Pro-life blog buzz 1-16-15

pro-lifeby Susie Allen, host of the blog, Pro-Life in TN, and Kelli

  • 40 Days for Life shares a compelling story from a woman who justified her work at Planned Parenthood as “I’m just the bookkeeper” until the day she received an invoice that pricked her heart:

“The invoice was to Planned Parenthood from the local morgue. It was for $350.” As she scanned the invoice to see what it was for, the reality of abortion hit her. She continued, “The service listed was in bold letters that pierced my heart: CREMATION SERVICE FOR 150 POUNDS OF MEDICAL WASTE…. [T]he question I had to ask myself as I stared at that invoice was what first got me involved in the pro-life movement. The question that pierced my heart was: How many babies have to be aborted to add up to 150 pounds of ash?”

  • Jivin Jehoshaphat adds a detail that we missed in our recent post about Arizona abortionist Gabrielle Goodrick – the fact that Goodrick is on probation for substance abuse:

The Washington Post has an article by Lydia DePillis which allows Arizona abortionist Gabrielle Goodrick to whine about how hard it is to be an abortionist in Arizona after the state legislature passed some pro-life laws.Likely unbeknownst to De Pillis is that Goodrick is currently on probation for substance abuse issues (she took Fentanyl at her office in 2010) and her clinic was the subject of one of Live Action’s undercover stings regarding sex-selection abortion….

Depo-Provera-300x200

  • After Abortion discusses the reported link between Depo-Provera and HIV risk. This is one type of birth control frequently marketed to teens by the abortion industry:

According to the research published in The Lancet of Infectious Diseases, women who used the injectable birth control depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (more commonly known as Depo-Provera) saw a moderately increased risk of becoming infected with HIV. Depo-Provera is generally injected every three months to help prevent pregnancy. The scientists also looked at HIV risk relative to other methods of hormonal contraception, including injectable norethisterone oenanthate (also known as NET-OEN), combined oral contraceptives and progestin-only pills.

Only the Depo-Provera seemed to increase the risk of contracting HIV, by roughly 40 percent compared to women using non-hormonal birth control or no birth control at all.

  • Abstinence Clearinghouse warns us of two new applications (Tinder and Whisper) that teens may use and parents needs to be wary of. Both can track a user’s location, which could open the door to pedophiles.
  • American Life League’s Judie Brown tells us about a woman who became pregnant as a result of rape is now fighting the rapist to keep custody of her child. Amazingly enough, there is no law to protect her. The organization Hope After Rape Conception was started by a victim of rape for the purpose of creating state and federal laws to protect rape victims from this very thing. Brown encourages all pro-life legislators to support this. This is the way to show true concern for the victims of rape rather than supporting abortion of the innocent child.

  • Bound4Life notes the interesting timing of the release of Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song” (set to her preborn daughter’s actual heartbeat) and the two pro-life heartbeat bills being heard in federal appeals court regarding legislation in Arkansas and North Dakota:

“For these two events to unexpectedly happen at exactly the same time should make us all ponder for a moment,” says Matt Lockett, Executive Director of Bound4LIFE.

He continues, “For ‘Heartbeat Song’ to come along, set to the heartbeat of her baby in the womb, just as two important Heartbeat laws are being defended in court — it’s either an extraordinary coincidence or a confirmation. I take it as a great confirmation that God is drawing our attention to the sanctity of life in the womb.”

  • The Vine draws attention to the abortion industry’s attempts at normalizing abortion – in this case, by creating a play about it:

[T]he pro-aborts are attempting to make a dramatic production of abortion stories from women. No, seriously. Spawning from the “1 in 3 campaign” which claims 1 in 3 women will have an abortion, the newest attempt to normalize murdering your child will be a play, “Out of Silence,” that pro-aborts hope to show across the country. In an interview with Salon (because, of course) one of the pro-aborts behind the “Out of Silence” actually stated that “Some of it is very funny.”

Pro-life vid of day: Healing the shockwaves of abortion

HealingtheShockwavesLogoJPEG-NO-GREY-2-300x254by Kelli

From Silent No More comes a new campaign that seeks to raise awareness of how abortion affects not only women and children, but fathers, grandparents, siblings, friends, and society in general.

They write more about this campaign on their YouTube page:

When an abortion takes place, many people are impacted. Therefore, healing after abortion also has to be directed at many people. Nobody is wounded in isolation and nobody heals in isolation. The effects of abortion on the baby are clear, and we are becoming more aware of how the mother is wounded by this loss. However, both the pro-life movement and the wider society would benefit from a deeper awareness of the multifaceted wounds experienced by many groups of people within and beyond the family of the aborted child. It is no exaggeration to say that we are all affected and we all need healing. To raise that awareness, and to bring about that healing, is the purpose of this initiative….

We have seen how abortion is viewed as a very sensitive and private area of loss. While it certainly is sensitive, that doesn’t mean it should be ignored. We know that other sensitive issues in our society (sexual abuse, breast cancer, spousal abuse, suicide) have been the subject of greater education of the public, and encouragement to reach out for help. And this has benefited the public.

Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion will provide a year-long campaign featuring:

  • Education, resources and testimonies on the web and in print/radio/social media that will focus each month on a specific group of people that are impacted in a special way by abortion loss.
  • A nationwide call to accountability, repentance and reconciliation
  • A hope-filled invitation to healing.
  • Web pages will have materials relevant to each month’s topic, such as media talking points, press releases, position papers, and preaching aids and bulletin inserts for clergy/ministers.
  • Interviews and testimonies with a message of education and healing will be spread though radio, television and print – all promoted widely in various social media outlets to get the widest exposure possible.

Abortion proponent nails one big reason why the “S.S. Abortion” is sinking

Imani Gandy of RH Reality Check makes a good point: The “S.S. Abortion” is “doomed to forever plugging leaks” as long as its sole focus is on “the legal right to abortion.”

To be sure, S.S. Pro-Life also focuses on the legal right to abortion, blocking it, that is. But we are about so much more than that.

In particular, we support over 3,000 pregnancy care centers across the country.

S.S. Abortion only “helps” women by pointing them to baby torpedo factories.

But more than that, the officers of S.S. Abortion know their industry is extremely lucrative.

JODI-HEADSHOT-8-19-11-_100Take, for example, Imani Gandy’s boss, Jodi Jacobson (pictured right), president and editor-in-chief of RH Reality Check. She’s a comfortable member of the 1%.

In 2012, Jacobson made a cool $179,293, according to RHRC’s 990. That was 13% of its total revenue of $1,382,791.

In 2013, RHRC had a bit of money trouble, it’s total revenue dropping by a little over $200,000 to $1,180,247.

Belt tightening would be in order, no?

No. Jacobson got a nice little raise to $188,272, which amounted to 16% of RHRC’s total revenue.

That’s just one miniscule example, Imani. Your own poop deck stinks.

And you fool yourself if you think the focus will ever be any other than keeping the green flowing.

Word to the wise, Imani. You’re really on the Titanic.

Radical pro-abortion group plans “dramatic” confrontations next week at pro-life events in four major cities

stop-patriarchy-ut-2Stop Patriarchy is a pro-abortion group led by Communist Sunsara Taylor that believes “revolution” and a “counteroffensive” are needed to “radically reset” what it correctly sees as escalating “attacks on abortion.”

One tactic of Stop Patriarchy is to engage in “confrontational, dramatic, non-violent” protests.

Because the “war on women… is getting worse,” Stop Patriarchy is upping its game, planning protests next week in Washington, D.C., Oakland and San Francisco, California, and Austin, Texas, in conjunction with annual pro-life marches and rallies….

10256421_1011064285574329_8183431350739074959_n

How “radical” is Stop Patriarchy? Even mainstream abortion groups have distanced themselves from it.

2015-01-15_1143So it must be pretty bad.

One example of Stop Patriarch’s radicalism came just two days ago, when member Riley Ruiz was arrested at New York City’s Union Square subway  for “dramatic street theater consist[ing] of women lying ‘dead’ while wearing white outfits stained with blood between their legs and holding the faces of real women who died from botched abortion when it was not legally available.”

Riley is the one shouting in this video…

At next week’s protests Stop Patriarchy plans is to show 6-foot photos of pregnant mothers who died pre-Roe from illegal abortions.

2015-01-15_1157To accumulate enough photos, Stop Patriarchy apparently had to go all the way back to Clara Duvall in 1929, who may or may not have caused her own death by self-abortion.

Whatever, Stop Patriarchy is asking for artistic help in improving the poor quality of some of its photos.

I have some more recent photos Stop Patriarchy could use, photos of mothers who have died from legal abortions. Some died very recently, so their photos are nicely pixelated. Click to enlarge…

2015-01-15_1306

That’s Tonya Reaves on the left, who died at a Chicago Planned Parenthood in 2012. Next to her is Jennifer Morbelli, who died at the hand of infamous late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart in 2013; then Marla Cardamone, who died after an abortion at Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1989; then Christin Gilbert, a 19-yr-old with Down syndrome, who died in 2005 at the clinic of another infamous late-term abortionist, George Tiller, but who was likely killed by Carhart; then Lakisha Wilson, who died in 2014 after an abortion at Preterm Abortion Clinic in Cleveland, OH; then Karnamaya Mongar, who Kermit Gosnell killed in 2009; and finally Laura Smith, killed in 2007 at the hand of abortionist Rapin Osathanondh in Hyannis, MA.

I could go on.

In fact, the CDC reports 421 women have died from legal abortions in the U.S. since 1973. CDC’s latest figures show 10 women died in 2010 alone.

Meanwhile, the number of illegal abortions pre-Roe is well known to have been grossly exaggerated. Even pro-abortion columnist Ellen Goodman had to correct the ”10,000 a year” figure she used in a 2004 Boston Globe column. The year before Roe, 1972, 39 women died from illegal abortions, according to the CDC. Quoting StraightDope.com:

[W]e find that 1,682 abortion-related deaths were officially reported in 1940….

The biggest factor in reducing abortion mortality was undoubtedly the overall improvement in prenatal and obstetrical care after World War II.

The rate of pregnancy-related deaths from causes other than abortion dropped at roughly the same pace as the abortion death rate from 1940 through 1974….

The increased mass production of Penicillin beginning in 1943 was also a huge factor.

Pro-life group Created Equal plans to show pictures of post-Roe’s maternal victims [warning: link includes autopsy photos] at the D.C. March for Life – as well as a few of its 57 million preborn victims.

Can’t forget those, although Stop Patriarchy tries.

Pro-life vid of the day: Man who woke from coma speaks out

MartinPistorius

by Hans Johnson

A 12-year-old South African boy, Martin Pistorius (pictured at right), fell ill with what doctors could only guess to be Cryptococcal meningitus. He just ebbed away into a comatose state.

Then, about two years later, he awakened – able to see but not to move or speak. One day he heard his mother say in sad resignation: “I hope you die” to what she thought was the remaining husk of her son. He fell into a deeper and deeper depression.

But then he began to fight back with anger – perhaps spurred on by his exasperation with that singing purple dinosaur Barney he found himself parked in front of day after day! He recounts his slow journey back to life in the book Ghost Boy – My Escape From A Life Locked Inside My Own Body. He now lives in Britain with his wife Joanna.

MD officials consulted NARAL in effort to shut down pregnancy centers

by Kelli

Screen Shot 2015-01-14 at 5.30.07 PMEmails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request have revealed that Maryland government officials and activists with the state chapter of NARAL Pro-Choice America have been working closely together on a legal effort to shut down a local pro-life pregnancy care center.

The emails have also revealed a seven-part plan developed by NARAL to shut down pro-life pregnancy care centers that could indicate a nationwide strategy….

The emails obtained… reveal that, unbeknownst to the public, Montgomery County dropped the case after conferring with NARAL. The county stopped defending the law the month after NARAL recommended that very action in a March 14, 2014 letter, sent a week after the judge permanently blocked the law.

“It is our hope that the Montgomery County Council (Council) will once again partner with us to ensure Montgomery Council citizens are aware of the misleading tactics used by crisis pregnancy centers,” Maryland’s NARAL chapter president, Jodi Finkelstein, wrote….

In the letter, sent by the county to LifeSiteNews along with other emails through a Freedom of Information Act request, Finkelstein “strongly” recommended that the county drop the case and implement seven other strategies.

Those strategies include:

  • Prosecuting volunteers and employees of pregnancy care centers for “consumer protection violations”
  • Forbidding [PRCs] from “participating in advertising” that county officials deem “untrue or misleading”
  • Allowing women who claim they were “harmed by limited-service pregnancy centers to collect monetary damages” from women’s centers
  • Denying taxpayer funding to crisis pregnancy centers
  • Instructing county officials not to refer women to CPCs for ultrasounds or to “very clearly differentiate the centers from legitimate medical providers”
  • Having the county undertake a “public awareness campaign” against pregnancy centers…
  • The regulation of ultrasound practices.

“We are pleased to offer our continued assistance in any way as you move forward,” Finkelstein writes.

Pro-life vid of day: Men who regret involvement with abortion

by Hans Johnson

Pastor Shane Idleman, of Westside Christian Fellowship, recently confessed to his participation in an abortion more than two decades ago. It still haunts him, but he says there is hope for those who are hurting.

In this video, he and other men express regret and grief for their involvement with abortion:
