  • Wesley J. Smith has been writing about the animal rights movement – which sets itself up as anti-human – for quite some time. Now, he says, the UK Green Party “has joined the war on humans”:

The Party’s election platform calls for expanding the UN’s Declaration on Human Rights to all sentient life forms. From the Telegraph story: Article Five of the UN Declaration on Human Rights, banning “inhuman” treatment, is extended to all sentient life forms.

The same prison sentences for the murder and kidnap of humans will apply to crimes involving elephants, monkeys and whales.

Kwanzaa’s political roots

by Carder While taking the “best of early Chinese and Cuban socialism” — excluding, one hopes, mass murder, forced abortions, imprisonment of homosexuals and forced labor — Karenga said Kawaida practitioners believe one’s racial identity “determines life conditions, life chances and self-understanding.” There’s an inclusive philosophy for you! ~ Conservative pundit Ann Coulter exposing the […]

China: Woman tries to sell daughter to help hospitalized husband

by Carder Please buy my daughter. My husband is waiting for surgery fees in the hospital as his boss ran away. I would like to see my daughter and save my husband. Boss fled after industrial accident and we don’t have the money for treatment. I’m willing to sell my child to save her father. […]

Killing puppies “horrific,” killing late-term babies “heroic”

JODI-HEADSHOT-8-19-11-_100Jodi Jacobson is editor-in-chief of RH Reality Check, a pro-abortion website dedicated “to safeguard…  sexual and reproductive health and rights against false attacks and misinformation.”

Jacobson has stated it is “profoundly disrespectful” to oppose late-term abortions, which she defines as “at or after 24 weeks or in the third trimester.”

Jacobson has described those who kill babies in the third trimester as “committed, ethical, moral medical professional[s].” She said pro-lifers were “lunatics” to call late-term abortionist George Tiller a “mass murderer” – himself a subsequent victim of murder. Rather, Jacobson maintained, Tiller was a “heroic, kind, compassionate, professional.”

  • Wesley J. Smith adeptly points out that a “die-and-get-out-of-the-way” rationing campaign has already begun in the U.S.

Liberal New York Times writer Bill Keller recently demeaned popular blogger Linda Bonchek Adams and her fight against cancer. Keller’s advice? Stop trying to give “false hope” to people and enter hospice already. Smith says everyone should be appalled by this attitude:

Here is what I believe is going on behind the curtains: There is a great effort underway at the highest level of the ruling and intellectual classes to devalue the struggle to stay alive. Part of it is utilitarian ideology – the idea that society can define a life not worth living. Indeed, we have seen open advocacy in bioethics for a “duty to die.”

  • Mollie Hemingway writes about Planned Parenthood’s abortion theater:

So the question is obvious. If 97% of Planned Parenthood’s services aren’t abortion, why in the world would an abortion regulation cause a dozen Planned Parenthood clinics to close?

Closing clinics make for great headlines and more dramatic court briefs. But a media mildly more skeptical of savvy public relations campaigns and well-scripted legal wrangling might serve the public a bit more.

  • Right to Life of Michigan says abortion advocates like to portray their views as mainstream, but they aren’t – not even among women:

According to the 2013 Gallup poll on abortion, 57% of women believe abortion should be illegal or legal in only a few circumstances, along with 59% of men.

Only 28% of women agree with abortion advocates that abortion should be legal in every circumstance.

  • Pro-Life Action League reports on a huge free speech victory for pro-lifers in Rockford, Illinois, home of the infamously profane (and thankfully, now closed) Northern Illinois Women’s Center:

The settlement comes after more than five years of federal litigation stemming from harassment of pro-life individuals and other federal civil rights violations on the part of some members of the Rockford Police Department.

As part of the terms of the settlement, Rockford police officers will be required to attend a training program on citizens’ First Amendment rights, with the specific aim of preventing wrongful arrest of citizens for taking part in constitutionally-protected activities.
