- Wesley J. Smith discusses the resignation of Donald Berwick as the head of Medicare. Appointed during a recess by Obama, Berwick never even had confirmation hearings by Democrats because, as Smith notes:
Obama and the Democrats didn’t want Berwick answering questions at a Senate confirmation hearing because he has supported health care rationing in general, and NICE and the NHS’s rationing system in specific.
That would have proved very embarrassing at a time when the the country was opposed to the then newly passed Obamacare, the 2010 elections were approaching, and some voters worried that the law could lead to “death panels.” So, rather than permit democratic processes to play out, the president acted cynically to avoid transparency.
- Timmerie’s Blog showcases a speech given during the International ProLife Youth Conference by Timothy Herrmann of C-FAM, on being a voice for life in the global community.
- ProWomanProLife has the story of a Melbourne couple who decided to abort a twin with a serious heart condition, only to find that doctors killed the wrong baby. The unhealthy twin was later delivered by emergency C-section and did not survive. It is possible that there is more to this story, as the details of the C-section resemble those of a live birth abortion, as a Huffington Post item on the story states the a three-hour emergency caesarean was necessary to deliver the sick fetus, where it was later terminated. So this would be a live birth abortion. The couple is considering legal action.
- Pro-Life Wisconsin discusses WI’snewly introduced personhood bill:Assembly Joint Resolution 77, introduced on Thursday, amends the state constitution to strike the word “born” from the line of the constitution declaring that “All people are born equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights; among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The measure also adds the line, “As applied to the right to life, the terms ‘people’ and ‘person’ shall apply to every human being at any stage of development.”

- Pro-Life Action League gets media coverage of their protest of Catholic abortion proponent, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, who recently presented a “Pro-Choice Leadership Award” to a rape victim. Catholic bishops will meet with Quinn to discuss “abortion and… Quinn’s signing of a law barring discrimination against gay couples who want to adopt,” which affects Catholic Charities’ adoption program.

Australia: Further reports confirm unhealthy baby delivered and then “terminated”
Further reports out of Australia confirm that the late term abortion was meant to kill one baby (the one diagnosed with “serious” heart defects). The doctors advised this because they said the baby would face many surgeries and issues. The parents agreed to the late term abortion but the hospital, identified as the Australia’s largest specialist woman’s hospital, aborted the wrong one….killing the healthy one. So they immediately perform an “emergency” c section to remove the twin boy identified with the heart defect and “had to terminate” him.
No they did not have to do this….they choose to do this. She could have carried her remaining offspring to full term and given birth and given him needed care. But apparently the parents or medical personnel did not think having a baby with a defect was worthy of life. His life may have been shortened by the defect or not but we will never know because he was delivered and killed. Notice all the euphemisms given to the way they described the event.
I note in the interview that a woman who sounds like the Gloria Aldred of Australia is saying that she hope the couple will contact her so she can help them….as in sue for lots of $$. So how much will two lives get the couple??
No, after carrying her twin boys for 32 weeks, she killed them. She, along with her husband and the doctors who advised this and carried this out will have to live with that. Note all the sympathy for the woman and her family….and I might add for the two boys who were given a lethal injection to kill them.

Berwick may be gone, but what systems did he set in place during his tenure?

So this Aussie couple end up with 2 dead babies instead of letting both live and letting things run their course. WOW! So it is better to take the chance of not having 2 living babies than having 1 “defective” baby? WOW!

This is heartbreaking, but I can’t feel any sympathy for the parents. They had their children murdered! And how is infanticide now legal in Australia?!
