Pro-life blog buzz 9-19-14

  • Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust share several powerful experiences they have had in their campus outreach efforts. One Survivor encountered a rape victim who had a subsequent abortion:

After she told me the circumstances of the assault, I asked her, “Did the abortion help you heal from the rape?”

“You know, I never think of the rape itself anymore, but I think of this every day,” she gestured at the picture of the aborted child.

  • ProLife NZ cross posts an article from Life Site News about the training an abortion doula goes through to become steeled to the ugliness of the business. Lying and distraction are just a normal part of the job. One interesting quote:

But for all the pain they have witnessed, abortion doulas are relatively unmoved about what they are doing.

Doula Project co-founder [Mary] Mahoney has admitted “those pictures pro-life activists flash are real.”

  • Right to Life of Michigan reports on the trial of abortionist Robert Alexander for “allegations of incompetency and negligence stemming from the closure of his Muskegon clinic in December of 2012 by the fire marshal.”

Authorities reportedly “seemed distressed by the dozens of health and safety violations which were found at the clinic,” which included things like unsterilized and rusty equipment, “used needles on the ground,” and even “buckets of fluid containing ‘fleshy’ substances.”

The judge found Alexander guilty of negligence and now the Board of Medicine will decide if he gets to retain his license and what, if any, sanctions will be imposed.

  • At ProWomanProLife, Faye Sonier points out how the days of “safe, legal, and rare” are nearly gone from the vocabulary of abortion supporters. But does this help or hurt the pro-life position? Sonier writes:

I think the pro-choice position is being forced to swing so far in that direction – the celebration of abortion – that it is again providing us with an opportunity to reach people. Because most people cannot celebrate it. And I don’t think it’s due to cultural stigma (an argument they often toss out), but due to the fact that we know what is in the womb (hello sonograms) and it’s within our nature to want to protect our offspring, not kill them.

  • Suzy B reports on the increased political support for the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, sponsored by Sen. Lindsey Graham (pictured right with NRLC president Carol Tobias). Graham sees the bill as common sense, saying, “If you’re telling parents to sing to the baby because they understand your voice, should we really be aborting a child at the stage of the pregnancy?… I don’t want anybody carrying the republican banner that doesn’t get this. If you don’t get this, then you’re the extremist.”

The U.S. is one of only seven countries which allows abortion past 20 weeks, joining countries like North Korea and China.

  • At Priests for Life, Alveda King wonders about where we are seeking wisdom – from God or from man? King discusses the use of euphemisms and the role of the “consigliere” or advisor in American political and social decision-making.
  • At Real Choice, Christina Dunigan responds to Wendy Davis’ abortion story by taking doctors to task when they are so quick to recommend abortion:

Doctors are by nature people who are driven to take action against suffering. But… [t]he suffering is reduced not for the family, but for the doctor, who, after the abortion, no longer needs to go through the ordeal of prenatal visits that can only bring bad news: that the inevitable has happened and the baby has died. If the woman aborts, the doctor’s suffering is certainly lessened. But it is the patient who pays the price….

Perinatal hospice is not nearly as easy for the physician as an abortion referral….

The greatest tragedy of these situations is that so few women are given [perinatal hospice] support. Too few are even told that even if perinatal hospice isn’t available in their area, there is still support from other parents who have faced the same ordeal, the same choice, and found their joy.

Many abortion supporters argue that it should still be the woman’s choice about how she deals with the dreadful news that her unborn baby is dying. But how much is it a real choice, when doctors and other medical professionals are urging an abortion, are assuring her that it will be for the best, and are pressing her to make a decision quickly, while she’s still reeling from such a blow?

Two Pennsylvania sisters not only received news of their pregnancies a day apart… but gave birth to their sons just 22 hours apart.

From ABC7News.com comes the story of Emily Whitaker and Brigid Bink, who reportedly “still can’t believe” it all happened quite this way. Click the image below to watch:

NRLC prez reacts to Miss America’s Planned Parenthood internship

by Carder

Miss AmericaIt would be a tragedy if someone who is looked up to by many young women actually buys into the Planned Parenthood abortion agenda. Unfortunately, most people in the country don’t know that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider.

This will cast a shadow on her entire reign.

~ National Right to Life president Carol Tobias, criticizing Miss America 2015, Kira Kazantsev, for having interned at Planned Parenthood, Fox News, September 17

Obama uses the “Chicago Way” to illegally force taxpayers to fund abortion

chicago wayFour of Illinois’ last seven governors ended up in prison for corruption convictions ranging from bribery to racketeering.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in the state ironically known as the Land of Lincoln.

I doubt people truly grasped the meaning of the “Chicago Way“ when they joked back in 2008 that Chicago politician Barack Obama took it with him to the White House.

But there are now plenty of examples of a lawless president who lets nothing stand between him and his agenda, which includes destroying political opponents and foes alike.

Along the way Obama has also betrayed plenty of friends – Democrats, unions, immigration advocates, and even his pastor, to name just some.

But there is one friend Obama has never, ever let down - abortion, and more specifically, America’s #1 abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

Obama was willing to shut down the federal government for Planned Parenthood, and he has circumvented several state governments to keep Planned Parenthood’s funding stream undammed.

Obamacare was always anticipated to hand Planned Parenthood a flood of new money through government funded contraceptive sales and sexually or gynecologically related menial healthcare. Other perks have come by surprise, such as HHS bestowing Planned Parenthood a combined total of over $1 million in 2013 and 2014 to help citizens “navigate” Obamacare.

But Obama always denied Obamacare would fund abortion, even though everyone, including Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards and Obama’s former chief-of-staff Rahm Emanuel (now mayor of Chicago) saw through the ruse.

Now, the ruse is up, although what difference will it make? Obama will continue to flout the law to subsidize abortion with taxpayer dollars, which both pro-lifers and abortion supporters know was always the goal. The Washington Examiner explains:

Again and again, during the congressional debate, Obamacare defenders promised: Obamacare subsidies won’t subsidize abortion; customers will be able to choose insurance plans that don’t cover abortion; Obamacare subsidies, if they want to pay for abortion coverage, will be billed separately.

A new GAO report shows that Obamacare is failing on these counts.

Warning of “bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost,” for instance, President Obama told Congress in 2009: “And one more misunderstanding I want to clear up - under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.”

Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson (now a healthcare lobbyist) became the 60th vote for Obamacare after supposedly winning a compromise from his party on abortion coverage. Nelson explained it this way:

If you are receiving Federal assistance to buy insurance, and if that plan has any abortion coverage, the insurance company must bill you separately, and you must pay separately from your own personal funds … for that abortion coverage.

The new GAO study shows that, instead, taxpayers are subsidizing abortions. Customers in five states have no abortion-free plans available to them, and in many states, customers can’t tell which plans cover abortion and which don’t.

What can be done?

Nothing without a Republican-controlled Senate. The House passed HR-7, which would eliminate abortion funding in Obamacare, but Democrat Senate President Harry Reid won’t take the bill up.

Congress could impeach Obama, but a Republican Senate is needed for that as well, and the GOP may be too chicken to bring Obama’s chickens home to roost.

Even then, would Obama sign such a bill? Based on his history of supporting abortion to the point of infanticide, I doubt it.

Pro-life vid of day: Cosmo doesn’t speak for these women

by Hans Johnson

While some news magazines are known for making endorsements, it’s quite unusual for a more specialized medium to do so. One wouldn’t expect Popular Mechanics or Cat Fancy to get into the political fray. But Cosmopolitan has recently launched #CosmoVotes to do just that for the midterm elections. They will push for candidates who  support a strictly leftist slant on”women’s issues” such as unfettered access to abortion and birth control.

When Townhall editor and commentator Guy Benson wondered if Cosmo’s editors were serving their readers, NARAL used this as an example of sexism for a fundraising email.

But does Benson have a point? After all, isn’t a cosmopolitan one who is “free from local, provincial, or national ideas, prejudices, or attachments; at home all over the world?” Would excluding half the readers meet that definition? Here was the discussion on Fox News’ Outnumbered:

Why the selective outrage over showing abortion victim images?

createdequaljumbotronby Kelli

Before the release of footage of one football player slugging his wife, he received a two game suspension. Later, when the footage revealing the actual strike was released to the public… people became disgusted. The slugger was punished twice for the same offense… [and is] no longer allowed to be a part of the NFL.

Imagine if the footage in those cases was not revealed. It would not have the same impact….

Animal rights and groups which feel compassion for abused, starved, tortured animals are allowed to show imagery on television and elsewhere. Where is the outrage over that?

Slaughtering a tiny new human being who is defenseless, innocent, and depends on mother for her life, is the worse of all the aforementioned, combined, yet, for some reason, people become all sensitive, outraged, and offended when defenders of innocent babies reveal the truth of abortion…. People become more upset if an animal in utero is abused or killed than a human baby suffering a worse fate….

Millions of people watch movies which depict women being assaulted, stripped naked, tortured, raped, dismembered, burned alive, screaming in agony and terror, pleading for mercy, pleading to be released, pleading for their lives….

Why is it so many have the stomach for such vile imagery… but demand that imagery of the real effects of elective, induced abortion are adamantly blocked, fought, and touted as unfit for public scrutiny?

It makes no sense.

Let people see what abortion really is and then let them defend the disgusting, truly offensive, violent, blood slaughter of innocent babies pushed by a society which raises abortion up to some sacred, wonderful experience and a badge of honor making a woman a conqueror, a victor over some weird concept of “power,” and “autonomy.”

Yes, high schoolers SHOULD see abortion victims. They might already be rather jaded from ingesting the imagery from all the abusive athletes, suffering animals, torture and abuse in movies, and so forth, but they should see and become educated in the truth and counter the whitewashed imagery of abortion as some wonderful, sacred, women liberating rite of passage.

~ Commenter William, remarking on why images of abortion victims should be seen by the public, in response to “Pro-life vid of day: Should high schoolers see abortion victims?” at JillStanek.com, September 17

Pro-life vid of day: Should high schoolers see abortion victims?

westerville southby Kelli

Created Equal recently posted signs displaying the victims of abortion in front of Westerville South High School in Ohio (pictured), which disturbed some people.

One YouTube commenter even accused the group of “literally turning into Westboro Baptist!!!!” (One might reasonably object to the use of the term “literally” here, and to the suggestion that displaying images of the victims of a human atrocity is akin to spreading a message of hatred against soldiers and gays.)

But at least one woman passing by spoke in support of the group’s actions, believing Created Equal to be right to focus their campaign on teens. After all, we’re not talking about primary schoolers here. High schoolers can legally, and without parental notification in most cases, obtain abortions.

According to the abortion-favoring research organization Guttmacher, “Eighteen percent of U.S. women obtaining abortions are teenagers; those aged 15–17 obtain 6% of all abortions, 18–19-year-olds obtain 11%, and teens younger than 15 obtain 0.4%,” and “Fifty-one percent of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method in the month they got pregnant, most commonly condoms (27%) or a hormonal method (17%).” These are the numbers, despite the promotion of comprehensive sex education in schools, and despite the over-the-counter distribution of emergency contraception, even to teens.

Warning: Some profanity…

Could seeing abortion affect teens when they’re considering abortion? Do you agree or disagree with Created Equal’s actions?

Duck Dynasty star: Don’t ever vote for pro-abortion politicians

1219-phil-robertson-2by Carder

There are about 90 to 100 million of us who claim Jesus. The problem is only half of you register to vote and out of the half of you that registers to vote, only half of that group actually goes and votes….

Therefore, when you’re looking up there and griping and complaining about what you see in Washington, D.C., you might as well shut up. The reason they’re there is we’re putting them there. If you don’t get anything else out of this, remember this — register to vote for crying out loud…

If the dude or woman is for ripping human fetuses out of their mother’s womb, don’t ever vote for that. Don’t ever say ‘yes’ to that. It’s terrible.

~ Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson admonishing Christians to register to vote and NOT to vote for pro-abortion politicians, The Times, September 15
