  • At New Wave Feminists, our latest blog addition, Destiny says that her son, for whom she chose life when she experienced an unplanned pregnancy as a teen, was “the best thing that ever happened” to her. Rather than ruining her life, he made her strong:

Had I aborted him it would’ve been out of nothing but fear and panic. I would be living in bondage and regret to this day. Through bringing him into this world though I became a feminist, an activist, an advocate for women whose shoes I’ve traveled in. And because of that unplanned pregnancy I found out I was stronger than I ever knew I was. In my opinion, that’s what true feminism is all about.

Big Abortion’s big lies about the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act

taxpayer funding abortionWorld Magazine gives the backdrop:

President Barack Obama last year told Americans he was sorry after it became clear that his oft-repeated claim, “If you like your insurance, you can keep it,” was demonstrably false.

Obama has been much slower, however, to admit fault for another dishonest claim: He secured the final votes for the Affordable Care Act from pro-life Democrats with the promise that federal funds would not be used to pay for abortions.

  • At Live Action News, Calvin Freiburger warns abortion advocates not to party too much over RH Reality Check’s (I’m sure totally nonbiased) analysis claiming abortion is completely safe and already extremely regulated, so pro-life legislation is a waste of time:

… A-OKs from state agencies don’t automatically settle the issue. No pro-lifer denies that the average abortionist has basic common sense about avoiding punishment and lawsuits, getting paid, or ensuring repeat customers. The bigger issue is that when abortionists do skirt the rules, liberal government officials and abortion movement leaders can’t be trusted to hold them accountable.

The least-acknowledged detail of the Kermit Gosnell case, after all, is that both the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the National Abortion Federation deliberately ignored Gosnell since the early 1990s. Indeed, when faced with those supposedly-nonexistent born-alive abortions, the current occupant of the White House decided nothing should be done about them.

Liberals fear changing filibuster rules would hurt abortion “rights”

filibuster

As Democrats consider whether to use the so-called nuclear option to rewrite the Senate’s filibuster rules, one issue in particular has some liberals worried: abortion.

Changing the rules to make it easier to confirm President Barack Obama’s executive branch or judicial appointments may help the White House in the short term…. But privately, that base and abortion rights supporters are concerned how a future GOP president and Senate could take advantage of the new setup.

Stanek weekend question: How do pro-choicers celebrate Mother’s Day?

2013-05-11_1939

I’ll answer that: with tasteless and tactless audacity, from the top down.

As the Weekly Standard noted, “The White House is marking Mother’s Day… by celebrating free birth control provided by Obamacare“….

Obama bails on Planned Parenthood gala

ap489865548864_s640x451UPDATE 4/26, 11:00p: So much for not wanting to be filmed. Obama’s speech to Planned Parenthood will be live streamed this morning, to begin at 11:20a, here.

We also now know the Planned Parenthood event is being held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., according to The Christian Post.

4/24, 4:21p In a perfect pro-abortion world, the White House would proudly boast of President Obama’s plans to keynote a Planned Parenthood Federation of America event.

Obama can’t comment against Gosnell, because Obama stands with him

Opposed companion bill to Born Alive as state senator that sought to protect abortion survivors from the Gosnells of the world

Although President Obama had no trouble commenting on the ongoing Trayvon Martin case, White House spokesperson Jay Carney said today Obama wouldn’t be commenting on the Kermit Gosnell mass murder case because he “cannot take a position on an ongoing trial” or “comment further on an ongoing legal proceeding”…
