The logic of the modified pro-choice position reduces to, “I think it’s wrong to kill my own children, but I don’t think we should stop other people from killing theirs.”
Notice that this critique has nothing to do with whether abortion is right or wrong. That’s a different question. I am simply pointing out that the modified pro-choice view deals itself a fatal blow. That is Biden’s blunder, and the blunder of anyone else advancing such a foolish notion….
Both insist that the question of when a human life begins is a theological question, and so one without a generally applicable answer. But in fact, the question of when a new human life begins is not fundamentally a theological question but a biological question…..
Do all human beings share in some minimal equal humanity that entitles us to some minimal equal protections, like the protection from intentional killing, regardless of our age, our size, our capacities, abilities, and circumstances?
That’s not a question that answers itself. But it is the question at the heart of the abortion and embryo research debates, and Senators Obama and Biden are avoiding the question by insisting they lack an answer to the prior question – the question of the beginning of life – which they wrongly assert to be a matter of theology.

This election is shaping up to be more and more about abortion, and not because of Sarah Palin. The messiah himself has gone before Planned Parenthood promising deliverance for pro-aborts under his administration. He has said the first thing he will do is sign a FOCA.
The interesting confluence now is the intersection of increased knowledge of fetal formation versus that of the rock solid political hold that abortion advocates have on the Democratic Party. As trend lines go it is getting harder by the day to continue justifiying the destruction of human life. We know so much more about abortion now than even 35 years ago, when popular myth had it that these “products of conception” were “blobs of tissue.” Because of this abortion advocates have had to become even more bold, as when Joe Biden says it is a child but who am I to tell someone they can’t abort. The general public does not believe this, yet it is the general public that will pull the voting levers.
Jill, I wonder if you saw what Carol Fowler said about Sarah Palin today. She is a democratic chairwoman from SC and she said that Palin’s “primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.” I wonder if the Democrats believe that all women need to have an abortion to be in office now? It was the most ridiculous comment I’ve heard.

She hid her pregnancy from the public until she was about seven months along and didn’t reveal the diagnosis until three days after Trig was born. She didn’t tell her other children the new baby would be different, either, according to the magazine.
“Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs,” she said in the interview with People, “I couldn’t talk about it.”
………………………….
Translation: I knew that my pregnancy was high risk. At any time a theraputic abortion might be necessary. It was easier for me to pretend I wasn’t pregnant than answer for any choices I might need to realistically make in the face of my unrealistic PL position. I waited until an assuring stage of viability and increasing specualtion over my sudden penchant for baggy clothes and long scarves to announce my pregnancy. When I went into premature labor, I still held out hope that I would never have to deal with a child with a disability and prolonged medical attention as long as I possibly could.
But am I not blessed by god? Trig was such a great prop for hiding Bristol’s pregnancy. I’m certain that was the meaning of his birth. I can use him to cover up and gloss over any of my bad behaviors.
Please vote me into the White House and enable me to outsource the raising of my children. I can’t deal with it.

Sally, not everybody thinks in lockstep with you.
Some women keep their pregnancies under wraps for other reasons than wanting to keep the option open of killing Junior. Some do it because if they have a miscarriage they don’t want to have to explain it to people asking how the baby is. (I had a friend who kept a pregnancy while she was being treated for cancer a secret for this reason; only close friends knew.) Others know they will be pressured to abort if certain people know of the pregnancy, so they keep mum until after they start to show.
Your assumption that all mothers value their children as little as abortion advocates do is at best cynical, and at worst slanderous.

Sally,
Are you saying that she would have aborted her own child? She probably was needing to do some soul searching and praying. And she wasn’t going to head to the nearest abortion mill for her answer.
Makes me wonder if Jim Abbott (famous Baseball pitcher) would have been allowed to be born in this day and age (he was born w/o a right hand). With the abortion mentality that any disability or defect is bad (even something as small as a cleft lip, which CAN be corrected with surgery) we need to rethink what we are doing as a society, when we are rejecting those who need us most.
Just stopping in a moment but had to say that Sally’s worldview is plain sad and sour. I’m almost speechless at the totally lack of heart expressed in the post above.
Wow… I will be certain to say an extra prayer.

………………….
Cynical would be wise and slanderous would be uncomfortable truths to your way of thinking. No?
Palin admits to doubts about her pregnancy and what it might bring. What it might cost her. Why do you feel a need to negate her feelings and her experience? What do you gain? Denial?
Sally, you immediately equate ambivilance with desire to kill. Conflicting feelings about how a pregnancy will impact life as she knows it, does not mean that someone is considering abortion. Why do you feel the need to impose your worldview on her ambivilance?
Sally —
Is it just Palin, or are you really angry at women who have made different choices than you. It sounds like you resent the happiness that others have. It’s really sad.
Try again Sally.
The thought of aborting the baby never entered Sarah Palin’s mind. Your inference of that is sick.
However, because she is a thougtful woman, she knew it was going to be difficult pregnancy and probably prayed quite a bit about it and did not want to openly talk about it until she had received some peace from her God.
Can’t you pro-aborts read? Do you have to twist and contort everything including the meaning of words?
LB:
There is no reason to pray for anyone who commits sin unto death. It’s in Hebrews, please look it up.
Wow…Sally is a truly disgusting individual.
I’m not sure how many of you have seen my pics on facebook, but I was born with a mild facial defect, and it wasn’t known what if any impact that it would have on my mental function and development until I had a CAT scan at age 7. I’m VERY glad someone like Sally wasn’t my mother. I’m glad I’m alive, even though it hasn’t always been easy.
Becky @ 9:28,

EXCELLENT!!! WHO IS THIS GUY????
Carla,
The hair-do’s looking good on you! I just cut all my hair off last week so I can’t do the “bun” thingy. (Darn!)
ugh. it was before i was 7. i don’t remember when it was exactly, just that they gave me some gross stuff to drink that looked like orange juice but tasted icky, and put me to sleep so they could do the scan.
The “Palin” looks good on you, Carla. I’m going to clean up and take my pic with it tomorrow. I wonder how it looks with purple hair…

I’m glad people finally are starting to wake up to the way the democRAT party.
And today, we remember an event that they would rather was forgotten, and many in their ranks have.
EXCELLENT!!! WHO IS THIS GUY????
Janet, I watched that video and it was superb! I have subscribed to him! Wow, he does a great job!
Oops, Becky! I didn’t realize you had posted the video first! :D
that’s okay bethany! i cannot tell you guys how many times i have watched that video and gotten chills! he gets me so pumped up i just want to go yelling thru the streets! i especially ove the part about the liberal school systems! that is exactly why we choose catholic schools for our daughters. we might not be able to go on that fancy vacation or get the brand new car but we are would rather go without than to have their sweet innocent minds filled with all that liberal nonsense!
And today, we remember an event that they would rather was forgotten, and many in their ranks have.
Is that really necessary?
yeah, actually, I think it is, and that’s sad.
and that’s sad.
I guess we agree on that.
Whats sad is that selfish little girls like you who only do things because “it feels good” do not understand that PEOPLE DIED. Maybe if you lose someone you love you will get it.
I am sorry if someone you cared about died, Carol. I really am.
I don’t think I’ve shared my opinion on the political response to 9/11 here — all I did was say that I found it unnecessary to act like one political party owns the memory of of it.
But even if I have made my views known, why would it matter if I had lost someone or not?
