Pro-life vid of day: Pro-lifers redouble efforts in Albuquerque

by Hans Johnson

As reported on Friday, the group Stand For Life has made good on its promise to not give up after the disappointing vote last November in Albuquerque, New Mexico sanctioning the killing of babies at any age before natural birth.

Protest ABQ, a ministry of Project Defending Life, has launched a campaign to protest in front of businesses aiding and abetting the abortion industry.

Buffett Foundation hires architect of CA’s nonphysician abortion law

Tracy WeitzThe Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation has quietly hired Tracy Weitz, PhD, MPA, to head its domestic operation.

STBF is the charitable giving outlet for 83-yr-old Warren Buffett, the second richest man in the world, with a net worth of $63.4 billion.

Originally the Buffett Foundation, STBF was renamed by the billionaire in honor of his wife after she died in 2004.

STBF is currently ranked #14 in the Top 100 U.S. Foundations by Total Giving. STBF’s focus is population control. According to Buffett biographer Roger Lowenstein, Buffett has a “Malthusian dread that overpopulation [will] aggravate problems in all other areas – such as food, housing, even human survival.”

That dread has transcended into aggression against procreation. As of December 31, 2012, STBF had given away $367 million to “support[] the most radical aspects of the population control movement,” says Population Research Institute, with ready examples:

  • $2 million… to fund clinical trials of Mifepristone (RU-486)
  • $2 million… for the distribution of quinacrine hydrochloride, a chemical with [sic] sterilizes a woman by burning her fallopian tubes… illegal in the U.S., but is used, often coercively, in Vietnam, India, and other nations
  • $20 million grant to International Projects Assistance Services (IPAS) which manufactures and distributes manual vacuum aspirators, used for performing abortions in the Third World

Of course, another STBF benefactor is Planned Parenthood. In fact, STBF is among the abortion giant’s “top contributors,” according to Wikipedia, which reports PP received $3.8 million from STBF in 1999 alone. Access Philanthropy reported in 2006 that ”[m]ore than 100 PP affiliates received grants [from STBF] ranging from $5,000 to $500,000 during the last three years.”

Weitz is a a good fit to further enable STBF to push population control in the U.S. via abortion.

According to Catholic.com, ”Weitz [was] the woman at the Bixby Global Reproductive Health Center, University of California San Francisco who orchestrated the medical research project which ended in legalizing non-physician abortions.”

The project overseen by Weitz was Health Workforce Pilot Project, known as HWPP #171. Beginning in 2007, HWPP #171 launched a study that had nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and physician assistants from Planned Parenthood and Kaiser Permanente commit abortions and then compare complications to abortions committed by doctors.

As Life Legal Defense Foundation reported, the project was shady to begin with, and the results were not good:

The project reported in December 2011 an 80% increase in complications when Non-physicians performed surgical abortions. No explanation was given as to why complications increased.

Nevertheless HWPP #171 was used to propel legislation in California, allowing nonphysicians to commit 1st trimester aspiration abortions, which Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law in October 2013. (The state had already made it legal for nonphysicians to commit medical abortions in 2003.)

It was hoped that these steps in California to surmount the problem of scarcity of abortionists would spread, as Laura Jimenez, executive director of California Latinas for Reproductive Justice made clear when Brown signed AB 154:

We are proud that California is the only state in the nation right now that is passing proactive legislation to improve access to abortion, and we hope that this law can further efforts to expand access to women throughout the country.

With Weitz now in charge of STBF’s domestic purse strings, that expansion attempt is game on.

As Weitz’s bio states, her “current research focuses on innovative strategies to expand abortion provision in the U.S.”

Star Parker: Born Alive Infants Protection Act needs to be enforced

StarParker242x363by Kelli

My colleagues found in their investigations around the nation that [abortionist Kermit] Gosnell was by no means one of a kind. There are more. And, to our dismay, irresponsible and inhumane behavior continues regarding the treatment of women, particularly low-income minority women, in these facilities.

The grand jury that investigated Gosnell speculated why he operated so long without getting attention: “We think the reason no one acted is because the women in question were poor and of color, because the victims were infants without identities, and because the subject was the political football of abortion.”…

The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act was signed into law by President Bush in 2002 — after passing in the Democratic-controlled Senate unanimously. It outlaws the murder of infants born during late-term abortion procedures — what Gosnell was doing.

But the law… is just a warning shot, because it invokes no criminal or civil penalties when violated. Yes, it’s hard to believe that although the federal government recognized, finally, the humanity of every child once he or she arrives in the world, there is no penalty if that child is not protected from death by murder or intentional neglect.

In the memory of the souls of babies killed by Gosnell and others, and in the name of the decency of this nation, this should be changed. The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act should be revisited and both criminal and civil penalties included for the intentional destruction of any newborn infant.

Shocking graph: Planned Parenthood’s market share now 1/3 of all U.S. abortions

2014-03-17_1222American Life League’s STOPP reported in February:

Here are some comparative numbers based on the Guttmacher report entitled “Abortion Incidence and Service Availability in the United States, 2011,” and Planned Parenthood’s annual reports, showing Planned Parenthood’s ever-increasing share of the U.S. abortion market:

Planned Parenthood committed 31.6% of abortions nationwide in 2011
Planned Parenthood committed 23.3% of abortions nationwide in 2006
Planned Parenthood committed 16.5% of abortions nationwide in 2001
Planned Parenthood committed 11.3% of abortions nationwide in 1996
Planned Parenthood committed 8.5% of abortions nationwide in 1991
Planned Parenthood committed 6.2% of abortions nationwide in 1986

The graph below shows that Planned Parenthood abortions continue to soar, even as national abortion rates have declined and leveled off.

PP v Nal Abortions_1

See Planned Parenthood’s abortion numbers spike upward from 1970 onward here.

Applying actual numbers of babies murdered at PP to STOPP’s percentages above:

2011: 333,964
2006: 289,750
2001: 213,026
1996: 153,367
1991: 132,314
1981: 79,997

By 2012, Planned Parenthood had killed a total of 6 million babies, a grim milestone.

Interestingly, Planned Parenthood‘s escalating numbers come at a cost to mom and pop chop shops. Normally liberals oppose big business. Who can forget their Occupy Wall Street fiasco?

IMG_2802_Aisha_Bouderdaben_1But liberals apparently don’t mind that Planned Parenthood – whose NYC base of operations is ironically not far from Wall Street – is corporate Big Abortion, running smaller private abortion clinics out of business.

An abortionist at one of Planned Parenthood’s smaller competitors compared it to not to Wall Street but Wal-Mart. Quoting LiveActionNews.com:

Peter Bours, a physician in Oregon, reports that new Planned Parenthood franchises in his area are making one of his offices financially untenable; whereas he has once provided 100 or more abortions per month in his Portland office, he now performs around 20. Referring to Planned Parenthood as “the Walmart of abortion clinics,” Bours contends that the larger providers offer inferior services….

As Planned Parenthood’s abortion numbers climb, its claim that abortion accounts for only 3% of its business becomes all the more untenable.

Even liberal NPR debunked that lie, correcting that figure upward to 10%, meaning one in 10 of Planned Parenthood’s patients submit to abortions. And as sba-list.org pointed out, 37% of Planned Parenthood’s clinic income comes from abortion.

Pro-life vid of day: Megyn Kelly interviews pro-life teen attacked by prof

by LauraLoo

On March 13, Megyn Kelly of Fox News  interviewed two sisters, Joan and Thrin Short, who were displaying  images of abortion victims on March 4 within the University of California, Santa Barbara’s “free speech zone” when they were accosted by Mireille Miller-Young, a professor of Feminist Studies.

Miller-Young now claims the abortion photos triggered a visceral response from her because she is pregnant. The professor and another student stole and then destroyed the sign being held by Thrin. When the sisters tried to get the sign back, the professor shoved and scratched Thrin – and it was all caught on video.

Actress Jenny Mollen didn’t like kids – until she had one

jenny-mollen and familyby Carder

I was never the girl who yearned for children. I pretended to be interested in other people’s kids, but that was obviously just an act.

The truth was, children scared me. I knew that no matter what I did as a parent, I was bound to do some things wrong….

I wasn’t completely connected [during pregnancy]. I didn’t know how I could love something more than my dogs….

I worried that I hadn’t done enough with my life, that I wasn’t equipped to be the kind of mother he needed….

A nurse walked back over and placed my newborn son on my chest…. I cradled him in my arms the way I’d seen people hold babies in movies and tried to console him.

I was instantly and completely transformed. In that moment I knew I’d never be the person I was before, because now, I didn’t seem to matter that much. I was no longer concerned with accumulating the most Twitter followers or scoring the best parking spot at Whole Foods.

I wasn’t ready for kids. I was just ready for him.

New Stanek poll: My pick for 2016 GOP presidential nominee is…

imageI have a new poll question up:

My pick for 2016 Republican presidential nominee is…

Yes, it’s early! But the field is vastly populated with hopefuls, and it’s not too soon for pro-life voices to be heard.

Choices in alpha order are: John Bolton, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, Rick Perry, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Rick Santorum, and Scott Walker.

Vote on the lower right side of the home page, but make comments here, not there.

Our previous poll question and responses were:

2014-03-16_1030

So the vast number of pro-lifers responding to this poll thought regulating abortion clinics helps in the fight to stop abortion.

Stanek Sunday funnies, “Obama’s Magical Mystery Media Tour” edition

President Obama has been making interesting choices for media stops recently, and both liberal and conservatives political cartoonists have taken notice. Be sure to vote for your favorite in the poll at the bottom of this post…
