• Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life says Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton appears to value dogs and cats more than the women of his state who procure abortions:
  

  A measure to license and inspect commercial dog and cat breeders — passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Mark Dayton earlier this year — went into effect on July 1. The new regulations throw into sharp relief Dayton’s refusal to accept any state licensing or inspection of abortion facilities, which perform thousands of surgical procedures on Minnesota women each year.

There is a mesmerizing time-lapse video at the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois, that in four minutes shows the North’s four-year takeover of the South during the Civil War (screen shots above – view a video clip here).

• At National Review Online, Wesley Smith wonders why Planned Parenthood  has to close so many clinics in Texas due to the new law requiring the abortionist on call to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles:

  If abortion was really only 3% of PP – as the organization claims – would a safety restriction of this kind really force 12 PP clinics to close?”

  If they were serving women for routine medical needs, STI testing and giving out free birth control, this would not be needed. Time to get your talking points freshened up. It’s all about abortion, abortion, abortion.

• Pro-lifers in Tennessee are beginning a year-long campaign to overturn a 2008 Tennessee Supreme Court ruling which prevents them from passing certain pro-life laws.
• 12 News Now covers the inspection of a Beaumont, Texas, abortion clinic and its 13 violations:
  The October 3 inspection at Whole Woman’s Health of Beaumont turned up potential health issues.

  The report says the facility failed to provide a safe environment for patients and staff. The suction machines which were used on patients had numerous rusty spots which, “had the likelihood to cause infection.”The report also says, “the facility failed to have the EKG monitoring equipment ready if an emergency situation occurred….”

• Expose Abortion has a haunting quote from former abortion practitioner Susan Thayer, discussing how abortion providers must be gradually desensitized to the grisly work of abortion:
  

  I walked into the surgical suite and headed toward the foot of the exam table. I was stopped and told to sit in a chair by the door because, they said, nearly everyone who watches the first time, can’t take it and either get sick or faint. Once you make it through one abortion, you are allowed to gradually move closer to the patient, therefore seeing more of the procedure.

Statistics tell us that 50-55% of teens experiencing unplanned pregnancies choose single parenting, 30-35% choose abortion, and less than 1% choose to place their children for adoption.

These statistics are disturbing. What if we could reverse the statistics of abortion and adoption? With two million couples waiting to adopt, why doesn’t adoption seem to be an option on the radar screen of parents experiencing unplanned pregnancies?

One reason appears to be that even in well-written articles, adoption is framed in outdated and negative language. Even some professionals  who deal with teens have an inaccurate view of adoption, perpetuated by made-for-TV movies showing adoption as it was in the 1970’s. Today, options aren’t so limited, with open, semi-open, and confidential adoptions.

• At National Review, Michael New reports that despite the Rasmussen poll which supposedly showed an increase in pro-choice sentiment following the November election, nothing really changed from their previous April poll:
  

  Rasmussen’s April survey also showed that likely voters were more likely to describe themselves as “pro-choice” rather than” pro-life,” by a 51–40 margin. In short, the “war on women” rhetoric and the statements by Akin and Mourdock only resulted in a three-percentage-point gain in “pro-choice” sentiment — a difference that falls within the poll’s margin of error….

  [Th]e Democrats’ emphasis on abortion and contraception… likely succeeded in increasing turnout among pro-choice voters. It also likely made pro-choice voters more likely to cast their vote based on the abortion issue. However, the results of the Rasmussen survey provide little evidence that this fall’s election cycle substantially shifted public opinion in favor of legal abortion.
