Japanese woman implanted with wrong offspring
The title of the article incorrectly described the preborn human as an “egg,” and the article itself did not do much better, calling him or her a”fertilized egg.”
But I digress; the Associated Press is famous for such dehumanizing slips. Drudge is spotlighting this tragic story today, showing another problem with in vitro fertilization (click to enlarge):

I’m currently having fertility problems (though I would never try IVF)… I can’t imagine killing a child growing inside me simply because the doctor made a mistake. It wasn’t the poor child’s fault.
What a horrible story. Once more, IVF is such a horrible procedure.
another reason IVF is wrong. So, a tiny child was punished because she/he wasn’t the right one. And I’m not talking about the tiny human being a female!
Though the article doesn’t state it, presumably she’d had difficulty conceiving–don’t suppose anyone bothered to tell her thanks to killing the baby, a “potential mix-up” (so, it could have been hers, let’s err on the side of death, isn’t that the phrase?), she now faces increased risks in any subsequent attempts to have a child? How sad for this little one, who, like so many, was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Whoops!
Kind of like discovering you were raped by your husband’s identical twin brother.
Warning to Japanese children:
Do mistakenly wander on to this woman’s property.
It will probably be hazardous to your well being.
Warning to Japanese women: Take note of the physicians name and do not send him pick up your child after school. No telling who he will return with.
My brother in laws brother replaced the wrong knee joint in one of his patients.
Dana Carvey( ?) had heart valve replacement and the surgeon replaced the wrong valve.
Life and death used to be so much simpler.
yor bro ken
I don’t even send back my order if it’s wrong (mostly because I like eating at the same time as the others dining with me). You realize that if this was, in fact, someone else’s baby, all the stronger argument NO ONE should be doing IVF, even if YOU have a commitment to life, someone else could kill your child.
Jenny Z, I hope your problems get resolved.
Wow. This ranks right up there with the woman who was trying to get pregnant for years with her husband, finally got pregnant, and then found out he was cheating on her. Of course, the solution was to have an abortion…
What is wrong with people?
Jenny,
I hope you can figure out what’s going on. Have you tried to contact the Pope VI Institute? Or maybe a Chiropractor might help (strange, but true!)
Saint Gerard, please ask for intercession for Jenny Z and her husband so they may be able to welcome children.
So sad….I would have gladly taken that baby and raised him or her. She just destroyed it, even though she was desperate enough to go to such an extreme to have a baby. You would think someone who wanted a baby that badly wouldn’t kill it —especially over something so trivial. :( So sad.
Aparantly you want us to developmentally jump to a full-term baby right at fertilization. If that were the case whats the point of a fetus chillin’ in the womb for 9 months?
Yo la tengo, what’s the point of a neonate nursing for a year before being able to crawl, walk, drink from a cup, eventually developing into a real person (toddler)?
Or a teenager- because a teen is much more developed than a neonate, and therefore is more human than a neonate.
Saint Gerard, please ask for intercession for Jenny Z and her husband so they may be able to welcome children.

And St. Philomena!
Jenny Z, I don’t know where you are from but St. Philomena’s National Shrine is in Miami, FL.
