In today’s Life Links, Jivin J mentioned the August 15 Newsweek profile on NE late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart.
The pro-abort bent of the piece was obvious from the provocative title, “The abortion evangelist.” I can think of no other reason for such verbiage other than to insult and incite pro-life Christians.
Here was the accompanying video. There were no interview questions, just cutting back and forth between pro-aborts (Carhart, staff, and the clip of a Charlie Gibson newscast of George Tiller’s death) and pro-life activists. Pro-aborts got 3:34 air time; pro-lifers got 1:17…

Some choice quotes from the article…

Leroy Carhart was at his abortion clinic near Omaha when he got the phone call…. Tiller’s nurse was crying. “George is dead,” she told him through sobs….
I didn’t have any time to sit here and feel sorry for myself,” says Carhart. He hung up the phone, went back into the operating room, performed another abortion….

What a strange, narcissistic reaction. Carhart stated later in the piece he and Tiller were good friends, confidants. Feel sorry for myself? That is not a thought I would have had after receiving such a call.

A public-opinion poll in May found 68% of Americans support Roe v. Wade’s comprehensive protection of elective, 1st-trimester abortion.

The lie is so old. Roe v. Wade and the same day’s Supreme Court companion decision, Doe v. Bolton, ei legalized abortion throughout all 9 months of pregnancy by a wide open definition of “health of the mother” as reason to abort at any time. Case in point, later in the article…

At Tiller’s clinic, [Carhart] saw a rape victim in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Every time she felt the baby move, she said, it brought back the rape all over again. She’d made 3 suicide attempts. Carhart performed her abortion. “If a woman is going to kill herself, then I think you have to look at it for her health,” he says.

Hello? There was no reason not to deliver this baby rather than abort. The mother’s pregnancy would have been terminated either way.

Carhart’s staff has taken more precautions since Tiller’s death. They now arrive at the clinic in street clothes, changing into their scrubs inside…

Well this is just gross. Street clothes are supposed to be worn to work. One changes into scrubs in the uncontaminated environment of the surgical suite changing room.
Following is video Newsweek missed. Carhart has begun repairing and painting the exterior of his mill. This video was shot August 14 by pro-lifer Larry Donlan and posted by Operation Rescue today. The filthy-mouthed (yes, warning: terrible language) worker is a self-professed satanist, who knocks down pro-life signs. Interesting aside: The video reveals former Tiller employee Lindsey Alejandro is now working for Carhart and married to the satatnist.
