- It appears that Indiana may defund Planned Parenthood.
- Wesley Smith on how Planned Parenthood could stop people from objecting to PP receiving tax dollars:
I find it interesting that whenever PP defunding comes up, defenders bemoan the loss of cancer screenings and contraception dispensing for poor women, and materially downplay the importance of abortion in the overall PP menu of services. Well, there is an easy way out of that conundrum – if they are truly the core of PP’s mission: Simply stop performing abortions and many people will stop objecting to its receiving taxpayer dollars.
But as we all know, abortion is the true core of PP’s mission so that’s not happening anytime soon.
- The British High Court has ruled the British government has to release statistics noting how many British unborn children were aborted past 24 weeks and the reasons for the abortions. The government stopped publishing the statistics in 2003 after a report showed a child had been aborted because of cleft palate.
- Live Action reports on “Maria Talks,” a state funded web site for teens in Massachusetts in which abortion is promoted as “safe and effective,” “more common than you think” and easy to get. The site also provides contact information to an organization which can help young girls pay for abortions, to Planned Parenthood to help teens get a judicial waiver instead of parental consent, and a link to NARAL Massachusetts where girls can get a list of abortion providers.
- A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to jail time after beating his girlfriend because she wouldn’t have an abortion:
Roderick Douglas Gaines, 28, of East Vine Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 3 to 6 years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated assault of an unborn child, simple assault and terroristic threats in connection with a July 2010 altercation with his former girlfriend at a Pottstown residence….
Court papers indicate the victim reported that Gaines struck her with a closed fist and told her if she screamed during the incident, he would “give her something to scream about.” Additionally, the victim told police that Gaines said, “she was forcing him to have this baby and she should respect that he wants her to have an abortion. Since she won’t respect his request to have an abortion, he won’t respect her.”
- A federal judge has ruled that a letter sent by Angel Dillard to wanna-be abortionist Mila Means wasn’t a threat:
The Justice Department filed a civil complaint against Angel Dillard, 44, after she sent what it alleges was a threatening letter to Dr. Mila Means. In denying the government’s request for a preliminary injunction that would have prevented Dillard from coming within 250 feet of the doctor, U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten said that while the letter was clearly meant to intimidate Means, it wasn’t a threat.
“Maria Talks” seems like a carbon copy of the Planned Parenthood websites for teens, so why is the MA Dept. of Public Health using government funds for this? Is it targeting Hispanic teens (for abortion, etc..)? The site is not very easy to navigate…

When I started reading the article my first thought was it’s about time there doing something positive for teens. But as usual the pro-deathers have the same opinion of teen-agers that they have of the unborn. And it’s so not right that they continue to usurp parental authority.

You do realize that 3% of the services provided at PP are abortion services right? That is why there isn’t a need to “downplay” abortion. There is not much to say about that particular service considering that it isn’t the main services that women utilize (the main services are contraceptives, STD testing, and cancer screenings). I am not saying that abortion is right. I would NEVER choose to terminate a pregnancy but can understand why someone would. Not everyone believes life begins at conception. Yet, at the same time, it is hard to decide when life begins in the first place. Is it at conception? Is it when the mother feels the fetus moving in her womb? Is it when the brain or heart forms? Is it when the fetus is cognizant? I have no idea how to answer that question. We may never find an answer that everyone agrees on.
I digress…
My point is that it is wrong to say that abortion is the core of PP. I go there to receive pelvic exams and birth control pills annually. My university no longer provides any of those services at an affordable cost (The prices are that of a private OB-GYN). I am only 20 years old. I am not made out of money, you know…
Also, the stories you posted are very sensationalistic. You can find a lot of crazy stories about anti-abortion supporters as well. I just thought it was interesting that you posted these.
That is all.

“Not everyone believes life begins at conception.”
Uh, huh.
And not everyone believes that we really went to the moon.
It doesn’t change the facts.
Ugh, the post-modern “there is no reality because I define my own reality” BS.

No, because it isn’t real.
If a company has 1,000,000 unique customers and 300,000 get abortions, and abortion is the most expensive service they offer, no rational accounting system would call abortion 3%.
Abortion is at least 50% of their business.
