Pope asked to declare Planned Parenthood an enemy of the Church

pope-francis_2541160b

An official declaration of Planned Parenthood as an enemy of the Church will be a real game changer. Such a declaration will prevent Planned Parenthood employees and volunteers from serving in positions of responsibility in our parishes.

Simply put, Catholics could no longer hide behind an uninformed conscience in order to assist or promote Planned Parenthood or its agenda and be able to continue calling themselves Catholics in good standing.

~ American Life League’s Michael Hichborn in an August 25 press release announcing his group’s new campaign asking the Pope to declare Planned parenthood an enemy of the Catholic Church. Sign the Declaration of Encouragement for Pope Francis here.

Stanek Sunday funnies, 8-24-14

Good morning, and Happy Sunday! Here were my top five favorite political cartoons this week. Be sure to vote for your fav in the poll at the end of this post!

We begin with a cartoon a bit out of our norm, an illustration by Rod Anderson at the Christian Post to accompany its article, “Will sheer numbers win the abortion fight?”, about a study by researchers at Northwestern University indicating pro-lifers are winning the abortion fight simply by having more babies than abortion proponents…

Stanek Sunday Word: God’s selfie, Exodus 34:6

Exodus34-6b (1)

When Moses asked God to show him more about Himself, God gave him this revealing self-portrait: “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth” (Exodus 34:6).

Now consider that Moses was one of God’s best friends in the Old Testament. He spent days alone in God’s presence. So I think we can be sure that God’s first sentence summed up what seemed to Him most important to convey.

Ask yourself how your portrait of God measures up to the truth about God. If you see God as stingy, callous, unmerciful, quick to anger, or slow to bless, you are living in a cloud of error that has left you impoverished instead of blessed.

Pro-life photos of the week: Chalk and awe at home of abortionist

Pro-life anti-abortion chalk and awe at home of abortionist

Be sure to take the poll at the bottom of this post.

The Los Angeles Times reported on August 7 there would be no charges filed against pro-life group Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust after members wrote street and sidewalk messages with chalk around the home of abortionist Richard Agnew (pictured below right) of Newport Beach, California.

Abortion provider Richard AgnewActually, the threat of charges had nothing to do with accusations of vandalism. According to laist.com:

It was about reports of a fight that broke out between the protesters and residents. Agnew’s supporter and neighbor Paula Durnian, 59, and Survivors founder Jeff White, 56, citizen’s arrested each other, both accusing the other of being hostile. That case was dropped today, according to D.A. spokeswoman Farrah Emami, due to lack of evidence.

Ha, visions of Gomer Pyle come to mind. But I digress.

The Survivors reportedly chalked such messages as, “Agnew Kills Babies,” “Abortion is murder,” and “Your neighbor is a monster.”

While neighbors wanted vandalism charges pressed against the Survivors, that hasn’t happened. White says go ahead, make their day, the Survivors are merely exercising their First Amendment right to free speech:

“Do they really want to get into a $50,000 to $100,000 lawsuit?” White said. “Because we would sue over the sidewalk chalk.”

ALS challenge results in more skin cell deaths than embryo deaths?

4blasts1

More human cells - mostly skin cells - probably die when you dump a bucket of ice water over your head than are actually in a four-day-old embryo (pictured here above). If anti-choicers are really worried about cellular life, telling people to stop killing their skin cells for those greedy ALS sufferers would be the more direct approach.

Stanek weekend Q: Is abortion your litmus test when voting?

voteprolife16Leslie at The Passionate Prolifer Turned Abolitionist took exception this week to KNUS talk show host Krista Kafer, also a fellow at Colorado Christian University, who said, according to Leslie, “she wouldn’t have a problem voting for a ‘pro-choice’ candidate since abortion is just one of a number of issues women care about.”

Leslie went on to list 10 reasons why such thinking is “deeply flawed.”

Are you a one-issue voter when it comes to abortion?

On a related issue, in an apparent violation of a 2004 USCCB resolution stating that “Catholic institutions should not honor pro-abortion politicians or provide them with a stage that would suggest support for their actions,” the Connecticut diocesan newspaper publicly praised pro-abortion Democrat Congressman Joe Courtney, who holds a 100% rating from NARAL, for his work giving amnesty to illegal immigrants.

Was this an example of laying down with dogs to wake up with fleas?

Can one vote for, work with, and publicly praise a pro-abortion politician?

  • Americans United for Life remarks on the Iowa court win upholding the ban on webcam abortions in the state. The ban was put in place by the Iowa Board of Medicine:

During the litigation, Planned Parenthood admitted that, under its preferred method of chemical abortion, a physician never physically meets with a woman. Moreover, staff members — such as certified medical assistants (CMAs) — conduct physical exams or ultrasounds instead of doctors or other licensed healthcare providers.

bbwObama

  • Big Blue Wave caught President Obama’s recent press conference addressing the massacre of innocents. Consider Obama’s statements in light of his support for the nation’s largest abortion chain as well as his defense of partial birth- and live birth abortion, and they are stunning.
  • A Culture of Life has some strong words for a new website in New Zealand created not to expose doctors who perform abortions, but to harass medical professionals who express pro-life views:

On Sunday, ALRANZ launched a new website called “My Decision” which aims to intimidate and bully pro-life doctors through naming them and publishing women’s stories about their experiences with “hostile or unhelpful health professionals.”

Through the website ALRANZ wants to take options away from women by publishing the names of these individuals and organisations. By doing this, it is being inferred that they are archaic, putting their own beliefs over and above good medicine, good science. But these pro-life health professionals and crisis pregnancy centres are being honest, not only about their beliefs, but the science and medical evidence which shows that human life begins at the moment of fertilization and that some so-called contraceptives are abortifacient.

  • At Coming Home, Dr. Gerard Nadal responds to the viral news about noted atheist Richard Dawkins (pictured right) who recently claimed on Twitter that it is “immoral” not to abort a child with Down syndrome:

One can scarce envision a population more given to unconditional love than the Down Syndrome community. Those such as Dawkins, who reject the very idea that there is a God who is love itself, who advocate the slaughter of babies for want of something that approximates normal function, are those most in need of love themselves. There is something in them that was frustrated along the way, perhaps the perception that their love was not welcome in those to whom it should have flowed, and from whom they should have received that love which could have completed what was lacking in them.

  • Live Action News and Operation Rescue share the news that today, notorious creator of partial birth abortion Dr. Martin Haskell, will perform his last surgical abortion at his Sharonville, Ohio, clinic.
  • Bound4Life posts the testimony of a post-abortive mother, meant to encourage pro-lifers to continue praying and witnessing for life.
  • Pro-Life in TN has video of a recent meeting of the Tennessee General Assembly in which it is revealed that the TN Department of Health does not license or regularly inspect abortion clinics – unlike surgical centers. This leads to a “let the buyer beware” situation for women seeking abortions who enter under the false assumption that they have some assurance of safety:
