Vote now to defund the UN Population Fund
UPDATE 5/26, 11:09a: You did it!
UPDATE 5/13, 6:50p: When does this poll close? Cantor’s office has told us that since Congress is on recess next week, the poll will remain open at least until May 22. I’ll alert you of any changes.
5/13, 3:52p: How many times have you been forwarded an email to vote on a meaningless opinion poll?
Well, for once, here’s a poll that can really save the lives of preborn children.
This week House Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor launched the 2nd phase of the YouCut program.
You may or may not have heard of YouCut. YouCut allows the public to submit ideas for government programs they believe should be eliminated. Each week 3 of those ideas are posted online and people vote for the one they most want the House to consider.
Whichever program gets the most votes will be sponsored by the YouCut program, and the public will be able to track it’s progress on the website as it moves through the legislative process.
So here’s the news: “Terminate U.S. Contributions to the United Nations Population Fund” has been included as one of the first 3 YouCut options!
Therefore, defunding UNFPA could be considered by the House soon, but only if this option gets the most votes on the YouCut website.
As you likely know, UNFPA is the UN population control agency that is complicit in China’s brutal one-child policy, which is carried out via coercive abortions and involuntary sterilizations.
Go to the YouCut website NOW to vote on Proposal #3, “Terminate U.S. Contributions to the United Nations Population Fund,” and then forward/share/retweet this post to all pro-lifers you know!
If you have friends who are solely fiscal conservatives, tell them that at $400 million, this choice will save taxpayers the most money of any of this week’s 3 options.
If Proposal #3 wins, a side benefit will be letting our congresspersons know the life issue is extremely important to their constituents.

How is this a bad thing? I’m asking very honestly. This does not appear to be a bad thing at all. Helping to slow the population increase via increasing the ability of all Women to prevent pregnancies is a very positive thing. It isn’t abortion, obviously! I am genuinely confused by why anyone feels this is a worthy undertaking.
Have those of you who wish to defund this program ever been to a developing country? I have, and I can tell you that Women’s lives would be greatly improved by increased access to birth control coupled with educational opportunities, of course. Many men and Women in Ghana informed me that they would like any help possible to assist them in preventing pregnancy. Abstinence doesn’t work in situations in which Women make the decision to have sex with a man in exchange for food, and I have been assured that it happens there. Further, I was informed that even with condoms being distributed, many people do not know how to use them and/or they are defective. You can not say that you respect or care about Women, and simultaneously feel that this program should be de-funded.
Again, if you have been to a 3rd world nation, and seen hungry Women and children, I imagine you’d think differently about this issue.

Sexual and reproductive health
Working with a wide range of partners, UNFPA assists governments in delivering sexual and reproductive health care throughout the lifecycle of women. Areas of assistance include:
Family planning
Antenatal, safe delivery and post-natal care
Prevention and appropriate treatment of infertility
Prevention of abortion and management of its consequences
Treatment of reproductive tract infections
Prevention, care and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV
Information, education and counselling, as appropriate, on human sexuality and reproductive health;
Prevention of violence against women, care for survivors of violence and other actions to eliminate traditional harmful practices
Appropriate referrals for further diagnosis and management of the above.

Those men and women and children who are hungry don’t need abortions or condoms or birth control pills. They need medicines and real food. They DO NOT NEED to be sterilized either.

Then help stop this sexual abuse of women for crying in the rain!! If some men control the food and require her to have sex in order to eat and feed children, he is raping her and abusing/starving them all. You are saying that if some women do not have sex, they will die. This is not as you say her making a “decision to have sex” but is severe criminal behavior.
How exactly does throwing condoms at them stop this abuse?? You can not say that you respect or care about women when all you do is want to throw contraceptives at them while allowing the abuse to continue.
My common sense tells me to throw the rapists in jail, give them all 1000 condoms and feed them after they work an 18 hour day manually moving rocks back and forth across the prison yard. They’ll probably all be too tired to rape each other.

Make that a 20 hour work day.

“ Those men and women and children who are hungry don’t need abortions or condoms or birth control pills.”
What part of me saying ‘this isn’t about abortion’ suggested that I was talking about abortion? No really, please help me understand this! What part of what I said suggested that they should be sterilized? They WANT birth control options! OPTIONS. READ: OPTIONS.
Can you imagine having a child you knew you couldn’t feed? Of course you can’t imagine it, or you would be a lot more compassionate in this situation.
I’m passively supporting rape by suggesting that Women should have access to birth control? Ummm, nope! CLEARLY a large part of stopping this cycle is improving the food situation. I mean, are you kidding me? That said, HOW THE HELL does providing the Woman the option not to have a child when she is already unable to care for herself a bad thing? Please explain this to me.
You have taken the situation I presented and turned it into something so over the top, I don’t even recognize it. I am referring to situations in which a Woman sleeps with a man because he is able to provide her with fish- in the case that he is a fisherman- or other nutritious food. Following the encounter the men I’m referring to often leave the Woman. Its certainly NOT rape. Inadvertent prostitution, sure, but NOT RAPE. That said, do you feel the Woman should not have the agency to prevent an unwanted, unplanned pregnancy? That’s ignorance of a degree I can’t even wrap my head around. Pure, unbridled, anti-feminist ignorance. Misogyny, really. Please visit one of these countries, talk to the Women you see struggling.
I want you to understand that these people want better for themselves and their children, and access to birth control is a great way to help increase one’s chances in life. I need to tell you that I was offered a baby. His father and mother both tried to sell him to me. I also spent a great deal of time at a children’s home, and I assure you that some of the babies I saw would honestly have been better off had they not been born. One in particular caused me to sob uncontrollably as I held her tiny body. I imagine she’s no longer alive, but I’ll find out for sure when I return.
On that note, how many abandoned or orphaned children from developing nations have you adopted?

Oy, being smarter than most people is difficult. I just feel so sad that the world is full of such ignorance veiled as religious morality.

inadvertent prostitution?
If her only option is to starve or have sex with someone she does not want to have sex with, it IS most certainly rape.
It does not matter whether the threat behind the rape is, “have sex with me or I will beat you” or “have sex with me or I will kill you” or “have sex with me or I will hurt your mother, child, etc” or “have sex with me or I will burn you house down” or “have sex with me or I will withhold your life-saving medication” or “have sex with me or you and/or your children will starve to death”. These are all threats to the well-being of the woman and if she is to survive she needs to have sex with someone she would not normally have sex with. This is not a choice but rather rape.
On that note, how many abandoned or orphaned children from developing nations have you adopted?
Are you serious? One is not allowed an opinion on this topic unless they have adopted what you believe to be the right number of children from the right area? Talk about ignorance veiled as morality. Take the plank out of your own eye.
