Sunday Word: “The words of the godly save lives”

The plans of the godly are just; the advice of the wicked is treacherous. The words of the wicked are like a murderous ambush, but the words of the godly save lives. Proverbs 12:5-6, New Living Translation

Are some photos of abortion victims too gory?

Aborted baby's handMonica Miller, PhD, Director of Citizens for a Pro-life Society, has sparked conversation recently within pro-life activist circles, asking us to reevaluate which photos of abortion victims we display in their necessary role of helping end legalized abortion.

Miller is one of the few pro-lifers who has actually retrieved aborted babies from the trash and photographed their remains.

Many of Miller’s thoughts on this subject are taken from her September 2013 New Oxford Review article, available for $1.50 or by going CPL’s homepage. This post highlights some of Miller’s points with the goal to prompt discussion and new thinking on this important topic.

Be sure to take the poll at the end of this post.

1)  “Graphic Images” or “Abortion Victim Photos”?

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve taken this first recommendation of Miller’s to heart. I now always use the term “abortion victim photos” or “photos of abortion victims.” I’ve abandoned “graphic abortion photos.”

Per Miller:

Sunday Word: “Whoever accepts money to kill an innocent person will be cursed”

“Whoever accepts money to kill an innocent person will be cursed.” Then all the people will say amen. ~ Deuteronomy 27:25, God’s Word translation

You have judged and murdered people who aren’t guilty. And they weren’t even opposing you. ~ James 5:6, New International Readers Version [Photos (click to enlarge) via xojane.com’s “abortion gallery”]

  • Another former employee of Planned Parenthood of Delaware is set to testify about the dangerous practices at their clinic:

Former manager Melody Meanor and two nurses said they will testify today at a legislative hearing in Wilmington that Planned Parenthood failed to inform as many as 200 women that they tested positive for gonorrhea and chlamydia, and failed to notify 87 women of results of their colposcopies.

  • Why is it that people who know next to nothing about the Gosnell case seem to think their incredibly ignorant opinions are worthy putting into print? Forbes embarrasses itself by publishing a commentary by Amesh Adalja, who seems to think that if Pennsylvania’s unenforced abortion restrictions were removed, someone like Gosnell would “instantly evaporate.” Adalja clearly hasn’t read the Gosnell Grand Jury report and likely has no clue that Gosnell’s clinic wasn’t inspected for 17 years:

I believe it is no coincidence that Pennsylvania, a state with some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation (and hence the potential for a lucrative black market), was where an individual like Kermit Gosnell decided to operate his alleged infanticide operation.

Advocates of freedom in medicine would do well to include all aspects of medical care, irrespective of faith-based opposition, in the quest to allow for capitalism’s return to healthcare. Not only will the removal of such restrictions enhance liberty, but also instantly evaporate any nascent back-alley black markets.

St. Patrick, Obama, and the Dubliner

image

The Dubliner, in Washington, DC, is the beloved Irish pub where pro-lifers congregate to inspire, conspire, and console before and after the March for Life each January as well as other meeting times throughout the year.

It is fitting, since Ireland is abortion free.

Last year President Obama violated our sacred space on St. Patrick’s Day.

Stanek Sunday quote: “All this loose sex, sheer anarchy, one murder after another!”

God indicts the whole population: “No one is faithful. No one loves. No one knows the first thing about God. All this cussing and lying and killing, theft and loose sex, sheer anarchy, one murder after another! And because of all this, the very land itself weeps and everything in it is grief-stricken – animals […]
