Jivin J’s Life Links 4-9-10
by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat
“Accidents might involve say 1 or 2 patients, but we are dealing with a cluster of 12 patients. So at this stage there is nothing in the processes and procedures at this clinic that would enable me to explain how it happened,” [Victoria’s chief health officer, Dr. John Carnie] said….
Through her research, [filmmaker Faith Pennick] discovered not only a pervasive hush on black abortions in the public sphere, but, perhaps more surprisingly, within black families and their communities.
This silence, Pennick says, cuts across all class lines. “In my experience, both in researching and making Silent Choices as well as in my personal circles” she says, “middle-class, college-educated black women are just as uncomfortable talking about abortion or acknowledging that they had abortions as poor working-class black women.”…
Another reason for the silence may be a lingering belief that grew out of the 1960s black nationalist movements: that abortion and birth control are tools of whites in power to limit the black population. “Even if people aren’t nationalistic,” says [author Dorothy] Roberts, “there’s a sense that childbearing is a positive thing that contributes to your whole community, and therefore having an abortion violates that.”

“”Even if people aren’t nationalistic,” says [author Dorothy] Roberts, “there’s a sense that childbearing is a positive thing that contributes to your whole community, and therefore having an abortion violates that.”
The most difficult thing people can do is admit that they’ve been had. More than anyone, the African American community has been duped by the Democrat party.
Duped and savaged.
Once that admission is made, it’s all over for the Dems. I suspect they know their day of reckoning is not far off, which is why they are ramming home as much as they can now.
The Democrats can’t survive without the black and hispanic vote. Once the inner city embraces life, Pelosi et al. will be sent packing. Then it will be THEIR turn to experience permanent minority status.
Most people are pretty silent on abortion and that’s something that pro-choicers and pro-lifers can and should agree on. In pro-choice circles, you’re brainwashed if you regret your abortion and want to help others choose life through helping out financially, medically, et cetera. In pro-life circles, women who don’t regret their abortions are just as brainwashed.
I think that if people involved in abortion would step back, they would see what causes the silence: no one likes abortion. Most people in this country are on the fence leaning pro-choice but see abortion as a necessary evil. That’s where the silence comes from.
I hate to mention ethnicity because I don’t want to sound racist or focused on skin color but most people who are pro-choice are also white. You don’t usually hear about women of color in the pro-choice movement- it’s a predominantly white movement. I’m not accusing any pro-choicer of racism- that’s not what I mean, it’s just that in this entire debate, pro-life and pro-choice, Anglos tend to speak louder than people of color, and I’m not sure why. This is true for pro-lifers too: there are many, many African, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, Polynesian, Native American, Romani, et cetera pro-lifers, and I’m sure that the same is true for pro-choicers. I’m not sure why, in America at least, this debate primarily involves Anglos. I don’t have a problem with anyone who is Anglo speaking in this debate- I mean, I’m part Anglo, but I always do wonder where the voices are of people of color regarding this issue. I would like to know all opinions regarding the issue and possible solutions, regardless of background.
Vannah, you should check out the movie Maafa21.
“I hate to mention ethnicity because I don’t want to sound racist or focused on skin color but most people who are pro-choice are also white.”
Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. My guess would be that that’s partly because most Hispanic people are Catholic and partly because a lot of black people, I think, are very big on family unity. In the situations of black families with no father, the remaining members pull closer together. So if someone’s pregnant, it’s another member of the family, not a “choice.”
The Democrats can’t survive without the black and hispanic vote.
And the GOP cannot survive without evangelicals, pentecostals, and the uneducated. Otherwise why would they vote for the GOP unless they were a corporate executives.
Touche.

Wow. No facts. No numbers. Just a woman typing away, munching on cheetos, drinking box wine, or both.
Unbelievable.
I certainly hope Vannah’s not drinking box wine, (she’s underage) though that little comment with the “uneducated” bit mixes nicely with Anne’s trailer park rants on another thread. Must be stifling boxed in by your preconceived notions of everyone who disagrees with you.

Dhalgren?
Is that some sort of scientologic name that means ‘doubling down on dumb and losing money on the instant replay?
“And the GOP cannot survive without evangelicals, pentecostals, and the uneducated.”
In your bigoted misunderstanding of things political you could have saved some keystrokes and just said ‘white trash’.
We would have all know what you meant in your narrow minded view of those who disgree with your relativistic perspective of ‘social justice’.
You are as chauvenistic as any white supremacist who is absolutey shocked that a ‘nigger/chink/cameljock/spic/wop/raghead’ can read and write, much less use a computer.

abortion: safe and legal.
Right!

Dhalgren… you just accused a 16 year old of drinking boxed wine. If you actually READ what was posted here instead of just spouting off, you would KNOW that Vannah is 16. It’s common knowledge because she is a frequent poster.
Here’s a thought… if you disagree with her conclusion, show her why she is wrong. If you can’t, then maybe she isn’t wrong. But the ad hominem attack on a TEENAGER doesn’t make her look bad… it makes you look bad.
Here, Dhalgren, I’ll condense it for you since reading is hard for you:
I noticed that in both camps, pro-life and pro-choice, Anglos tend to speak up the most. I’m not saying that it’s bad that Anglos speak their minds- it’s good. But I wondered why we don’t hear from other ethnicities from either side. I would like to hear from others on this debate.
Please let me know if any of those words were too big for you. I’ll try again.
“Is Hep C a disease that can be transmitted sexually?”
It can be, but it’s more commonly transmitted through the use of contaminated needles.
“Either that or the boorish creep is reusing his/her needles.”
That is a very strong and disturbing possibility.
Here’s some more info for anybody who is interested :)
http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/HCV/HCVfaq.htm#section2
HCV is transmitted primarily through large or repeated percutaneous (i.e., passage through the skin) exposures to infectious blood, such as
* Injection drug use (currently the most common means of HCV transmission in the United States)
* Receipt of donated blood, blood products, and organs (once a common means of transmission but now rare in the United States since blood screening became available in 1992)
* Needlestick injuries in healthcare settings
* Birth to an HCV-infected mother
HCV can also be spread infrequently through
* Sex with an HCV-infected person (an inefficient means of transmission)
* Sharing personal items contaminated with infectious blood, such as razors or toothbrushes (also inefficient vectors of transmission)
* Other healthcare procedures that involve invasive procedures, such as injections (usually recognized in the context of outbreaks)
Yes, Dalghren and you call us prolifers racist, ignorant, hate-mongering homophobes. WOW! You just showed your true colors with that one. You have no idea who is posting here. Get off the blog ignorant one, you are an educated fool.
And the GOP cannot survive without evangelicals, pentecostals, and the uneducated. Otherwise why would they vote for the GOP unless they were a corporate executives.

Hilarious. The religious and college educated are more likely to vote Republican. It is the poor and only folks actually working in academia that vote more for Democrats. As for execs, go look at who actually contributed to Obama. Yup, corporate elite.
Sssshhhh…. (seriously, what is it with people these days, confusing all the poor little libocrats with FACTS???)
When I saw that Doctor LeRoy Carhart getting an award for his services on late term abortions, I really wanted to vomit!! the place were he does them reflex’s the man and his work.
All smiles and thinking that they are helping women, the darkness of his heart and all the workers, I pray that God will open up their hearts to see that they are committing murder.
