Stone’s “karma” crack reaps her bad karma
I posted a YouTube video this week of actress Sharon Stone blaming karma for the devastating Chinese earthquake.
The Chinese, communists that they are, are taking a more heavy-handed approach than Americans when dealing with Hollywood liberals, banning Stone’s movies altogether rather than boycotting them. But it’s interesting to see retaliation for Tinsel Town’s left-wing garbage spread across the globe. From the Associated Press, May 28…
Los Angeles – Sharon Stone’s “karma” comment is having an instant effect on her movie-star status in China.
The 50-year-old actress suggested last week that the devastating May 12 earthquake in China could have been the result of bad karma over the government’s treatment of Tibet. That prompted the founder of one of China’s biggest cinema chains to say his company would not show her films in his theaters….
“I’m not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else,” Stone said Thursday during a Cannes Film Festival red-carpet interview with Hong Kong’s Cable Entertainment News. “And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”
Ng See-Yuen, founder of the UME Cineplex chain and the chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers, called Stone’s comments “inappropriate,” adding that actors should not bring personal politics to comments about a natural disaster that has left five million Chinese homeless….
UME has branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Guangzhou, China’s biggest urban movie markets.
During the brief interview, which has also surfaced on YouTube, Stone also said she cried when she received a letter from the Tibetan Foundation asking her to help quake victims.
“They wanted to go and be helpful, and that made me cry,” she said. “It was a big lesson to me that sometimes you have to learn to put your head down and be of service even to people who aren’t nice to you.”
Stone’s words created a swell of anger on the Internet, including at least one Chinese Web site devoted solely to disparaging her comments….
Stone has at least four movies coming up between now and 2010, including Streets of Blood, Five Dollars a Day and The Year of Getting to Know Us.

I don’t think most of the people in the towns and schools devastated by the earthquake were responsible for the crackdown in Tibet. But her intentions and willingness to speak against the crackdown on monks in Tibet is admirable, and since when are Hollywood seductresses supposed to be bright.
“I’m not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else,” she says as she proceeds to say some extremely unkind words.
The difference between saying that God is disciplining people and Karma is at play, is that when God disciplines, he does it out of love, and we are saddened by the consequences of sin. We take no pleasure in others pain, just as I take no pleasure in my childrens tears when I discipline them.
Karma on the other hand is about taking pleasure in people “getting what they deserve”. No lessons are learned. No redemption. No ability to make what’s wrong right. No forgiveness.
When God chastises His people it is out of Mercy.
Karma is Justice without Mercy.
Here is the problem I have with Sharon Stone. She is pro-abortion. That’s what I call being unkind to other people. Supporting and advocating the murder of innocent children.
China is having a heck of a time right now. Between natural disasters, the upcoming Olympics, terrorism, Tibet, and rising energy prices, the leaders are feeling a lot of pressure.
Few Americans like high energy prices, but the effect is magnified in China, where the economy is rapidly expanding and manufacturing-based. The US economy isn’t strong, and the Chinese are loathe to raise prices, yet their costs are going up fast. Lesser exports would mean higher unemployment, and with all the other stuff, that is one more problem the bosses really fear – a populace even more bummed-out than they already are. A bunch of businesses going belly-up would just worsen things.
The government has set a ceiling for the price of gasoline, and this puts the Chinese oil companies in the predicament of not being allowed to sell for a normal profit, perhaps not even above the price of production. Several of them have refused to sell at the artifically low prices, causing shortages at a time when China’s overall energy use is going up fast. For now, the gov’t can probably subsidize oil prices, for the sake of preventing revolt by the populace, but combine the cost of the subsidies with shrinking profits from exports (foreign nations won’t support higher prices for now, and the Chinese economy MUST export) and they’re in a fix.
I have a funny feeling if she’d said it was karma because of their abortion policy, you’d be ALL for it.
Let’s be honest, this isn’t about the concept of “karma” (Heather herself used the same term and concept in the first post about this) – and some of you, JLM and Heather included, went on to say that they feel that natural disasters ARE indeed punishment for sins. Which is exactly what Sharon Stone said. The issue here is that you disagree on which sin (abortion policy vs Tibet policy) it was they were being punished for.
And just out of curiousity, do you not have any problems with the Chinese occupation of Tibet?
I disagree vehemently with all of it – occupation, coerced abortion, AND that the disaster was some form of punishment… but thats besides the point.
The Dali Lama isn’t exactly a perfect character. While its great she’s friends with him, has she used that friendship to any benefit other than name dropping? The Buddhist caste system in Tibet was a source of oppression for much of the population, with the Dali Lama living a carefree lifestyle (much as Gyatso lives now, as he enjoys worldwide acclaim and celebrity accomodations). For Tibet to be free, not only would China have to leave, but there could be no return to the theocratic fuedalism that existed under the rule of the Dali Lamas.
Amanda, I said that there was no way that you could disprove it.
You should visit the blog of Perez Hilton. That guy had a lot of posts where people actually DID say that China was getting their Karma for what they do to their children there. I believe they even drown baby girls. Also, remember the abortion artist Alayna Shavatz? That guys blog got more PRO LIFE hits. I couldn’t believe it!! They aren’t too polite over there either. I think Perez is a tad pro life.
Never said I agreed with it. Just said that you can’t disprove it.
I think that if someone said the things about Karma and abortion on Jill’s blog, some of the pro choicers would “freak” on us “judgemental Christians.” Now, Perez Hilton is gay, so I guess I just figured there would be more Pro choice hits. WRONG!! Perez calls Shavetz “The Abortion Girl” LMAO! If Jill were to say the same thing, some of you would blow a gear!
Perez Hilton is no more ridiculous than Jill.
And Jill has said much worse things than call someone “The Abortion Girl.”
Well, I find Perez an absolute riot at times. You should have seen those comments. Jill would have had to delete them and pro-choicers would have been outraged.
My point was this….you would THINK that a blog that attracts a lot of homosexuals might sway to the PC side. I figured I’d be standing alone, but much to my surprise, I was a far cry from it!!! Seems that nobody had any tolerance for Miss Shavatz or her actions.
And Jill has said much worse things than call someone “The Abortion Girl.”

Heather,
Well, lots of feminists were outraged by Shravets at first, but then they thought about it logically and realized there was no way she was ever pregnant. They dropped the issue as a hoax and moved on with their lives. Pro-lifers are the only ones who created a big stir about it, which I think goes back to a misunderstanding of human biology…
Besides, why should homosexuals CARE about being PC or PL?! They don’t have to worry about it!
What has Jill ever caled you?
oops *meant called you* and why were feminists outraged over a blob of tissue? Why would there be cause for outrage?
It’s like judging the woman who has had 1 abortion. Some might judge her differently than we would judge the woman who has had 19 abortions. I have seen people gasp in horror over 1 woman who had 13 of them.[[some TV show]] What would the difference be?
I was watching The View on Wednesday or Thursday when they brought up this topic. Sherry Shepard goes: “That’s what happens when you go to the party BEFORE the red carpet.” Lol, it’s so true, I think she was drunk, I mean, she had to be, she just sounds so stupid and kind of incoherent in that video. I don’t know how she is normally but it sounded like she left her brain in the limo with this one.
Elizabeth,
Didn’t Sharon Stone barely survive a brain aneurysm a few years back? Perhaps portions of her brain were taken with the trauma rather than left in the limo. People often mistake people with brain injuries for being drunk.
She was in ‘Total Recall’ with Arnie and another super-cutie, Rachel Ticotin.
Chinese earthquake aftershocks
Read my previous post on this tragedy here and here. According to the Associated Press, today: Chinese police on Wednesday blocked access to several schools that collapsed in last month’s massive earthquake, a day after a group of parents protested…
