Anne Hathaway lost role due to issue with “graphic” birthing scene
by Carder
Anne Hathaway was originally cast as Alison Scott, a reporter who ends up getting pregnant after a one night stand with Ben Stone, played by Seth Rogen.
Anne took issue with the birthing scene at the end of the movie, arguing that it was too graphic. In the end, Judd Apatow had no problem letting Anne go, and replaced her with Katherine Heigl.

Perhaps this would make sense to me, if I had seen the movie. Perhaps the script version of the birthing scene really was too much for a rom-com…
I have respect for an actor or actress who knows when the sex and violence are more graphic than tasteful, or more intense than the actor can deal with.
On the other hand, Anne Hathaway is an outspoken supporter of abortion. She may be post-abortive, and over-reacting PASS to normal images.
Or both. The movie script and Ms. Hathaway’s reactions were probably both over the top.

I saw the movie-they showed a close-up shot of a baby crowning. So graphic, yes, but not worse than a lot of stuff shown in other movies.
I laughed at this, though: There was no nudity in Knocked Up, other than the birth footage, but Anne Hathaway *did* do a topless scene in Brokeback Mountain…
