(Not so) pro-life vid of day: Clinic owner’s illegal abortion story

reneecheliannorthland-231x300by Kelli

Pro-choice feminist rhetoric continually pushes the idea that an abortion is no more serious or life-altering than having a cavity removed. Yet when even pro-choice women tell their abortion stories, it seems a common thread among them is that they can’t forget.

The first woman featured in the featured video (which she posted on YouTube) is Jennifer Leigh. While sharing very little information other than that she had an abortion, she says she “could tell you every single detail of that day.”

Renee Chelian (pictured), founder of the Northland Family Planning abortion conglomerate in Michigan (which offers coupons, special services, and abortions up to 24 weeks), follows with her story. Chelian had an illegal second-trimester abortion in 1966 at age 15.

Far from being an inconsequential experience, Chelian’s abortion was so life-altering that it eventually led her to start her own abortion clinic.

Chelian shares that after her abortion, her mother asked her if she wanted to see her aborted child. She did not. Near tears, she says, “I never asked her what it was. I didn’t care. I had a chance to finish high school and to go on with my life.”

Chelian’s story begins at 3:10:

[youtube]http://youtu.be/SpCF-68YBQI[/youtube]

Chelian is also known for unsuccessfully suing the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform in 2012 after the group published a video juxtaposing Northland’s “Angel of Light” clinic video (which described abortion as “courageous,” “thoughtful,” “normal,” and “sacred”) with actual abortion footage. Chelian reported that she was “sick to [her] stomach” and “crying” because “it was so painful to see such a sincere and good piece of work [the dishonest clinic video] treated so shabbily. It’s really hard to have to confront these things, emotionally big downers.”

Lesbians sue sperm bank over accidentally mixed-race baby

mom and baby

by Carder

On August 21, 2012, Jennifer gave birth to Payton, a beautiful, obviously mixed-race baby girl.

Jennifer bonded with Payton easily and she and Amanda love her very much. Even so, Jennifer lives each day with fears, anxieties, and uncertainty about her future and Payton’s future….

Though compelled to repress her individuality amongst family members, Payton’s differences are irrepressible, and Jennifer does not want Payton to feel stigmatized or unrecognized due simply to the circumstances of her birth.

Pro-life vid: Pro-choice woman reacts violently to abortion images

Last month, Created Equal began a fall campaign extending their abortion protest displays beyond college campuses to secondary schools in Ohio. In a tv news interview in front of Gahanna Lincoln High School, Executive Director Mark Harrington said: “This is a generation that’s sexually active, therefore they should see what abortion is like.” He added: “The National Education Association position on abortion is supporting abortion, so therefore students that are under that policy should see what abortion is.”

Two student comments about the visual displays of aborted fetuses ranged from odd to evasive, one saying it was “deceiving teenagers”, and the other seemed more concerned about their invasion of privacy than their deaths – “if” they were true.

In a follow-up report the next night on WBNS in Columbus, a woman said: “My daughter said that it was quite disgusting and that it made her want to cry – that she felt really bad about the baby and things.” It appears to me that is the point. (Watch video here.)

Most recently, a woman driving by a display near Pickerington Central High School on September 30th reacted viscerally to the images of abortion victims. A police officer, while calling the images “disgusting,” defended the group’s First Amendment rights.

Cosmo mag wrong about Jessa Duggar’s Holocaust remarks

by Kelli

jessa-duggarCosmo went into full anti-woman mode. [Writer Jill] Filipovic attacked Jessa Duggar for daring to put history into perspective….

Jessa’s remarks on Instagram conveyed a profound understanding of the past and applied it to the present. Over 56 million human lives have been butchered by an abortion industry birthed in the same racist and elitist pseudoscience of eugenics that created the racial hygiene theory that led to the slaughter of millions in the Holocaust….

Abortion and the Holocaust are so inextricably tied together, no amount of airbrushing could paint a different picture. The American Eugenics movement was the single-most potent influencer of Hitler’s ethnic and racial cleansing “solutions”. Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, was a member of the American Eugenics Society (AES). Guttmacher Institute’s founder, Alan F. Guttmacher (also President of Planned Parenthood) was the Vice President of AES. Most leadership involved in Planned Parenthood throughout the early to late 20th century, were involved in the American Eugenics Movement.

Prior to the holocaust, Sanger, like her fellow eugenicists, was a staunch proponent of forced sterilizations (only changing her tune to “voluntary” sterilization after the Holocaust revealed what happens when her rhetoric becomes reality)….

This led to our country’s forcible sterilization of over 60,000 people. Nazi Germany modeled its actions after what was already happening here in the United States.

Sanger helped to create the World Population Conferences, a global gathering of leading eugenicists, to promote birth control and other forms of population control. One… was Eugen Fischer…. Sanger included [him] as a contributing leader in her World Population Conference as evidenced here in the program for the event…. It was Fischer’s “racial hygiene theory” that Hitler adopted leading to the mass extermination of over 11 million precious lives.

Frederick Osborn (1889-1981), President of The American Eugenics Society, infamously declared in response to Roe v. Wade: “Birth Control and abortion are turning out to be the great eugenic advances of our time.”…

Jessa Duggar isn’t blinded to history by the broken lens of liberal feminism. The only thing deranged about tying abortion to the holocaust is deniers like Cosmo and its writers who think abortion is simply a fashionable choice.

~ Ryan Bomberger, Townhall.com, October 1

holocaustJessa’s full remarks via Instagram:

I walked through the Holocaust Museum again today… very sobering. Millions of innocents denied the most basic and fundamental of all rights–their right to life. One human destroying the life of another deemed “less than human.” Racism, stemming from the evolutionary idea that man came from something less than human; that some people groups are “more evolved” and others “less evolved.” A denying that our Creator–GOD–made us human from the beginning, all of ONE BLOOD and ONE RACE, descendants of Adam. The belief that some human beings are “not fit to live.” So they’re murdered. Slaughtered. Kids with Down syndrome or other disabilities. The sickly. The elderly. The sanctity of human life varies not in sickness or health, poverty or wealth, elderly or pre-born, little or lots of melanin [making you darker or lighter skinned], or any other factor. “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not He that pondereth the heart consider it? and He that keepeth thy soul, doth not He know it? and shall not He render to every man according to his works?” (Proverbs 24:10-12) May we never sit idly by and allow such an atrocity to happen again. Not this generation. We must be a voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves. Because EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS. #ProLife

Pro-life vid of the day: The terracotta daughters of China

artexhibit

by Hans Johnson

French sculptor Prune Nourry has an exhibit currently at the China Institute in New York City. It is modeled after the famous archaelogical discovery of the Terracotta Warriors near the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of all China toward the end of the 3rd Century B.C.

Like those ancient statues, this exhibit (of 108 figures) is of different individuals. But they represent something more poignant: the more than 40 million Chinese girls who have been aborted because of their gender, primarily because of the One-Child Policy.

Nourry based the first models on eight orphan girls she had photographed. By selling them she has funded more than three years of their education.

Also bringing to light the issue of female gendercide, we recommend the documentary, It’s a Girl, available for viewing in its entirety on Hulu and Netflix.

If Planned Parenthood collapses, the abortion industry collapses, Part II

Defund Planned Parenthood abortion kingpin and its clinicsIs it really conceivable that Planned Parenthood could crash, bringing the entire abortion industry down with it? I answer that question today.

Backdrop: “If Planned Parenthood collapses, the abortion industry collapses, Part I.”

As powerful and wealthy as Planned Parenthood appears, its position is tenuous, upheld only by political friends and courts. In contraceptive terms, Planned Parenthood has no Plan B.

Planned Parenthood would hardly have noticed losing taxpayer funding 50 years ago, in 1964. This was when it reported its first government subsidy - chump change of $8,500. Planned Parenthood’s annual income at the time was $6.2 million, 70% of which came from donors, and 30% from clinics.

By 1970, Planned Parenthood’s annual income had jumped to $26.4 million, thanks in large part to taxpayers, who contributed 43% of the total. It was during this period that Planned Parenthood began multiplying clinics. According to Jim Sedlak of American Life League:

In 1962, the year before it received its first taxpayer funds, Planned Parenthood operated fewer than 200 clinics. By 1973, that number had exploded to 700. This, of course, meant that Planned Parenthood’s influence in our nation grew greatly because of government largesse.

In FY2013, 45% of Planned Parenthood’s whopping $1.21 billion income came from taxpayers, to the tune of $540.6 million. Today only 26% of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue is derived from donations, and 25% from clinics.

Planned Parenthood abortion giant clinic in Fon du Lac closesHow dependent is Planned Parenthood’s nationwide chain on government funding? As Sedlak pointed out, Planned Parenthood was only able to build its conglomerate with taxpayer help.

And only last week Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin claimed it had to close its fifth clinic since 2013 all due to a mere $1 million loss in state funding.

One should expect a certain amount of fudging on Planned Parenthood’s part; it has been known to conveniently blame clinic closures on government defunding when they were themselves to blame.

But it must also be true that Planned Parenthood is only able to sustain its massive infrastructure with government help. And that is where its potential downfall lies.

“I have always said that if all state and federal tax-funding were cut off from Planned Parenthood, their abortion empire would collapse like dominos,” wrote Operation Rescue’s Cheryl Sullenger via email. “I doubt if more than a handful of clinics of any affiliation could survive without an artificial influx of money from outside sources.”

Sedlak agreed: “Planned Parenthood is set up for destruction if Americans ever get the guts to elect politicians who care.”

Planned Parenthood made the decision long ago to tie its future to the whims of government. Its leaders apparently never considered the organization might some day become anathema, with a segment of the population and politicians calling for it to be defunded.

Planned Parenthood abortion clinic staffer makes graphic sexual suggestionsWhatever murmuring may have been heard before only became real noise beginning in 2007, when Live Action launched its investigations against Planned Parenthood, first revealing the organization would accept donations specifically to abort  black babies, then that it would cover up underage rape, then that it would aid and abet sex traffickers, then that it would commit sex-selective abortions, and most recently that it would encourage minors to engage in violent BDSM.

Add to that charges around the country of Medicaid fraud, failure to report child sexual abuse, substandard clinics, and perverted doctors, and you begin to see momentum that has blossomed into a bill to defund Planned Parenthood and a congressional investigation of the organization.

obama valentine2 If not for President Barack Obama, Planned Parenthood might already be going the way of Enron. It is only he who kept Planned Parenthood from being defunded on the federal level in 2011 and in several more states than it already has.

Planned Parenthood knows this. It knows it is only one presidential election away from seeing its political fortunes turn to dust.

Losing the Senate in 2014 would be an advance blow, hence Planned Parenthood’s plan to spend a whopping $18 million this election cycle, in large part attacking the “Extreme Six” Republican Senate candidates who could swing the majority, setting up for a Republican trifecta in 2016.

Planned Parenthood abortion clinic behemoth fighting Republican takeover of SenatePlanned Parenthood’s situation is all the more dire when considering it could lose its tax-exempt status if convicted of Medicaid fraud, cases of which are beginning to snowball; or lose the windfall profits it is anticipating if Obamacare is overturned or if the contraceptive mandate and abortion funding are repealed; or lose its lucrative contraceptive pill trade (for which it has been known to double- and triple-bill taxpayers) if it is made available over-the-counter.

Added to the recent slew of pro-life laws, the fragility of the abortion industry becomes clear when also considering its eggs are increasingly in one basket, and that basket is wearing thin. From the STOPP Report, September 24:

STOPP’s 2013 Survey of Planned Parenthood facilities shows the abortion giant suffered the eighth straight year of decline in both total facilities and affiliates. Planned Parenthood reported running a total of 695 clinic facilities as of December 30, 2013 - the lowest number reported since 1973.Planned Parenthood’s number of affiliates decreased from 74 in 2012 to 71 in 2013, continuing the trend of massive consolidation in management since the high point of 191 Planned Parenthood affiliates in 1978.

We have continued to see a hefty stream of closures in 2014. Planned Parenthood most frequently cited pressure from legislation, be it defunding efforts or laws tightening clinic standards, as the main reason for facility closures during 2013. In states where legislative pressure was not felt, it most frequently reported facility closures due to a dwindling customer base and efforts to consolidate facilities nearer to its core demographic. In 2013, 79% of the facilities closed were contraceptive-only facilities.

It is clear that Planned Parenthood is preparing for even more facility closures as it implements its community organizer model and online birth control counseling. As it does so, it is focusing more and more on its lucrative abortion business.

Because it has to. Planned Parenthood is driven to take over the abortion industry by greed and survival, needing a financial stream aside from the government funding model it has grown dependent on, and also banking on government funding of abortion.

And the abortion lobby is helpless to stop what insiders surely must see as a coming train wreck.

Maternity Halloween costume could pass for pro-life

  • At Live Action News, Lauren Enriquez gives an update on the courageous teacher who took a stand against Planned Parenthood’s indoctrination of his students and was fired for it. He has filed a wrongful termination suit:

Planned Parenthood persisted in bribing his students with cash and gifts to sign up for the government-funded “Teen Outreach Program” even after [Bill] Diss asked them to leave. And the clearly-biased school administration sided with Planned Parenthood, subjecting Diss to scrutiny and discrimination for his belief that Planned Parenthood’s involvement in his math class was not in the best interest of his students’ well-being.

  • After Abortion quotes an article in which a UK psychotherapist says she has witnessed ill effects in post-abortive women, despite studies concluding that abortion does not generally affect them:

Over the years, I’ve noticed that a large proportion of women who come for therapy have terminated a pregnancy. As they begin to talk about the abortion, they become very emotional and express feelings of great sorrow and confusion.

Some of these women are astonished that having a termination has affected them so badly, despite believing they were right to halt the pregnancy.

  • Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life discusses the strong pro-abortion record of state Gov. Mark Dayton, who is running for re-election. He has vetoed several pro-life bills passed by the Legislature and thinks taxpayers need to pay for abortions:

The Legislature passed a bill to stop the use of taxpayer funds to pay for abortions. Dayton vetoed the bill.

Taxpayers will pay about $3.5 million for 14,000 abortions during Dayton’s four years as governor. If a 2009 estimate from the Guttmacher Institute (a staunch advocate of unlimited abortion) is applied to the public funding numbers in Minnesota, about 3,500 fewer Minnesota women would have had abortions over Dayton’s tenure if the state did not pay for abortions.

The Legislature passed bans on human cloning and the taxpayer funding of human cloning, but Dayton vetoed both.

  • Clinic Quotes highlights a statement made by a pro-choice nun who supports the idea that the Virgin Mary was also pro-choice:

I was reminded of being with men and women from the Unitarian faith tradition last year as they celebrated Mary who by her assent, they believed, was one of the first women in the New Testament to express Choice.

  • American Life League’s Judie Brown encourages us to be persistent and not grow weary in fighting for the rights of the unborn:

Human existence and its indisputable integrity are not negotiable, though in our day and age many would disagree. We hear words like “freedom of choice” and “constitutional right” being applied to life and death questions. Many of us often shrink from debating the falsehoods integral to these phrases for fear that we might offend someone or seem intolerant. And sadly, this hesitancy is exactly what the enemy expects.
