  • Wesley J. Smith reports on a life-affirming statement from the American Medical Association and the World Medical Association rejecting euthanasia and assisted suicide as incompatible with the role of the physician as healer. The groups believe these practices “would be difficult or impossible to control, and would pose serious societal risks.”

  • In First Things, Clarke Forsythe discusses how the Supreme Court helped create abortionists like Kermit Gosnell:

Because the Justices foolishly believed that abortion had few risks, and that abortion providers should have complete discretion to decide how to perform abortions in the first trimester, the Justices said that state and local officials could not regulate them in the first trimester. The Justices prohibited state health and safety regulations for abortion clinics in the first trimester of pregnancy when 90 percent of abortions are performed.

  • The woman from El Salvador whom abortion advocates have been claiming (for weeks) would die if she didn’t get an abortion will have an early Caesarean section delivery of her child next week, according to the Telegraph.

For some reason, the title of one abortion advocate’s article is claiming a Caesarean delivery is an “emergency abortion” though the writer admits it’s not an abortion in the article. They must have really wanted that “life-saving” abortion.

  • Some thoughts on Gosnell from Ramesh Ponnuru:

The question that should haunt us now is not how many victims Gosnell killed, which we will never know, but how many more Gosnells there are in our country.

  • And from Robert George, who I hope is correct:

Late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell has been convicted of first degree murder for killing babies after delivering them alive….But Dr. Gosnell is only the front man; and the real trial has only just begun. The defendant is the abortion license in America.

Nationwide campaign launched to take down abortion industry via civil lawsuits

LDI 3Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards told The Hill a couple days ago she thrives on controversy.

Well, this news should really boost her endorphins.

Pro-life group Life Dynamics has launched an ambitious campaign to educate all of the nation’s personal injury attorneys of an enormous opportunity to file civil lawsuits on behalf of child sex abuse victims and their families against abortion clinics that did not report the crime.

  • At the Washington Post, Erik Wemple busts NARAL president Ilyse Hogue’s obvious lie that NARAL was “first out of the gate to call attention to [the Gosnell] case”:

Having done precisely 3,454 Nexis and Internet search on the Gosnell case, we missed the part where NARAL had led a charge to highlight the alleged atrocities in West Philadelphia. So we Nexised again, checking on NARAL’s footprint around the time that Gosnell was indicted in January 2011. Not much there. When asked to provide news releases or other evidence of activism around that time, NARAL didn’t provide anything.

Kermit who? Abortion zealots still claim emergency access to clinics unnecessary

20120121-191413One of many complaints abortion supporters have against clinic regulations, which they call TRAP laws – Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers – is a requirement for wider doors and hallways than clinics apparently usually have.

“At no point does the width of doorways have any bearing on the medical treatment that’s being administered,” griped Planned Parenthood of Indiana Executive Director Betty Cockrum to jconline.com.

Planned Parenthood of Delaware halts abortions, is investigated after rash of 911 calls

Featured on Drudge now…

Planned Parenthood of Delaware has suspended surgical abortions (although not medical) at the two of its three clinics that commit them, in Dover and Wilmington, following a spate of five emergency calls since January 4….

Kudos to 6ABC.com for breaking this story, which reported the Delaware Department of Health and the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline are now investigating.

Two former PP employees, both nurses, are blowing the whistle. Kudos to them as well:
