Pro-life blog buzz 12-2-14

by Susie Allen, host of the blog, Pro-Life in TN, and Kelli Saynsumthn’s Blog says the CDC and Guttmacher abortion numbers don’t agree, and here’s why: the CDC gathers only data that is reported voluntarily from certain states. Guttmacher gathers much more comprehensive data, which is why their abortion numbers for the latest year available […]

The abortion industry’s looming RU-486 legal crisis

RU-486 mifepristone abortion pillA Politico article today about new abortion cases that could reach the Supreme Court gave bare mention of its potential review of RU-486 regulation.

But due a circuit court split on laws regulating the administration of RU-486, such a review looks likely - and promising for the pro-life side.

If Planned Parenthood collapses, so does the abortion industry, Part 1

Planned Parenthood abortion clinic industry coming collapse?Had Planned Parenthood gone under in 1986, the abortion industry would hardly have noticed. At the time Planned Parenthood was committing only 6.2% of all U.S. abortions.

That was then.

With a total of 342 abortion clinics at last count (174 surgical/168 medical), Planned Parenthood now owns 46% of the remaining 751 abortion clinics in the U.S.

Planned Parenthood’s biggest abortion surge has been in the field of medical (RU-486) abortions. Planned Parenthood operates 90% of all U.S. medical abortion clinics, according to AbortionDocs.org. Here’s a chart from STOPP.org:

Slimy pro-abortion congressional candidate mails condoms to pro-lifers

James Woods condom strategy to pro-life advocates

Why do I think Democrat pro-abortion congressional candidate James Woods is slimy?

Aside from the fact Woods retaliated against a pro-life letter writing campaign by mailing condoms back to pro-lifers, he introduced his condom strategy on Facebook with “Got Wood(s)?” What person running for U.S. Congress goes gutter like that?

Woods is also a card-carrying atheist, which may help explain his lack of decorum. Here’s the letter he sent with his condoms:

  • The FRC Blog explains how Democrat Sen. Patty Murray’s hasty “Protect Women’s Health From Corporate Interference Act of 2014” bill is actually anti-civil rights, anti-constitutional, anti-business, anti-religion, anti-woman, and just downright discriminatory.

Number of states with waiting periods before abortion jumps by 225%

thinking-woman (1)On May 21, the Missouri General Assembly passed legislation tripling the length of time an abortion-minded pregnant mother must wait in that state before killing her baby, bumping it up from 24 hours to 72 hours.

Unknown is whether Democrat Gov. Jay Nixon will sign or veto the bill.

Is he does, Missouri will join two other states, Utah and South Dakota, with a three-day waiting period.

Abortion happy Huffington Post lamented such common sense laws. Supposed pro-“choicers” appear to fear mothers might change their minds if given any breathing room whatsoever to ponder the immensely consequential decision they are making. HuffPo added this interesting chart…

We are winning the war against abortion in America on all measurable fronts

facebook_1985578370

You may (or may not!) have noticed I’ve been out-of-pocket a few days. I was in Dublin, Ireland, where I was asked to speak at the National Convention for Life 2014 on April 12.

16668_606486482773510_604782369_nThe daylong event was more than sold out. Many came who hadn’t registered, and although there were dozens of chairs added, some of the 600 attendees still had to stand.

The life issue is huge in Ireland, which was abortion free until the tragic death in 2012 of Savita Halappanavar and her 17-wk-old baby, which abortion zealots exploited and lied about to push through a law legalizing abortion for medical emergencies and suicidal ideation last year.

In that light, NCFL organizers asked me to encourage our Irish counterparts by describing how we are winning the war against abortion in America. You can view my speech here, but I thought I’d post the statistics I showed – many compiled by abortion proponents – demonstrating that we are indeed prevailing in just about every measurable way. Shocking graph: Planned Parenthood’s market share now 1/3 of all U.S. abortions

2014-03-17_1222American Life League’s STOPP reported in February:

Here are some comparative numbers based on the Guttmacher report entitled “Abortion Incidence and Service Availability in the United States, 2011,” and Planned Parenthood’s annual reports, showing Planned Parenthood’s ever-increasing share of the U.S. abortion market:

Planned Parenthood committed 31.6% of abortions nationwide in 2011
Planned Parenthood committed 23.3% of abortions nationwide in 2006
Planned Parenthood committed 16.5% of abortions nationwide in 2001
Planned Parenthood committed 11.3% of abortions nationwide in 1996
Planned Parenthood committed 8.5% of abortions nationwide in 1991
Planned Parenthood committed 6.2% of abortions nationwide in 1986

The graph below shows that Planned Parenthood abortions continue to soar, even as national abortion rates have declined and leveled off.
