Planned Parenthood New Orleans building contractor fined for violations, work stopped

Two contractors have been cited for violations in Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s latest woe while attempting to construct a new abortion clinic in New Orleans.

The State of Louisiana has fined Barre McNeely Investments, LLC, a total of $2,500 for falsely completing state forms. Company owner Larry McNeely wrote “BMI, LLC” on all permits and contracts in an apparent attempt to hide his company’s identity. But it is illegal to use other than a company’s licensed name on state documents.

Barre was also cited for hiring an unlicensed subcontractor, Quality Diamond Products, which was fined a total of $4,500.

Archbishop Aymond, who threatened to blacklist anyone associated with building Planned Parenthood New Orleans abortion clinicThe Planned Parenthood building project has been plagued by setbacks since its launch, thanks in large part to New Orleans’ pro-life community.

The Catholic Archbishop of New Orleans, Most Rev. Gregory Aymond (pictured right), dealt a huge blow in January when he published a letter in the Clarion Herald threatening to blacklist “every person or organization” involved in building the abortion mill.

When Planned Parenthood kicked off construction in May 2013, at a church no less, it projected the 7-8,000 sq ft building would cost $4.2 million and be up and running by now.

Permit Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast Louisiana for abortion clinicA permit filed with the City of New Orleans showed Planned Parenthood originally scheduled a final inspection for August 18, meaning this was the date it projected the building to be completed.

That isn’t going to happen.

Fox8 reported in January 2014 “the lot sits untouched” eight months after Planned Parenthood’s big ceremonial ground-breaking, this apparently because it had trouble finding anyone to build its chop shop.

Planned Parenthood finally got something started in April, but the project has made little progress since then. Fox8 reported on August 20 there had been no work done for “several weeks.”

Planned Parenthood’s sign now says it will open in early 2015…

Planned Parenthood New Orleans abortion clinic contractor cited for violations

We all hope and pray not.

Planned Parenthood Louisiana and its parent affiliate, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, are hot messes at present.

390756_284329228286507_1809243706_nOnly last week PPL’s state director, Melissa Flournoy, pictured right, had to resign after making racist statements.

In 2013 the Louisiana state legislature directed several departments to launch an investigation after PPGC was fined $4.3 million for Medicaid fraud in Texas. While the Legislative Auditor found no wrong-doing, investigations by the Department of Health and Inspector General are ongoing.

In November 2013 Planned Parenthood Louisiana voluntarily reimbursed the state $33,739.13 after conducting “a self-audit in which they determined that one of their nurses had been writing and issuing prescriptions without proper authority,” according to Alliance Defending Freedom.

That’s called covering one’s behind.

Here’s one final shot, courtesy of Louisiana Coalition for Life, of Planned Parenthood’s New Orleans junkyard at present. May it stay this way…

Faithful should stay in politics but remember to make Jesus first

Quotation-Timothy-S-Goeglein-culture-politics-Meetville-Quotes-216001I think as we descend into more cultural and societal chaos on the road to the last day, it will be more and more important for those of us in politics to decide which comes first, faith or politics. They can be balanced. I try, sometimes fail, but keep trying. A growing number of people on the right are no longer trying to balance. They are either going completely out of the public square, or all in without Christ in their heart or on their tongue thinking they can just visit him on Sunday.

We should find balance. We may fail, but we should keep trying. We should not recede from the public square and a growing number of conservatives are showing more willingness to drive from the public square those who urge greater measures of Christian grace and charity than they prefer.

On the last day there will be a narrow gate. That makes me pessimistic about my future in politics and the future voices on the right when cultural and social issues come to the forefront. But for those here and elsewhere, though I may fall short because I’m a sinner, I’m with Jesus first and all the rest comes after.

Slimy pro-abortion congressional candidate mails condoms to pro-lifers

James Woods condom strategy to pro-life advocates

Why do I think Democrat pro-abortion congressional candidate James Woods is slimy?

Aside from the fact Woods retaliated against a pro-life letter writing campaign by mailing condoms back to pro-lifers, he introduced his condom strategy on Facebook with “Got Wood(s)?” What person running for U.S. Congress goes gutter like that?

Woods is also a card-carrying atheist, which may help explain his lack of decorum. Here’s the letter he sent with his condoms:

james-woods-abortion-letter

Actually, condoms are not the route to go if one is trying to avoid pregnancy. According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, condoms have an 18% failure rate, meaning one in five women can expect an oopsy pregnancy within a year of use.

James Woods pro-abortion sends condoms to pro-lifersWoods is running against Republican pro-life incumbent Matthew Salmon in the majorily Republican Arizona 5th Congressional District. Salmon is favored to win.

Salmon has also swamped Woods in fundraising, raising $803,439 to Woods’ $30,736.

James Woods is physically blind, but his bigger concern is blindness of a different sort.

Pro-life daily vid: Pro-lifer responds to ALS ice bucket challenge

reillyballby Kelli

Pro-lifer Reilly Ball (pictured right) responded to the popular ALS ice bucket challenge on her blog, explaining her pro-life perspective both there and on her YouTube page:

As it turns out, The ALS Association is performing embryonic stem cell research, which is funded by a a single donor. Adult stem cell research can be beneficial to progressive science technology but still lets the human live. This is great and has been shown to help fight ALS and other neurological diseases. Embryonic stem cell research harvests the baby’s stem cells in such a way that the baby cannot live. This is the intentional act of killing an innocent human child which is a form of abortion. The biggest irony of the whole situation is that embryonic stem cell research has shown zero effect in fighting ALS or other neurological diseases!

So what does this have to do with me dumping a bucket of ice water over my head?

The message of the video is to educate my friends of two points: first, ALS awareness and fundraising and second, supporting the ALS Association isn’t an ethical or beneficial option. Abortion is never a necessary evil. Why should we support the killing of millions of lives to hopefully find the cure for thousands?

I think the problem with the ALS Association lies in the fact that they would allow that kind of study to be done. When you’re donating to an organization, you’re donating to their ideas, motives, and worldview. Even though the ALSA works hard at fighting ALS, they are going about it in the wrong way by accepting embryonic stem cell research regardless of who ends up funding it….

So by all means, go ahead and dump freezing water on your head. I did it! Just remember why you’re doing it and know where your money is going.

Journalism prof: Abortion not difficult choice “for most women”

That-Was-Easy-Buttonby Kelli

… [E]ven supposedly “pro-choice” forces buy into the idea that shame is attached to sexual women. Abortion… is described as being a “difficult decision,” one that women struggle with if they are faced with an unwanted pregnancy. That is simply not true for most women. It’s not a difficult decision. If you don’t believe in abortion, it’s not a difficult decision because you’re not going to do it.

If you think abortion is not wrong, it’s not a tough decision because it’s the only way to make sure you don’t have to go through an unwanted pregnancy and childbirth. Calling it “difficult” – or suggesting that women feel bad or guilty or conflicted about it afterward – merely gives ammunition to those who think women need to be counseled before considering abortion, as though they’re all a bunch of emotional, unstable creatures who couldn’t possibly understand what they are doing.

Women know exactly what they are doing when they have abortions. Agree with it or not, but don’t assume the only reason she’s having one is because she’s too confused or distraught to make a rational decision.

Pro-life news brief 8-20-14

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat

  • “Intellectual” Richard Dawkins told someone on Twitter that bringing a child with Down Syndrome to birth is “immoral.”
  • An Alabama abortion clinic (which couldn’t meet safety standards at its current location) has been given permission to relocate.
  • Martin Haskell’s abortion clinic in Sharonville, Ohio, is dropping its appeal. They’ll stop performing surgical abortions on Friday. The clinic apparently plans on trying to stay in business by offering RU-486 chemical abortions.

katiestack

  • Newsweek has a long article on Lila Rose’s and Katie Stack’s respective undercover trips into abortion clinics and pregnancy centers. What’s really interesting to me is how Katie Stack (pictured; who appeared on MTV’s No Easy Decision) now describes her abortion:

Stack describes her choice to terminate a pregnancy, which she did in college, as “empowering” and says it aided her in “adapting a feminist framework” that led to her investigations. “It was the first time I felt like I had any control over anything, having that abortion,” she says. “I’m happy with my abortion. People get uncomfortable when I say my abortion was a good experience, but it was.”

During the No Easy Decision program in 2010, Stack cried on at least two occasions and mentioned how she had difficulty being around her newborn nephew after the abortion (starting at 8:30). At that time, she also said she viewed abortion as a “parenting decision” because she acknowledged her child as “a baby.”

That doesn’t sound empowering to me. Only in pro-abort La-La Land does staying in a hotel room because you can’t imagine seeing your newborn nephew equal “empowering.”

After the airing of the No Easy Decision program, Stack then tried to start a pro-abortion version of Live Action called The Crisis Project, which hasn’t had quite as much success.

Abortion enthusiasts promote illegal abortions

190g419t75vcljpg

During the last week of May abortion proponent Dawn Porter and members of the National Network of Abortion Funds traversed southern Texas and upper Mexico to film footage for an upcoming documentary, Trapped.

Trapped will “look at the impact of Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws in the southern United States, and their disproportionate effect on women living in poverty.”

There are currently no abortion clinics in the Rio Grande Valley, which borders Mexico. The nearest one in the U.S. is 230 miles north in San Antonio.

The group filmed themselves crossing the border to buy Misoprostol, an ulcer drug that is used off-label to induce abortions.

Misoprostol is available only by prescription in the U.S. and can only be dispensed by doctors for abortions. But it can be purchased over-the-counter in Mexico.

After the purchase, NNAF tweeted photos, along with instructions on how to use Misoprostol illegally to self-induce an abortion…

Back in the day abortion proponents claimed the only way to avoid back alley hack job abortions was to legalize it.

Now that legal abortion is becoming scarcer in places, proponents are reversing course and promoting the very same illegal abortions they protested against four decades ago.

Abortion zealots need a death

This is a dangerous game – of which abortion zealots are fully aware. One such illegal abortion pill provider wrote at Jezebel:

I send women what I can - misoprostol, or mifepristone/misoprostol in combination [JLS note: RU-486 abortion cocktail] when I have some stocked. I know, when I do it, that it could be a devil’s bargain - that this could be the envelope that gets traced back to me. This could be the one that lands me in prison. Or, even worse, it could be the one that kills someone. The abortion drugs rarely cause major complications (less often than birth), but they do happen. I don’t know what I would do with that on my conscience. I haven’t had to find out yet.

Dawn Porter and National Network of Abortion Funds play Russian Roulette with women's lives by pushing illegal abortion“Yet.” They know the day is coming. They’ll, of course, deny it, but abortion zealots actually salivate for that coming day. They are playing Russian Roulette with women’s lives on purpose, precisely to have someone end up dead.

They need another Gerri Santoro, and quick. Otherwise, their claims that abortion must stay legal to avoid needless deaths will prove false. Recall how they preplanned to exploit and lie about the death of Savita Halappanavar in Ireland in 2012 to promote legalized abortion. They need tragedies to sway public opinion and pressure politicians.

I’ve actually been somewhat surprised they haven’t yet gotten the dead poster child they long for. Which brings me to a post yesterday by Tim Graham at Newsbusters that may explain why we may not have seen it.

Texas abortionist profitted from illegal abortions

Abortionist Lester Minto, who advocates illegal abortionGraham wrote about an article in the September issue of Cosmopolitan, written by Amanda Robb, who bragged how Texas abortionist Lester Minto (pictured right) circumvented the law for a time at his now closed Reproductive Services of Harlingen, near the Mexican border.

After a Texas law took effect last November 1 forcing abortionists to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their clinics, which Minto could not get, he began encouraging pregnant mothers to purchase Misoprostol across the border or at a flea market and then come to him one week after ingesting the drug for “miscarriage management” – at $550 a pop.

The article (not available online) made an interesting point:

Before the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion nationwide in its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, miscarriage management was a common end-run around laws prohibiting the procedure. In order to get medical care, a woman had to find a way to make herself bleed vaginally. A sharp object stabbed through the cervix often did the trick.

“But I’m not seeing that now,” Dr. Minto told me. “So far, women today try drugs.”

For years pro-lifers have been saying we are not getting an accurate read on the danger of medical abortions due to inconsistent reporting requirements and because emergency room physicians may not even know they are dealing with abortion complications – because they are not told.

National Network of Abortion Funds’ “how-to” guide on lying

In fact, this is precisely what abortion advocates tell women to do – lie. NNAF hosts a web page explaining how to use Misoprostol illegally, with instructions to lie to medical staff at the hospital emergency room one drags herself to:Text box 2

Misoprostol causes a miscarriage. The symptoms of a miscarriage and an abortion with pills are EXACTLY the same and the treatment is EXACTLY the same. You do not need to say that you took the medication. If you took it as instructed at Women on Waves, it dissolves and there is no test that can tell a doctor or nurse that you took medicines. In every hospital in the world, doctors know how to treat a miscarriage or a complication from a miscarriage.

It is important to remember that in many states in the US, causing an abortion by yourself is a crime. Any person who knows you used abortion medication by yourself might feel obliged to report you.

This means abortion proponents won’t readily get the complications they need. The game has changed. Their only recourse may be to launch a PR campaign saying the abortion complications are out there, we’re just not seeing them.

National Network of Abortion Funds, with Dawn Porter, promoting illegal abortionI doubt that’ll happen, but you never know. Abortion proponents still manage to every now and then “shock the hell outta me,” to steal a line from Pretty Woman.

Another possibility is the eventual publicized death from an illegal abortion – which will tragically happen sooner or later – will be traced back to one of these illegal abortion pushers, like Dawn Porter or members of the National Network of Abortion Funds.

We’ll see how long they keep smiling.
