Newsweek profiles lauds late-term abortionist Carhart, “The abortion evangelist”
In today’s Life Links, Jivin J mentioned the August 15 Newsweek profile on NE late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart.
The pro-abort bent of the piece was obvious from the provocative title, “The abortion evangelist.” I can think of no other reason for such verbiage other than to insult and incite pro-life Christians.
Here was the accompanying video. There were no interview questions, just cutting back and forth between pro-aborts (Carhart, staff, and the clip of a Charlie Gibson newscast of George Tiller’s death) and pro-life activists. Pro-aborts got 3:34 air time; pro-lifers got 1:17…
Some choice quotes from the article…
Leroy Carhart was at his abortion clinic near Omaha when he got the phone call…. Tiller’s nurse was crying. “George is dead,” she told him through sobs….
“I didn’t have any time to sit here and feel sorry for myself,” says Carhart. He hung up the phone, went back into the operating room, performed another abortion….
What a strange, narcissistic reaction. Carhart stated later in the piece he and Tiller were good friends, confidants. Feel sorry for myself? That is not a thought I would have had after receiving such a call.
A public-opinion poll in May found 68% of Americans support Roe v. Wade’s comprehensive protection of elective, 1st-trimester abortion.
The lie is so old. Roe v. Wade and the same day’s Supreme Court companion decision, Doe v. Bolton, ei legalized abortion throughout all 9 months of pregnancy by a wide open definition of “health of the mother” as reason to abort at any time. Case in point, later in the article…
At Tiller’s clinic, [Carhart] saw a rape victim in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Every time she felt the baby move, she said, it brought back the rape all over again. She’d made 3 suicide attempts. Carhart performed her abortion. “If a woman is going to kill herself, then I think you have to look at it for her health,” he says.
Hello? There was no reason not to deliver this baby rather than abort. The mother’s pregnancy would have been terminated either way.
Carhart’s staff has taken more precautions since Tiller’s death. They now arrive at the clinic in street clothes, changing into their scrubs inside…
Well this is just gross. Street clothes are supposed to be worn to work. One changes into scrubs in the uncontaminated environment of the surgical suite changing room.
Following is video Newsweek missed. Carhart has begun repairing and painting the exterior of his mill. This video was shot August 14 by pro-lifer Larry Donlan and posted by Operation Rescue today. The filthy-mouthed (yes, warning: terrible language) worker is a self-professed satanist, who knocks down pro-life signs. Interesting aside: The video reveals former Tiller employee Lindsey Alejandro is now working for Carhart and married to the satatnist.

Those videos are so disturbingly evil. We need to pray for all involved in this evil business and for the safety of the brave sidewalk counselors. That last one gave me chills.
Hi Jill,
That reaction struck me as narcissistic as well, not to mention sociopathic. Someone kills your friend and your first and only response is not to feel sorry for yourself? How about some compassion or concern for your murdered friend? Oh, and back to business as usual.
Exactly the response one would expect from a sociopath.
Also, the rape victim, (do we know for certain she was?) attempted suicide 3 times??? Exactly how did she attempt suicide? Are there medical records verifying this? Is she mentally ill and does she have a history of self destructive behavior?
Did she seek medical attention for her “suicide attempts” and if she did, why wasn’t she hospitalized on a psychiatric unit, given desperately needed counselling, and put in touch with a rape crisis counselor? Did she ever seek out any kind of help? There are rape crisis centers this woman could have contacted.
Every time the baby moved it brought back memories of the rape? The baby must have moved continuously since about the 4th month. Why did she wait for the third trimester to abort?
Also, will abortion erase the memory of the rape?
Too much about this account doesn’t ring true.
Newsweek magazine is leftist propaganda, they had Obama on the cover like 18 times.
The pro-lifer in video played it exactly right, dealing with the satanist punk.
For those of us who still have some moral fiber, the third rail of health care reform is the
inclusion/exclusion of abortion services along with a “conscience clause” for health care providers.
For those without any moral compunction on this issue , this is just a pebble in the road in front of Obama and the Dem’s 16 wheeler
political machine.
I wish that all of this ridiculous back and forth about birth control this and abortion that would stop. We’re not talking about things; we’re talking about people. Why can’t we stop treating women as though they only have one option, as though the moment that fear overtakes you is the moment that life is over? We can help each other be brave, we can teach one another to respect all of us- we’re not any different from each other.
And I really do believe that pro-choicers are only petrified by this thought because they can’t work out what will happen to they themselves, what will happen in the end, and where they’ll get their glory from which, let’s face it, all people want to know. And if they can’t comprehend what will happen, they won’t like it at all. But I think that they’ll understand someday soon.
Have hope, People! :)
Mary, I did think of that, too. The baby’s movement tormented his or her mother about her abortion – for almost 9 months before she took action?
The last comment made by the woman in the Newsweek video aggravated me, as usual – if you really feel so strongly that women should have abortion, why not call it abortion? Why keep masking it behind words like “medical care” for “things they need”? If you’re really proud of what you do, and think there’s nothing wrong with it, there should be none of this euphemism talk- just say what you support!
“Why can’t we stop treating women as though they only have one option, as though the moment that fear overtakes you is the moment that life is over? We can help each other be brave, we can teach one another to respect all of us- we’re not any different from each other.”
I agree, Vannah. The radical “feminist” movement taught women that they should be independent and self-sufficient. Pride over humility, strength over “weakness”. The only way for a pregnant feminist to save face, and continue their independent ways is to get rid of the “problem” through abortion. Having a baby requires one to change their selfish ways.
“The filthy-mouthed (yes, warning: terrible language) worker is a self-professed satanist, who knocks down pro-life signs. Interesting aside: The video reveals former Tiller employee Lindsey Alejandro is now working for Carhart and married to the satatnist.”
Satanists are involved with abortion. That explains a lot. How many self-professed pro-choicers know this?
Lord Jesus, have mercy on our souls.
I doubt that most pro-abortionists realize the nature of the spirit that contols abortion in this world.
If they did, I am sure that the majority would become pro-life.
Father forgive them for they know not what they do.
Ugh…Carhart looks like such a slug!!! He gives me the creeps. No way would I let him perform any surgery on me. I wouldn’t let him pierce my ears!
That building is such a DUMP. Why would any woman in her right mind go there for surgery? Do women care so little for their own health that they would submit themselves to surgery in such a rundown shack? I wouldn’t drop my car off to be worked on there let alone entrust my body to such a place.
The place looks disgusting and the sidewalk counselor pointed out that Dr. Carhart does not have hospital privileges. Kudos to the sidewalk counselors. Newsweek is often called weak news.
