Mother gives back adopted son

Connerby Carder

I was bleeding heavily, sitting on the rug, crying. My two little ones were hiding behind a chair, crying. And it hit me: This is a domestic violence situation; if their dad had done this, I would take our children somewhere safe.

Forget love. Right then, I didn’t even like J. In his short little life, he’d had a ton of loss. But it was clear to me that I was pushing him away to keep the smaller children safe. I couldn’t handle the idea of them being hurt. I could see that always putting the other kids’ safety above meeting J’s needs was creating a barrier between us.

It was a painful situation.

~ Adoptive mother Stacey Conner, describing the difficulty of dealing with a violent adoptive child and making the decision to place him back up for adoption, via Yahoo Shine, March 20, which adds the end of the story:

Eight months after the Conners had brought J and their daughter from Haiti to Spokane, his new parents arrived in town. Conner’s therapist warned her that J likely wouldn’t weep or protest when he left. Indeed, he just walked away (and by all accounts is thriving with his new family).

Thanks to abortion advocates for all the coathanger psa’s

imageBack in January 2010 I reported that the DC Abortion Fund had given the “gorgeous and touching” coat hanger pendant as a holiday fundraising gift. And it’s so très chic, constructed of “handmade sterling silver,” no less.

Two days ago, National Review Online noticed DCAF is again hawking the coat hanger bauble, and this time Drudge picked up the story, drawing the abortion funder lots of scorn.

An editor at U.S. News & World Report called DCAF’s give-away a “misguided parody” that “makes you wonder what goes on in the minds of people who think a trinket like that is a good idea as it lampoons the horrors of back alley abortions and makes light of the imagery the supporters of legal abortion used for decades to get their point across.”

I, on the other hand, want to thank DCAF and the pro-abortion community for their decades long “anti-coathanger abortion” public service announcements. They pretty much ensure no one will be so senseless as to try to kill her baby that way once abortion again becomes illegal, since the psa’s make it clear she might take herself out in the process.

Indeed, I think evidence points to the fact that the coathanger-abortion psa’s are having a positive impact in almost-post-abortion America. If, when abortions become difficult to obtain, we will return to the coathanger-abortion days, as abortion proponents threaten, you’d think we’d already be seeing them in any of the five six five states – Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming – that are now down to one abortion provider. But no.

Or how about in Texas, where a “400-mile stretch between Houston and the Louisiana border,” in the “vast, impoverished Rio Grande Valley,” quoting CBS News, is now without an abortion clinic?

Indeed, if abortion access is indeed now “in a full-blown crisis,” as claimed at Salon the other day, shouldn’t we be seeing that crisis played out in coathanger abortions?

But we have abortion advocates constantly warning against them, from old…

Actually, abortion proponents know the truth. The just don’t want others to learn their coathanger abortion threat is a lie. So they just keep telling it louder.

All their other arguments are failing.

  • A Lutheran charity has purchased the former Delaware abortion clinic where Kermit Gosnell worked part-time.
  • In Arizona, all health clinics are inspected without warning – that is, except for abortion clinics, which get a 10-day warning:

Inspectors work through observations, interviews and reviews of documents, like patient files and policies. They’re checking, for instance, to see if a clinic has a disaster plan or if employee experience matches up with job duties. If it passes, the facility gets a stamp of approval for up to 24 months.

“All of the surveys are unannounced,” Belden said.

But there’s one big exception. Abortion providers get a 10-day heads up.

  • “Pregnancies they can carry” is the latest jargon Jessica Valenti is using to attempt to ignore the unborn child:

Anti-choicers cannot escape the truth of their movement: despite
rhetorical efforts to the contrary, the foundation of fighting against abortion accessibility is the idea that women are less important than the pregnancies they can carry.

This is why the pro-choice side is losing. They can’t accurately describe the pro-life position. Therefore, they can’t make solid arguments against it. They’re stuck trying to come up with lamer and lamer ways of dehumanizing the unborn.

What to say to a woman who is happy about her abortion

joshbrahmWe could demonstrate that abortion is wrong even if every single post-abortive woman had positive feelings about her abortion….

I think women should consider whether abortion is not a wise decision, but we also want them thinking about how some things can be wrong even if they don’t affect us negatively.

For example, the head of a corporation that irreparably harms the environment or kills whales around Antarctica may not feel any guilt from that, and he may not suffer any loss in profit either. Yet it may still be immoral to harm whales or the environment in that way….

Here’s what I would never do: Say that you don’t believe the person in front of you. “But everybody is affected by abortion!” “You may not feel guilt yet, but you will later.” Statements like that will not be helpful.

Mom sues for “wrongful pregnancy” after birth of child with sickle cell disease

imageby Carder

I love Kennadi with all my heart, and that’s the honest-to-God truth. But it’s been a life change for everybody – my whole family….

Everybody’s had to pitch in…. It’s been hard to wrap my mind around having this child when my other children are grown.

It’s not fair. She is the absolute love of my life, but it’s hard. Sometimes people think I’m her grandmother.

~ 40-yr-old Cynthia Williams, complaining about the difficulties surrounding the unexpected conception and birth of her now 4-yr-old daughter Kennadi (both pictured above), who has sickle cell disease. Williams is now suing her doctor for “wrongful pregnancy” because he cauterized the wrong Fallopian tube during a tubal ligation, which failed to prevent the conception of Williams’ daughter, as reported by ABC News, March 18

  • Clinic Quotes shares something that might make your blood boil:

In one year alone, the Los Angeles Planned Parenthood clergy consultation service received $250,000 in kickbacks from clinics to which they referred women for abortions.

Planned Parenthood and their current Clergy Advisory Board has celebrated the 40th anniversary of the CCS and states that they are proud to continue defending abortion in the spirit of the CCS.

  • At Catholic Vote, Michael New says the real controversy at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) wasn’t about the decision to exclude the American Atheists from displaying a booth – it was the lack of representation of certain social issues that have always been considered conservative:

This year’s CPAC includes more than 20 panels on a range of interesting topics including the IRS, gun rights, and Obamacare. However, during the three day conference there are no panels specifically dealing with the sanctity of life, traditional marriage, or religious liberty issues.

  • Americans United for Life encourages Governor Ray Tomblin of West Virginia to sign a late-term abortion ban which was passed by the Democratically-led state House and Senate:

A woman seeking an abortion at 20 weeks (5 months) is 35 times more likely to die from abortion than she was in the first trimester. At 21 weeks or more, she is 91 times more likely to die from an abortion than she was in the first trimester.

  • At Coming Home, Dr. Gerard Nadal has a strong statement about Planned Parenthood’s intention to bestow their Margaret Sanger Award upon Nancy Pelosi (pictured left with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, and sex therapist Ruth Westheimer).

Pelosi presents herself as an ardent, practicing Catholic while at the same time wholeheartedly supporting abortion on demand. Nadal wonders how the bishops will respond:

We are beyond conversation about reception of the Eucharist at this point. The question is why we cannot acknowledge that legislators who vote specifically for abortion funding (not general budgets containing abortion funding) but specific legislation for protecting, funding, and facilitating abortion are formal cooperators in abortion, and as such have already incurred automatic (latae sententiae) excommunication as such? On the consequences of this there can be no more doubt or debate. None of the Catholics in the party of death have defended the Church against the Obama administration’s war on religion. They are all in, all the way.

We have nothing to lose that we have not already lost, or will lose soon enough. That said, what is most frightfully at stake is the very moral authority of the bishops themselves. Planned Parenthood and the pro-abortion Catholic legislators are celebrating a lifetime of malignant success in the middle of Lent. The time has come for the bishops to recognize that milestone with a pronouncement of their own, one that is long overdue.

  • Down on the Pharm may have coined a new term: fetophobia – the irrational fear of biological human development. Perhaps this was the reason that pro-life high school students were prevented from displaying accurate fetal models during lunch break at their school.
  • Abolish Human Abortion responds to the assertion that their drop cards, which are designed for public distribution, are “hate mail”:

So, are you more angry with finding the card or the fact that what it depicts is legally protected and nearly universally ignored by good people like yourself? I am more angry at the latter.

  • Big Blue Wave posts 8 simple rules for debating abortion. It is important for us to communicate effectively on this human atrocity.
