Pro-life vid of day: Obama double-minded about babies
by Hans Johnson
The most-played sound bite from President Obama’s speech last week about government-paid parental leave was that we should follow France’s lead. But by injecting himself into the conversation (something he is wont to do), he made some remarks that could be seen as ironic.
He said “one of the best perks about being president is anybody will hand you their baby.” And: “So I get this baby fix two or three times a week.” Pro-lifers, at least, would consider this awkward. But he didn’t stop there.
After recalling his experiences with his infant daughters, he said: “And I want every father and every child to have that opportunity.” Yet as an Illinois state senator he was such a champion of abortion that he supported infanticide. And who can forget his statement that babies can be considered a punishment?

Mothers hand their children to Obama?
I wouldn’t hand my cat to Barky. Will, perhaps I would in hopes that he would get a good clawing!
He’s a victim of his ideology’s twisted moral calculus that the family is a threat to societal advancement and so abortion is a necessary feature to break them down. He needs to break free from the years of shackles his politics and heritage have heaped on him and embrace the inner baby-snuggler.
I agree with him about paid parental leave, I think that would be a fine pro-life policy.
It skeeves me out that he can’t see how not supporting BAIPA is wrong.
I’ve yet to see any politician or even an aspiring politician, hold a developing fetus.
“And I want every father and every child to have that opportunity.” – yes, an opportunity, not an enforcement.
“I’ve yet to see any politician, or even an aspiring politician, hold a developing fetus.”
I’m going to assume you’re not counting the pregnant women serving in politics. ;)
Amusing Kel :-)
The point was about politicians being handed peoples babies to hold. Have any been handed a developing fetus to hold?
Reality, I think this is the weirdest point you’ve tried to make to date. ;)
What’s weird is that some people think that being pro-choice means someone can’t enjoy babies.
I don’t think that. I believe Obama and plenty of choicers like children, probably enjoy holding babies and cooing at them like most people do. I just don’t know how he reconciles that with not supporting a law protecting born infants from death.
Because it wasn’t an honest, straight-forward piece of legislation.
