Recovering drug addict: Love for my kids “gets me up every morning”

I was blessed that my babies were born beautiful and strong, and are growing up healthy even though I was pregnant and using. Everybody deserves a fighting chance. While my life has been hard, I wouldn’t trade my experiences for the world, because without them I wouldn’t have had my kids. Moving from the shame I’ve carried, I tell my story now because I want what I’ve learned to be part of making things better for others.
Every day I look in the mirror it’s another day I’m sober, another day for a new beginning.

Yes very sad but a lot of women are losing their children to drug addiction. I hope she keeps up with her fight. I always say its satan. Crack is now losing popularity here to heroin. The bodies are stacking up at the morgue here and heroin deaths are at the highest theyve ever been. Just one day at a time.
God bless her in the fight away from drug addiction!!
I spent a little time browsing over at RH Reality Check.
They have started writing about strong women and mothers and children. They might even be starting to aid mothers and children with actual support, a little bit.
They are copying us.

Wonder what started her drug addiction? I know several women personally who aborted and became alcoholics. I know post-abortive women have higher rates of addiction. Trying to numb the guilty conscience and broken heart I assume.

It seems like every time we update something on the back end of the site, weird things happen with comments and the spam filter. And we just did some updates at the end of last week.

My kids are my greatest motivator for sobriety as well. I wish her the best.
This is just awesome. I’m happy for her and hope that she keeps up the fight. Kids are incredible motivators.

Lol Ninek. I always thought that was the dumbest accusation possible for pro-choicers to throw at us pro-lifers. Considering the fact that most pro-lifers have born children, if nothing else we care about our OWN children, both born and pre-born. And there’s the fact that many, of not most, pro-lifers give our time and money to many causes, not just pro-life causes.I actually think I’ve done more activism with street kids and other homeless people than I have for pro-life work. You have to wonder if the people claiming we only care about the unborn have ever actually spoken to any of us. Or if what we say goes in one ear and out the other. :)

Hi Jack I agree with you I have heard the lie so many times “you prolifers only care about unborn babies” till I am sick of it. I don’t usually waste my time responding unless it is a person who is a novice who is ignorant all of the work being done by the prolife movement. People do not know how much volunteering, donating, educating, counseling, fundraising, praying, outreach, etc. we do out of love for women and babies. All of the dedicated prolife friends that I have are tremendously busy helping and loving women, teens, children and babies (in many different areas). Keep up the good work Jack and other prolifers in whatever area God has called you to help others. My main focus is working with teens and parents but I have worked in other areas also.
I want to encourage this young lady who is now free from drug addiction because her children have given her the motivation to live free from addiction. God bless and strengthen her. I will pray for her and her children.
I always ask them, “Who do you think all of the FREEEEE diapers, wipes, baby clothing, carseats, highchairs and play pens are for at the Pregnancy Resource Center???”
