Election Eve: Obama stadium half-empty; deputy manager, “Don’t panic”
Via Breitbart.com, November 5:
President Obama’s big rally tonight turned out to be just like his first, opening salvo of the 2012 campaign: a half-empty arena in Ohio. According to RealClearPolitics’ Scott Conroy, there were “empty seats scattered around the upper-level of Nationwide Arena… Four years ago, after all, Obama was easily filling venues larger than that …” The event even featured Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z, and Obama still couldn’t fill it out.
As it turns out, the empty seats didn’t look exactly “scattered.” They looked like substantial portions of the upper bowl of the arena….
Meanwhile, the Obama campaign yesterday prepared its people for bad news today. They’re counting on early voting making up the difference. From Observer.com:
In a conference call this afternoon, President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign had one central message for their supporters when Election Day arrives tomorrow: They should “keep calm,” even if they hear snippets of information favoring Republican Mitt Romney.
“My warning, we need to stay calm for much of the day,” Stephanie Cutter, Mr. Obama’s deputy campaign manager, said, touting thousands of early ballots already submitted by voters. “We’ve already banked a pretty big portion of our vote.”
The fear, she explained, was early numbers leaking before voters have finished going to the polls, creating unnecessary panic and pessimism among Democrats.
“Keep calm and tweet on,” Ms. Cutter said. “So, no matter what you hear tomorrow about turnout in Republican counties or exit polls, particularly early in the day, please remember and remind your readers that, because of early votes, we’re where we need to be to win…. I don’t think there’s going to be official exits until the end of the day, but if things leak out that aren’t validated or weighted, please stay calm.”
It seems to me they know something.

Get packing your bags, Barry.
I truly believe that not only Obama is feeling desperate but his party is desperate. I pray that his attempts at divisivness doesn’t’ work.God is stronger than him and we pray that it is God’s will that he is stopped before it goes too far.
I have started to wonder about how the fact that Obama’s parents are not living impacts our view of him. If his mother and father were still alive, I can’t imagine he could refuse to receive them. I also wonder what they would say and how it would reflect on him. Bush’s parents, some might say, actually helped his image. His mother was pleasant and dignified. His father somewhat bland and hardly polarizing. What about Obama’s mother? Would she have gone out campaigning? or give interviews? Gone on The View? His father? What kind of associations and associates would he have that would be, uh, different from the parents of other presidents?
I know you guys want a pro-life candidate, but the economy, foreign policy, health care and judicial appointments are all so important we need Obama another four years.
I wonder if most Americans will soon consider this the trendy, passing fad presidency. Sure seems that way lately. No matter how many trendies stump for him, Obama is not poised to do well.
Bottom line- he didn’t make good on his promises and folks aren’t flocking to him anymore.
When all you believe in is politics, your moral compass can hit the proverbial fan quickly. The Democrats promoted hatred and division, now they realize that many of their supporters actually believed what they promoted. Here comes the uncivility.
HAHA Good one HAL, Wait you’re not kidding? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Mmm… I’ve never heard a Republican or Independent or Libertarian candidates’ reps have to tell their constituents to ‘stay calm.’ Those thousands of forwarded tweets about rioting must have hit a nerve. I heard the FBI finally had to take them seriously because of the high volume.
My Christmas gift would be seeing the Pods crates parked outside the White House!!!!! Fill ’em up, head ’em up, and move ’em out!!!!

Back in 2008, someone said we should all vote democrat so they can destroy it all and people will wake up.
Really you could same for both parties. If either party controlled 90% of the seats, then it would be hard to blame the other party.
It appears to me that both parties are in bed with big business vs. us. Maybe not the same big businesses but still. When the Democrats wrote the health care bill, the first folks in line for $$ were the insurance companies, aka big business. When the Republicans were in power it was prescription drug benefits which undoubtedly benefitted big pharma. Poor people can’t afford to pay full price for those drugs, so they had the taxpayer pay it.
Large majorities reveal whom the parties truly serve.
Yeah Hal, Obama is great on foreign policy. 4 out of 5 ambassadors agree.
A smaller venue might suffice Mr. President. You know. More intimate.
Hal,
Those issues are very important!!! Which is why I voted for Romney!!
Hi Carla.
Just an “aside”:

Loving this day.
“Loving this day.”
Me too. Four more years!
here’s hoping we end up loving it the most.
Benghazi Hal, Benghazi.
Not only does Obama not protect the innocent pre-born, but he doesn’t even protect his own selected diplomats. What makes you think you even matter to him once you cast your vote? Denial is not a river in Egypt Hal.
I’m not sure how much I matter to Obama. But he matters to me. He’s doing the things I want done, and doing them with competence and integrity. Romney, on the other hand, would try to do things I don’t want done. And makes up stuff about what he could do. He also believes in magic to cure the economy.
“…but my own view is, if we win on November 6th there will be a great deal of optimism about the future of this country. We’ll see capital come back, and we’ll see—without actually doing anything—we’ll actually get a boost in the economy. If the president gets reelected, I don’t know what will happen.”
The panic is not in the Obama camp. Looking at Florida, Ohio, etc., and the early voting returns, it’s Rooney’s side that is feeling the heat.
In the future, Republicans are going to have a tougher and tougher time of it. The country is becoming less “lily white” and less religious, less an “old boys club,” as the population growth overall comes from minorities.
And yeah, I know it’s “Romney,” but I heard a lady talking fast in the grocery store this morning, and it came out “Mutt Rooney,” which I had to laugh at.
Hi Hal.
Score another one for the government workers and the unions and the dead-babies-r-us crowd. I won’t give up the fight for the unborn. I guess we have to cling to our Bibles. A lady got turned away from a polling place for electioneering cause she had “Vote the Bible” on her shirt. But polling places in Democratic counties are pasted with Obama posters and they throw the Republican poll watchers out of the polling places. Unions and Democratic “grass-roots” get out the vote efforts are registering fraudulent votes. The country is on a downward spiral. I hope the House stops funding our government period instead of raising the debt ceiling when it comes up again. IMO it would be better then another four years of running our country without a budget. America as a nation had a chance to elect real leadership and instead we ‘re-elected’ the most incompetent person ever to be president. Hold on tight.
Yes….woohoo!
