Pill creator’s vision of future “not a world we want to live in”

brave-new-worldby Kelli

This is not a world we want to live in, although many have tried to create it for several decades now. Already, a crude form of this Brave New World has been created through the pill, a chemical weapon which women are conditioned to use on themselves.

Pregnancy is equated to a parasitic condition and an inconvenience, and by persuading women of these subtle lies, they are objectified and turned into sexual objects. Instead of being potential mothers and wives, women are now reduced to willing recreational victims of male sexual desire.

We must pray that Dr. Djerassi’s vision of a brave new world is wrong, and that the world will not turn to IVF and normalize recreational sex as the new normal. We must keep in mind that Brave New World was science fiction, and it was a cautionary tale, told for a reason.

~ Catholic Online, responding to Pill creator Carl Djerassi’s widely publicized claim that by 2050, sex will be solely for recreation and children will be conceived via IVF, November 11

War on Women, Extreme Edition: prison for miscarriage?

10406672_831509336871205_6394487492385379703_n

Following the devastating Democrat rout last week, commentators on both sides of the political spectrum have proclaimed the “war on women” battle cry dead.

While abortion enthusiasts may now be forced to retire that exact terminology, and while they may also be forced to temper their hysterical push for free contraceptives (also because the new Republican “let’s offer them over-the-counter” counter-offensive terrifies Planned Parenthood), rest assured they will repackage the message.

In fact, they already have.

The abortion lobby has pushed a version of this forever, but they revealed their next PR campaign in a New York Times op ed on November 8.

Their previous version was that mothers procuring back alley abortions will be thrown in prison should abortion be made illegal.

Clarke Forsythe of Americans United for Life handily refuted that when liberal Chicago Tribune columnist Eric Zorn tried to corner me in 2006.

Basically, Forsythe responded that there are no known cases of aborting mothers being prosecuted before Roe v Wade legalized abortion nationwide in 1973, and the law has always considered women second victims in abortion. Prosecuting them would circumvent the real goal of nabbing the perpetrators, i.e., the abortionists.

The new and improved meme is that pro-life laws will be used to send miscarrying mothers to prison. See graphic above, referenced below…

This argument has also been out for awhile, but abortion proponents are ratcheting it up as a major offensive now that former claims are felling on deaf ears.

In the NYT, Lynn Paltrow and Jeanne Flavin of the pro-abortion and misnomered group National Advocates for Pregnant Women, used skewed reports to make their case.

If the examples Paltrow and Flavin gave sound too incredible to be true, they are. Here’s just one:

In Louisiana, a woman who went to the hospital for unexplained vaginal bleeding was locked up for over a year on charges of second-degree murder before medical records revealed she had suffered a miscarriage at 11 to 15 weeks of pregnancy.

The real story? In a 2013 report Paltrow and Flavin went into greater detail, still being coy and adding some dramatic flair. But what really happened nevertheless becomes clear:

In Louisiana, Michelle Marie Greenup, a twenty-six-year-old African American woman, went to a hospital complaining of bleeding and stomach pain. Doctors suspected that she had recently given birth and contacted law enforcement authorities. After repeated police interrogations, Greenup “confessed” that the baby was born alive and it died because she had failed to provide it with proper care.

Greenup was charged with second-degree murder and incarcerated. Eventually counsel for Greenup obtained her medical records, which revealed that the fetus could not have been older than between 11 to 15 weeks and that prior to the miscarriage Greenup had been given Depo-Provera, a contraceptive injection that may cause a miscarriage if administered to a woman who is already pregnant.

Greenup was finally released, but only after she agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor violation of a public health law that regulates disposal of human remains. There is no indication that the human remains law was intended to apply to pregnant women confronted with a miscarriage

So Greenup gave birth at home and confessed to authorities that her baby died due to her neglect, after which she dumped his or her dead body.

There was a there there. Paltrow and Flavin’s colorful rendition is not plausible. I’m confident this holds true for the rest of their examples in the NYT.

Paltrow and Flavin also took issue with mothers being prosecuted for intentionally harming their babies prenatally.

But why not? If mothers are prosecuted for harming their children post-birth, they should be held just as liable pre-birth.

If courts are able to determine whether mothers are negligent or violent toward born children, courts can certainly make the same determination regarding harm inflicted on preborn children.

Mothers should be held responsible for drugging their preborn babies, just as they are for postborn babies. Or plying preborns with alcohol.  The route of administration is simply different.

[tweet_box]Mothers shld be prosecuted 4 drugging preborn babies or plying them w alcohol, just as 4 postborns.[/tweet_box]

Throwing in the kitchen sink, Paltrow and Flavin complained pro-life laws are forcing pregnant mothers to undergo caesarian sections against their will.

But there are indeed extreme cases when higher authorities should step in when mothers refuse surgery that would save the lives of their children.

As a labor and delivery RN, I witnessed several examples, for instance a psychiatric patient who tried to refuse a c-section to save her baby’s life. She was eventually overruled, rightfully so.

Pro-life vid: God reassures preborn baby in Garth Brooks song

by Hans Johnson

We’re often told about the sacredness of a private relationship between a woman and her doctor. Well, another “concept” is considered in the new song, “Mom,” which Garth Brooks debuted on ABC’s Good Morning America.

Brooks told Robin Roberts it’s one of his favorites, and that “when it describes what a mom is… whew, it kills me. It’s a beautiful song. I wish I’d written it.” Judging from the audience’s reaction, he wasn’t the only one who was moved:

Midterm election results not necessarily pro-life culture change

midterm election mapby Carder

In 2016, more liberals, more culture-of-death voters will be getting up off their couches and voting for the anti-life, anti-family candidate for President. They will try to convince the one third of of the so-called conservative ranks to join them–and in all likelihood, enough of them will.

We hate to be bursting these Pollyanna bubbles but, instead of conservatives and pro-lifers drinking the kool-aid and believing their own press clippings, they need to do a reality check and see it for what it more likely is: one last chance to make their case for life and family.

They have a little less than two years. The clock is ticking.

  • Pro-Life Action League reports on the now-closed All Women’s Health in Chicago, run by abortionist Mandy Gittler (who was responsible for the death of Tonya Reaves at a Chicago Planned Parenthood). All Women’s has been accused of scamming women who visited for pap smears and health exams.
  • Real Choice chronicles one of over a dozen known deaths from National Abortion Federation clinics from 1970-2004. This case, from 1994, details the death of a high school senior who was 17 weeks pregnant. Records show that the abortionist did the entire second trimester abortion in three minutes, which (understandably) contributed to the young woman’s “safe and legal abortion” death.

It remains appallingly controversial in Canada to state in Parliament that killing female pre-born children simply because they are female is wrong. Canada, we can learn something from the UK about human rights. Wake up and get with the times.

  • Hormonal contraception may be relatively cheap in dollars and cents, but ProLife365 counts the other costs of birth control which aren’t often discussed.
  • Wesley J. Smith points out how schizophrenic we have become in dealing with the issue of assisted suicide. The UK, which opposes the death penalty, is considering setting up suicide courts where a person could petition a judge for authorization to have a doctor prescribe a lethal dose to end his/her life. Smith quotes The Independent:

Judges could routinely be given the power of life or death over patients who are determined to die to end their suffering. Proposals to use judges as the final arbiters of who can be helped to die go some way to satisfying opponents to Lord Falconer’s Assisted Dying Bill. Lord Pannick QC proposed judicial oversight in amendments to the Bill which went before the House of Lords yesterday. The Lords, in the first Parliamentary vote on the Bill, gave it their approval.

  • Live Action News profiles a non-denominational evangelical pastor from Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in Southern California, who declared boldly that he will go to jail before funding abortion:

Senior Pastor Jack Hibbs – a strong pro-life proponent – has encouraged his congregation to uphold religious values and fundamental liberties in the public square. Now, the church is opposing a California mandate egregiously imposed on religious institutions across the Golden State. The congregation is challenging a decision by the California Department of Managed Healthcare that forces all employers, including churches, to provide coverage for elective abortions in all health insurance plans.

We have heard much about the power of the pulpits during the recent election. Could this be an awakening?

Pro-life video of the day: Veterans Day tribute

by Hans Johnson

November is a month of notable military anniversaries. Yesterday was the 239th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps. Next week marks 151 years since the first reading of the Gettysburg Address. And, of course, today is Veterans Day.

While we pay tribute to all who have served in our armed forces, our thoughts inevitably go to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation’s life and liberty. One of the too many fallen was Pfc. Jesse Givens, who wrote a letter to his wife Melissa (as dramatized in this video) just a week before he was killed in Iraq in 2003. He asked her to only open it upon his death – which she did, in the maternity ward after having given birth to their second son.

We shall never forget those who, as President Lincoln said one-and-a-half centuries ago, gave “the last full measure of their devotion.”

Mom confronts stranger who suggests she should have aborted her son

gabe2by Kelli

Sometimes I forget, because Gabe is just that — Gabe. When I look at him I don’t see Down syndrome, I see my son, Abi’s brother — a sweet, willful, determined little boy.

Sometimes I forget, and that makes it even harder when someone reminds me in a not so kind way.

Like the cashier who gave me sad eyes and spit poison in a whisper, “I bet you wish you had known before he came out. You know they have a test for that now…”

Shock, horror, hurt and fury coursed through my body. I considered jerking her over the register and beating her senseless. I looked her up and down; I could take her.

Instead I used wit. I smiled a crazy lady smile. “I know right?! It’s so much harder to get rid of them once they come out. Believe me I’ve tried…” Jackpot! Her mouth dropped open, and she stared at me in shock.

I leaned over the register and whispered to her, “What you’re saying is that it’s OK for me to kill him while he’s inside but not outside? In my book there isn’t a difference. For the record, we knew everything about him during my pregnancy. He’s our son now, and he was our son then. There is no way in hell that I would let any harm come to either of my children, including during the time that they’re so ridiculously considered disposable.”

Pro-life vid of day: Reaching abortion workers on the sidewalks

by Kelli

It is important to remember that as we seek to change our nation by electing pro-lifers to public office, the “front lines” of where the abortion war takes place is on the sidewalks – in changing the hearts and minds of abortion-minded women and of those working in the abortion industry.

Sidewalk Advocates for Life shares a video clip of former Planned Parenthood manager Ramona Trevino, who credits her departure from PP to the support she received from pro-life sidewalk counselors:
