Stanek Sunday funnies 6-12-11
My top 5 favorite political cartoons this week begin with one that turns out to be not so funny, as the New York Post is reporting Congressman Anthony Weiner has “headed off to rehab” amid reports he sent private Twitter messages to a 17-year-old girl. Still, Weiner refuses to resign….
by Henry Payne at Townhall.com…
Moving along, by Chip Bok at Townhall.com…
by Steve Sack at GoComics.com…
by Clay Jones at GoComics.com…
by Tony Auth at GoComics.com…
The second one is the best.
Somebody should give b o a ’Peggy Sue’.
But, based on the implication of this cartoon, he would probably:
1. Think about it for 16 hours,
2. misinterpret the message,
3. shoot at the messenger,
4. miss by a mile,
5. and kill the economy.

Would Obama use an assasination attempt to bolster his poll numbers? Its a fair question. There are alot of unanswered questions about the timing of the Osama killing.
The accusations and insinuations leveled against Bush by the MSM were far worse than this. Case in point…Jill has a poll on the right side here that asks if killing Osama was the right way to go. I can almost heart the howls from the MSM if it was Bush’s call to kill Osama versus just taking him alive. But with Obama they build him up to be the macho man for having done it.

b o, with the assistance of the MSM, is still spiking the ball, pumping his fists, and making another victory lap in the campaign bus with the head of OBL as a hood ornament.
Starting to look like NASCAR event with only one bus in the pack.
Look for the ACORN, PP, ACLU, American Communist Party, CAIR, NARAL, NOW, democrat logos plasted all over the bus. Also take note this not a solar powered bus nor a bus that runs on green diesel or even recycled transfat free cooking oil.

You too are almost comical. Your hate for Obama is so over the top that you lose all credibility.
Is he either the worst or best President ever? No.
McCain-Palin in the white house wouldn’t have made unemployment 4% or the economy run without a deficit. Everyone would be screaming mad with just as many questions and just as many complaints.
In a couple more years, we’ll have Obama or Romney in – and when the happens, the sun will come up the next morning, the birds will continue to sing – and life keeps moving on. The world doesn’t stop spinning because you either like or don’t like who’s in office.

Weiner exchanged tweets with a 17-year-old girl. That means nothing. We don’t know anything about what was in those tweets.

Yet, religious conservative Republican “pro-life” Senator David Vitter remains in office and is a hero to the “pro-life” movement.

Ex-GOP,
Why do you have to equate “strong disagreement with policies” with “hatred” for a person, Obama, for example? You can have the former without the latter, you must know that. How about using the words “can’t stand”?

Gerard,
I’m no expert, but maybe it’s a good thing that Weiner’s escapades have brought the serious problem of sex-addiction to light. The figures that are quoted about the prevalence of porn use on the internet are staggering. I think about 25% of all internet use/”Googles” is for porn sites. (It may be even higher.) Still, we wonder why we have high rates of marital infidelity, divorce, abortion rates; a massive porn industry, sex-trafficking, and legislators who fight tooth and nail to keep abortion legal.

Rachel Maddow Asks Porn Legend Larry Flynt To Compare Vitter/Weiner Scandal
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/rachel-maddow-asks-porn-legend-larry-flynt-to-compare-vitterweiner-scandals/
From the strange saga that is the life of Rep. Anthony Weiner, Rachel Maddow has spent the week trying to make lemonade, using the scandal to remind viewers that there are members of Congress that haven’t resigned for much worse. Paramount among them is Sen. David Vitter, on which Maddow has been focusing for some time. And to elucidate on his actions, who better than sex expert Larry Flynt, author of a book on political sex scandals?
Now, there is an example of ‘scumbag’ symetry of epic proportions.

The democrats have no standards.
An absolute is an anathema to them.
They are completely unreliable.
Words mean only what is expedient for them to mean at the moment.
Weiner is NOT an aberation. He is the poster boy for liberal humanists.
Weiner has become a political liability.
Look for his head to come flying over the wall any moment and his glorious naked body to be thrown under the b o campaign bus and b o will probably try to take credit for ‘cleaning up’ congress now that he knows who’s @ss to kick.
What a complete joke!
If Pelosi and her fellow bohemians calculated Weiner could weather this little dust up without hurting their political prospects they would shout in unison, “So what!” and rub Weiner in the face of the american public.
And warmly embrace the exhibitionist.
The democrats have no shame, because they have not code, except winning.
What does it take to motivate a liberal to become an ‘Ex-democrat’?
How low can they go?
It will take a ‘scumbag’ to measure the depth.

Yea we know Ken…. Hawaii is not part of the United States of America… Arguing with you is just a giant waste of time. If you do not have the ability to read a birth certificate or the long form certificate or the newspaper announcing his birth to his mother in Hawaii then you’re just being racist.
Racism can be the only explanation for your refusal to acknowledge the truth place right before your own eyes… You do not believe him because he is black, if he were white this question would have never came up in the first place let alone racists like you holding on to this lie for over 2 years… even though all the evidence has been placed right in front of the whole country…
Oh wait… maybe Ken is not a racist… maybe the whole state of Hawaii is in on the conspiracy… and the Hawaiian news… and the Democratic Party sent a man back in time to put in fake news paper announcements and birth certificates on file….. or maybe this conspiracy started over 40 years ago just to get a Muslim in the white house because he can’t be a Christian… he is TOO ARFICAN BLACK to be a Christian. Not American black like in the south where they are Baptists but African black where they are all Muslims…. Right Ken?
Seriously all sarcasm aside, anyone who still thinks Obama is not a natural born citizen is a 100% racist. Anyone who ever believed Obama was not a natural born citizen for any other reasons have all conceded due to the huge amount of evidence that he is in fact a natural born citizen of the USA. If the birthers cannot come up with any evidence to offset the documents the Obama admin has put up then the only reason left is racism…

My issue isn’t with the constitution – my issue is with the handful percent of people in this country that hold this belief based not on reason, but based on some evilness – I can’t pin it down. I’ve said it before – if you have an issue, file a lawsuit – everyone that has been presented has been struck down. It’s silly. Just like those who don’t believe 9/11 existed…you need to move on.

I think it is pretty premature and short sighted historically to make such proclamations in year three of a presidency. I mean, look at Reagan’s economic numbers after a couple of years.

Look – George Bush had 8 years to make a super big mess – almost drove us into a new great depression. And now you yell and scream and cry that we can’t get out of it faster. Just remember that the sales guys on your porch trying to sell you the fire insurance are the ones that set the house on fire just a few years ago. If you think they’ve learned from their mistakes – well, I think you may be the sucker.

The birther mess always seem race motivated to me, Ex-GOP. I don’t understand it. Do people honestly think that a mixed race couple in the sixties planted a fake birth announcement in a Hawaiian newspaper just in case their child grew up to be POTUS? And do they really believe that the Democratic party is suicidal enough to deliberately endorse someone who is not a natural born citizen? Say what you want about the Dems, they do want to survive like any other political party.
Ken, my mother wasn’t a US citizen but my father was, I was born in the US. Like Obama, I am a natural born citizen. It is silly to suggest otherwise, and offensive to those of us who are products of mixed race and mixed citizenship parents. We are citizens just like those of you whose families immigrated long ago.

Jack – I don’t think the people mean to be racist with it – and it isn’t something I like to throw around – I think it just screams of desperation and stupidity more than anything.
I am wondering how many long form certificates of the GOP candidates that Ken has seen, or is clamoring to see. Ken - are you holding back support until you get proper okay? Where are you at with those folks?

Ex-GOP, I really don’t see a motivation in a lot of people besides race. I just really doubt that if his father were a white non-citizen that there would have been any trouble at all. But maybe it’s just people finding something to scream about because they really, really hate the guy.
I requested the long form birth certificates of every single person in public office. If they refuse to release them to me it is obvious they have something to hide.

…”yes the only reason I can think of for your continued claims of Obama not being a natural born American is some deep seeded racism”…
I believe that confession is more a reflection on how small minded you are than a serious attempt to address the question.
My wifes best friend is ‘black’ [to use your descriptor], My son’s best friend is ‘black’ and he is like a son to me. My niece is married to a black man. My Aunt is married to a Jamaican who is ‘black’. He says b o is no more impressive than a smooth talking pimp.
My aunt’s son, who is a bit of ‘racist’, but not too much to marry a Guatemalan and adopt a Korean, says his Jamaican stepfather treats his mom better any of the other pasty faced hayseeds to whom she has been married.
Evidence.
The burden of proof is not on me. I am not the one who has made the claim to be ’eligible’ to be president. The facsimiles that b o has proferred as ‘proof’ are not acceptible. I want to see a photo stat of his original long form birth certificate complete with his footprint and I want it authenticated by forensic document experts as in more than two.
This is not difficult and not expensive. All b o has to do is smply make the original long form birth certificate avaiable for examination.
I can get the photo static of my long form birth certificate out of my file cabinet in about two minutes. I can get another copy within four hours.

There is nothing that will convince ken that obama is US born. It just won’t fit with his need to discredit obama.

I will take you at your word. You have given me no reason to believe you are dishonest or a fraud.
You say you are natrual born citizen and if required you could prove it just as quick as I can and my children can.
You and I would not spend over 3 years and millions of dollars to avoid producing the proof.
Do you get it JB?
All the things you assumed about me are wrong.
I am not insulted or offended. I am amused.

Ken, an announcement in a Hawaiian paper at the time of his birth and his certification of live birth are plenty of proof for me. You do realize that there is no way that we would have a sitting POTUS that isn’t a citizen? The Republicans in Congress most likely would have found that out and used it to their advantage. But no, it is simply fringe people that are keeping this tired thing going.
I don’t know where you are getting your “millions of dollars” figure, do you have a reference?
Sorry about making assumptions about your beliefs, but the birther movement strikes me as rooted in racism. The loonies who have accepted the birth certificate he released are now saying that those of us who have a parent who was not a US citizen are not natural born. It’s offensive.

Reality,
You really should not attempt ‘thinking’ without adult supervision. You could hurt yourself or someone else.
‘demoncrat’ is your preferred descriptor, but if you believe it to be more accurate then utilize to your heart’s content.
Weiner is an ‘exhibitionist’ , but that’s OK with you, because as far as you know, his ‘flashing’ broke no law.
In other words, ‘So what!’, is you excuse for Weiner’s perversions.
That is just one more proof that democrats in general, and you in particular, have no standard of behavior.
But the interesting thing is by your very actions you know most of the electorate do have standards of behavior and they do care when they are violated.
Weiner confessed to his lewdness on June 6th. Yesterday a week later b o weighs in and say Weiner should resign.
Why wait a week? [It only took b o hours to weigh in on the Harvard police and declare they behaved ‘stupidly’. Guess I’m not the only one who uses the word.]
Why would b o declare that Weiner should resign if he ‘broke no law’?
Cause it ain’t about the ‘law’. It’s about winning and Weiner is dimming the democrats hopes.
But I would expect nothing less from the ‘dead babies r us’ mob.

JB,
No apology warranted. You have only harmed yourself.
Please connect the dots for me and for yourself.
How does demanding ‘proof’ of what the constitution requires equal ‘racism’?
It is one thing to say I am unreasonable in my demands or I am insincere, but to attribute it to ‘racism’ is irresponsible.
Thats is exactly what liberals say about the ‘tea party’ folks, but they have yet to provide any proof.
When I criticize Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton, algore, John Edwards, Larry Craig, David Vitter, Mark Sandford, ‘The Sperminator’, Anthony Weirner, what latent pathology does that reveal?
‘politcophobia’?

Well, I think it is unreasonable. Obama has provided far more proof of his birth than I would have.
It strikes me as racist, because if Mr Obama Sr were white and from the UK we probably wouldn’t be having this conversation. It seems racist because people will not let it drop. Ever. No matter what. I have never seen anything like it. I hear blatant racism all the time from the birthers where I live. The same people who assume I’m illegal, unless they notice I speak perfect English and have blue eyes. Even if the whole birther thing isn’t racist itself, the movement really attracted a ton of unsavory bigots (not saying you are, but a huge amount of the ones I met are).

“‘demoncrat’ is your preferred descriptor, but if you believe it to be more accurate then utilize to your heart’s content.” – it simply appears to best cover your intrinsic splenetic rejection of all things democratic.
“Weiner is an ‘exhibitionist’ , but that’s OK with you, because as far as you know, his ‘flashing’ broke no law.” – to what extent did he ‘flash’?
“In other words, ‘So what!’, is you excuse for Weiner’s perversions.” – so far, but that could change.
“That is just one more proof that democrats in general, and you in particular, have no standard of behavior.” – so you didn’t catch the part where Republians have also been guilty of salacious behavior in various forms? And I have no standards??? Whose whould I have, yours?
“But the interesting thing is by your very actions you know most of the electorate do have standards of behavior and they do care when they are violated.” – of course they do. But whose do they more closely match? To what extent? In what circumstances? And what do they believe the consequences should be? When? It ain’t black and white like your world.
“Weiner confessed to his lewdness on June 6th. Yesterday a week later b o weighs in and say Weiner should resign.” – yep, because in that intervening week more info has surfaced.
“Why would b o declare that Weiner should resign if he ‘broke no law’?” – is that what obama said?
“But I would expect nothing less from the ‘dead babies r us’ mob.” – yep, keep running around in circles with one eye closed.

JB,
The constitution does not require you to provide proof of anything, unless you are running for a federal office.
Not only has b o been elected to an office that’s requires him to be ‘eligible’, b o has taken an oathe to uphold and defend the constitution. Would it be ‘unreasonable’ or ‘racist’ to demand that he prove he is at least 35 years old and been a resident of the United State for at least 14 years as the constitution requires?
Words mean things. ‘Natural born citizen’ means something.
People are risking their lives to come here and spending lots of money to do it, most in hopes of becoming a ‘naturalized citizen’ and having children who are’ natural born citizens’. The only thing nearly as highly prized as US citizenship is a US passport.
Some people would lie to give their child or their grandchild that ‘gift’. It would not be the first time and it won’t be the last.

When Arnie was at the peak of his political popularity with republicans there was a call to change the constitution so he could run for the presidency.
http://legacy.signonsandiego.com/news/state/20040915-1253-ca-schwarzenegger-president.html
It was reported that “California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher introduced legislation to overturn the Constitutional requirement that permits only persons born in the United States to serve as president. Similar legislation was introduced in the Senate.”
Yet here you are still desperately clinging to ‘obama doesn’t qualify’ when republican leaders themselves say the birther issue is bogus.

JB,
I have never encountered a ‘savory bigot’. Kind of mutually exclusive terms.
You will understand I cannot take your assessment at face value. It is a very subjective observation and you have your own ethnocentric biases.
If the ‘birther movement’ [I quarrel with the idea there is any kind of organized birther movement. If there is I haven’t made it on their mailing list. I have to search for information on the subject.] has attracted a ‘ton of biggots’ then it would almost have to be a ‘racist’ movement.
If that is true then you should have no difficulty in providing some evidence/proof to corroborate your assertion that there are ‘tons of racists’ and that they are reflective of a ‘racist’ movement.
I have encountered some ‘white supremicists’ and ‘white seperatists’ and they are hard to miss.
There are some folks who hide their racism among polite company, but when they are with the good ol boys/girls they let themselves go. And the racists ain’t all white. The ‘black supremicists’ are as offensive as the ‘white’ or ‘brown’.

Real-stupid-ity,
Suggest you phone home. There is probably some un-opened mail that you should read.
When the potus, who is currently the head of the democrat party [disengenuously] claims he would resign in the wake of this scandal, that is a not so subtle hint to democrats and to Weiner that the fat lady is singing nah, nah, nah, nah,… nah, nah, nah, nah,..hey, hey, hey…goodbye. Turn out the light the partys over….
Save yourself some more embarassment and concede: Stick a fork in Tony, this @sse’s Weiner is cooked.
Your other quotes are making the case that republicans acknowledge that the contitution requires ‘natural born citizenship’ to be eliigible to be president.
Rohrbacher’s mis-guided proposal only underscores the point. His proposal is mis-guied because the only way to change the Constitution is to ammend it or to get the Supreme Court to re-interpret it.
Congress could attempt to pass a federal law re-defining ‘natural born citizenship’, since it is not defined in the constitution itself, but I suspect that would end up at the Supreme Court before all was said and done.
Thinking is hard work. Suggest you ease into it. Do some stretching exercises. Would not want you to injure yourself.

Back to the overdoing it bit I see. Short attention span? Forgetful?
“republicans acknowledge that the contitution(sic) requires ‘natural born citizenship’ to be eliigible(sic) to be president.” yes they do. And that’s why obama is still president and the republican leadership says birthers are ‘off beam’.
“His proposal is mis-guied(sic) because the only way to change the Constitution is to ammend(sic) it” – ‘congressman introduced a constitutional amendment’
“Thinking is hard work” – it can be on occasion. Functioning beyond a simple black and white realm is like that. But if I want to give up and make no effort I can always vote republican :-)
