word “scary” are effeminate children, not manly adults.
You are so right Chris about taking control of the language. Saying 20 weeks means very little to people, but when you rephrase that to 5 months, the vast majority of people will immediately envision a visibly pregnant woman. This language twisting is a common and highly effective tactic of progressives, and not just on the issue of abortion. It’s become more important that ever to define the true meaning of things.
One thing that i don’t see pointed out frequently enough either is the how dishonest these same supporters are about why these late-term procedures are performed. I have yet to hear, at least in this country, about a doctor or hospital refusing to save a woman’s life even when doing so will most likely result in the death of her baby. Neonatal and newborn surgery has come leaps and bounds in its ability to correct defects and abnormalities, and it’s become possible to identify these much earlier in pregnancy (nearly all at 10 to 15 weeks) and even before pregnancy with genetic testing. In truth, there is simply no legitimate argument for late-term abortions, though extreme pro-abort supporters rely on ignorance to get others to believe these procedures are needed for women whose life is in danger or to “spare” babies with terminal anomalies.
The reason it’s scary is NOT because pro-lifers are seen as a threat. It’s scary because there are NO exceptions for medical necessity due to mother’s health (such as cancer), fatal pregnancy complications (pre-eclampsia), rape etc… Exceptions are required by Roe v Wade and its progeny NOT pro-aborter ignorance. The courts will likely invalidate it as unconstitutional. The Attorney General of NM already issued a statement that the ban would be unenforceable if it passes. If you don’t like it, take it up with Supreme Court of the United States. :)
Veronica, you should read the proposed initiative for yourself:
http://www.latetermabortionban.com/the-ordinance/
It clearly has exceptions for the mother’s life. It also does not affect pre-term delivery after viability, removal of a dead unborn child, or medical treatment for pregnant women.
Rape is a horrible crime. I think the legal system needs to do more to convict rapists, and ensure that the ones that are convicted get punished to the fullest extent of the law. Something is wrong when only 3% of the perpetrators spend a day in prison. But in what other circumstance would we kill a completely innocent human being in order to reduce the distress of a victim of crime? We wouldn’t let the victim kill her child after birth if it reminded her of the rape experience. The same should apply before birth.
Exceptions are required by Roe v Wade and its progeny NOT pro-aborter ignorance.
Actually, the Roe v. Wade decision requires states to keep abortion legal until viability (around 22-28 weeks). After viability, the health exception (per Doe v. Bolton) must apply the broadest definition of “health” (including physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age). This effectively makes it impossible to enact any meaningful restrictions on abortion at any stage. Legal scholars on all sides of the issue agree that the Roe v. Wade decision had no constitutional merit.
The courts will likely invalidate it as unconstitutional. The Attorney General of NM already issued a statement that the ban would be unenforceable if it passes.
Then how can it be scary if it will never go into effect?
If you don’t like it, take it up with Supreme Court of the United States.
We’d need a case to challenge the court first. This is what a 20-week ban would do.
