Show Me a Choose Life specialty plate
After a successful court battle, MO pro-lifers unveiled the newest state Choose Life specialty license plate on May 2.
You’d think pro-aborts would learn. They sue, they lose, all the way up to the US Supreme Court .
I spoke with Russ Amerling this morning, who heads the nationwide Choose Life effort, and got more on the status of lawsuits….
The only lawsuit our side ever lost was the 1st, in SC in 2003, and that was eventually overcome.
After SC legislators approved the Choose Life plate, pro-aborts demanded a Choose Choice plate, which they, being conservative, would not approve. (I say go for it. Let’s compete.) Pro-aborts sued for viewpoint discrimination and won. But SC changed the rules and made specialty plates an administrative function, not legislative, and Choose Life plates will soon be available on SC roads anyway.
Pro-lifers have since won state and federal lawsuits in CA, FL, LA, OH, TN, and have won hearings with final resolution pending in IL, OK, NJ, and NY.
Actually pro-aborts don’t care about the expense of futile lawsuits. Taxpayers fund them.
But how far will pro-aborts go if they can?
The Choose Life website reports Choose Life plates have raised $8.76 million to promote or fund adoptions of March 31, 2008, in the 17 states where they are sold. See the status of your state here (although Russ told me he has to update the status of 5 states).

Awesome!!!
We might ask, “Why not come up with your own plate?” They supposedly did, for Florida, with an ironically apt plate showing little aborted baby stars flying up to Heaven while the lucky chosen star floated in front of the joyful mommy star. It was pretty creepy.
Are they available?
Just checked the Florida specialty plate site. The “abort three baby stars for every one you let live” plate isn’t currently available. Is it tied up on the bureaucracy, DOA, or what?
Christina, I remember blogging on that creepy plate. I don’t know where it is tied up. Good question. Want to research it and let me know? I’ll update on a blog post.
This is so very, very typical of the “abortion wars encounters”. Proaborts do not want anything that allows the average citizen to express their opinion on abortion in a public way. They want desperately to try to maintain the fiction that prolifers are a “radical minority”. Prolife license plates are selling like hot cakes everywhere they are available, and yet where are the proabort plates?
I’m hoping that the public “Ewwww!” response to the “abort three baby stars for every one you let live” plate sent them back to the drawing board.
And, after all, how do you counter “Choose Life”? “Chose Abortion”? “Choose Death”? “Support Abortionists”? There’s no cute slogan that doesn’t show that what you’re opposed to is people making a choice you disagree with.
Maybe they will go with their Christmas card slogan
Choice on Earth.
Blah.
License Plates?
Here’s the REAL problem:
In Just one year – – -Remember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following:
Part 1
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember, it’s Congress that makes law not the President.
He has to work with what’s handed to him.
Quote of the Day……..”My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.” — Barack Obama
Part 2:
Taxes…Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html
Taxes under Clinton Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K – tax $8,400 Single making 30K – tax $4,500
Single making 50K – tax $14,000 Single making 50K – tax $12,500
Single making 75K – tax $23,250 Single making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 60K – tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K – tax $21,000 Married making 75K – tax $18,750
Ma rried making 125K – tax $38,750 Married making 125K – tax $31,250
Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates
It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above
think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest
President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say
they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the
people that fall into the categories above can’t wait for it to
happen.
This is like the movie, The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam
somebody out of some money and they don’t even know what happened.

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:
Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda

Are we THAT stupid? If this doesn’t bother you then just delete the
message.
If, on the other hand, it does raise the hair on the back of
your neck, I hope you forward i t to every legal resident in the
country including every representative in Washington, D.C. – five

Quote of the day:
“you don’t mind babies having their limbs ripped off but then you get all upset over Kalid sheik Mohammand getting dunked in water.”
~ Commenter and moderator jasper

Dunked in water?
Gee, Jasper, sounds like a baptism.
At the next baptism you attend, why don’t you pack the blindfolded infant’s mouth with plastic bags, strap the kid to an inclined board, and slowly pour a bucket of water up baby’s nose?
It’s just a little “dunking” after all…
Why would pro-aborts be so offended by a ‘Choose Life’ plate? It does refer to a choice doesn’t it? You can either choose life, or choose abortion.
Personally, I don’t care for the phrase because life isn’t for the choosing.
So…..Pataki vetoed a 9/11 plate because he’s anti-adoption…what a douche.
ewwww Christina that plate is creepy-nasty
I think they should add a little hell fire at momma’s feet on the plate! Or maybe a dragon or devil wrapped around momma.
BTW, your blog is very good.
“Proaborts do not want anything that allows the average citizen to express their opinion on abortion in a public way”
I don’t really care if the state offers pro-life license plates.
Me either Hal. What’s the difference between a license plate with a message and a bumper sticker? I don’t care what you plaster on your car.
HisMan when it comes to the problem illegals are causing in the US, your neckhair and my neckhair are similarly rising. Living in Texas, we have a particular problem with it.
I have a problem with a political position being stuck on a legal document – and thats what a license tag is. I dont care if its anti choice or pro choice – doesnt belong on a legal document.
Thanks, Jill!
TR, I understand that position, and I agree with it too. I stand by my “I don’t care,” but I think the no politics on license plates is a better position. What if the KKK wanted a special plate? Or the Democratic Party? Maybe the politics should be reserved for bumper stickers. We have a special “law enforcement memorial” plate here, and everyone is getting it figuring they’ll get less tickets. Raising a lot of money for the law enforcement memorial however. I bet you could do the same thing by selling the bumper stickers for $100.

Exactly. Could the KKK make their political statement on a license plate?
I dont mind the plates that say someone is a vet or won a purple heart – thats not a political statement. As for bumper stickers … you could sell those metal ‘frames’ that fit around the plate and have the message you want on it. But I dont like political statements on something thats made by the government and required by the government.
$8.76 Million to promote or fund adoption!!! Sweeeet.
Can we all agree that that is very good thing?!
TR:
I think we have an obligation to treat aliens humanely and compassionately.
That treatment does not include allowing them to continue to break our laws and steal our services. We are either a country governed by law or we are not.
The problem is huge and is going to get bigger unless we have some politicos that are willing to deal with the problem, the sooner the better. I’m in Arizona and it’s hard for those in the NE to understand how this impacts our states, from overcrowded emergency rooms, higher health and auto insurance rates, overcrowded and underperforming schools, etc. Not to mention the fact that we have allowed tarrorists to infiltrate our country via the border with Mexico.
My neighbor has had his oversized pick-up truck stolen twice. The second time they found it in the desert with the lights broken out, the hood, the roof and the bed all deformed from transporting illegals across the desert by coyotes. This cost the insurance company about $40,000 and this is being done multiple times a day in border states.
And when someone is in a major traffic accident with an illegal, forget collecting any type of compensation except from the measily Uninsured Motorist limits of your own policy.
I say close the border first and stop the hemmoraging and then deal with the illegals that are here, like a voluntary grace period for registration, payment of a fine, etc. Then after all that, deport all that are illegal back to Mexico.
And I really believe that allowing illegal immigration is the government’s way of dealing with the huge human resources loss due to abortions over 30 years.
I think the N.O.W. plate with the three stars could not climb the “mountain of public support” required by the Florida Specialty Plate Statute. In Florida, any group wanting a specialty plate must first pay a $60,000.00 application fee to cover all the costs associated with the process of manufacturing, handling and distributing the first 10,000 plates. Then they must hire a professional polling agency to do a statistically valid sampling to prove that there are at least 15,000 licensed drivers in the state that would buy the plate if it was approved, then it goes to the House & Senate for approval, then to the Governor for signature and finlly to the Cabinet for final examination by all members, including the Highway Patrol for readability.
N.O.W. had a nationwide contest to design their plate and the three stars won. They had a massive amount of publicity and donations from all across the country when it was released last summer. At that time they said they would submit a bill for approval in the 2008 session. Where do you suppose the process broke down. We know they could get the $60,000.00 application fee and they could find some like minded legislators to get a bill submitted…Oh, I forgot the 15,000 folks that would agree to buy the plate. Just what we have been saying all along…who in their right mind could really be proud of supporting having an abortion?
Hal and Edyt: some people do care though what’s on the car.
I had a sticker on my car after my husband abandoned our family (for about 4 months) that read: “Real men keep their promises”
He was soooo furious about it that it kept coming up in court documents again and again. I think I hit a tender nerve there somewhere…. somewhere

Mr. HisMan: This is about abortion, not illegal immigration. Take you concerns to a website that deals with illegal immigration. Leave this one to the abortion vs. adoption debate.
That said, I will respond to the above article.
The hard core pro-aborts claim to be for choice, but they are not. They do not like it one bit when most people choose life. They are against adoption, and want to outlaw it. This would cut back the available choices for women in crisis pregnancies, which is just fine with the hard core pro-aborts. They want to sell abortion any way they can and push women into abortion who normally would refuse.
A “choose life” message upsets them because it might inspire someone to make a choice different from the one the hard core pro-aborts want them to make.
