Abortion a personal experience for Christian rapper

Stephen the leviteby Carder

Truth is, I got a girl pregnant when I was in high school, and she ended up aborting the baby. And if that child was still alive, it’d be a teenager by now.

And that’s a reality I have to live with. That was something I had to think about when I was writing one of the songs for this album.

Pro-life vid of day: Republican women standing for life

by Hans Johnson

The 2014 midterm elections swept many new pro-life Republicans into office, such as Mia Love from Utah. And now young members of “the generation that will end abortion” are entering government leadership.

Elise Stefanik (R-NY), at age 30, becomes the youngest congresswoman ever elected. Saira Blair (R-WV), 18, will be the youngest state legislator in U.S. history.

The two most headline-grabbing pro-choice advocates of the past year have suffered monumental defeats. Sandra Fluke, running for state senate, lost 2 to 1 in California, while Wendy Davis lost by a million votes in her bid for Governor of Texas.

Davis’ vacated state senate seat was won by Konni Burton, an adoptive mother whose campaign ad features daughter Tori speaking about how thankful she is to have been given a chance at life.

Konni Burton notes in the video, “Wendy Davis says she is standing for women, but she has forgotten the women that will never have the chance to stand for themselves because their lives were taken while still in the womb.”

Pro-life Republicans should “go on offense” on abortion

2015GameChanger3inx3in
by Kelli

… [E]very time an anti-abortion candidate opens her mouth on abortion, she can expect her words will be twisted and spun in the worst possible way. This creates an understandable reluctance on the part of many conservative candidates to talk about abortion….

So, what should high-profile, anti-abortion candidates do?

Well, first, it is absolutely inexcusable for any anti-abortion candidate to not have a well-rehearsed and thoughtful answer to the “hard questions” that they should have to face, such as how to deal with abortion in the case of rape. Candidates should be coached, and coached again, on speaking well on sensitive issues. This should go without saying, but, apparently, it cannot.

But, most importantly, anti-abortion candidates should realize — understand down to their bones — that the best defense is a good offense, and that, deep down, more Americans are on their side than not, if a good case is made. Any answer to a question on abortion should end with something like: “I think all Americans understand that there are very hard questions involved in this issue — for both sides. So I guess I want to know why journalists always ask me the hard questions on this issue, but never ask my opponent the hard questions on her side of the issue. Why does she take money from the multibillion-dollar abortion business Planned Parenthood, which supports third-trimester abortions, which we’re the only country to have with China and North Korea, abortions of viable babies, infanticide, and has a record of covering up sexual abuse and the rape of minors? I’m willing to answer the hard questions, but I want my opponent to answer those questions as well.”

If a candidate has supported late-term abortion and other extreme liberal abortion positions, the opponent should not be shy about running ads highlighting that fact. Candidates who take money from abortion-rights lobbies should be tied to those groups’ most extreme positions and to exemplars of the reality of abortion such as Kermit Gosnell.

The Democratic Party platform, and the platform of the abortion lobbies within the Democratic coalition, are extreme on abortion. The Democratic Party position is government-funded abortion as a constitutional right at any point in the pregnancy (including perhaps infanticide) for whatever reason. However muddled Americans are on the issue of abortion, they definitely view that as extreme, and this is an opportunity for the Republican Party.

Abortion can be a winning issue for the GOP. All they have to do is be smart about it — and go on the offense.

Pro-life vid of day: “Divine intervention” heals baby in womb

by Hans Johnson

An expectant couple got bad news from their ultrasound: their son had severe cases of ascites and tachycardia (abdominal edema and fast heartbeat). They were told to prepare for their child to go into cardiac arrest before he ever made it to birth. But Someone had another plan for David William. He just underwent a little more “knitting together” than most.

GOP-controlled Senate “trouble for reproductive rights”?

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Attends Election Night Gatheringby Carder

A Republican-controlled Senate with McConnell as majority leader could spell serious trouble for reproductive rights.

McConnell has been vocal in his support for a national 20-week abortion ban, which he is likely to try to bring to the floor for a vote.

Democrats would probably filibuster such a bill, and President Obama would almost certainly veto it. But McConnell could bring it up multiple times to try to draw media attention and move the needle on public opinion, or he could even insert it into a must-pass, simple-majority budget bill.

~ Emily Crockett, describing a potentially pro-choice nightmare scenario now that the Republicans have control of the Senate with Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell most likely as Majority Leader, RH Reality Check, November 4

Pro-life blog buzz 11-4-14

pro-lifeby Susie Allen, host of the blog, Pro-Life in TN, and Kelli

  • Before Brittany Maynard followed through on her plan to commit suicide, Wesley J. Smith discussed the pro-assisted suicide group, Compassion & Choices, which used Brittany to solicit donations before and after her death. More than that, did the group actually encourage her suicide? Smith quotes Rita Marker from American Thinker:

This explosion of coverage was due to a public campaign facilitated by Compassion & Choices (the former Hemlock Society) to legalize Oregon-style doctor-prescribed suicide in every state. The organization has established the Brittany Maynard Fund to raise money for political campaigns to legalize doctor-prescribed suicide in targeted states across the country.

And, to strengthen the resolve of the young woman for whom the campaign is named, Compassion & Choices has posted “Brittany’s Card” on its website. “Let’s get 1 million people to sign Brittany’s card,” states the message, adding, “Sign the card and let Brittany know you support her bravery in this very tough time.”

Smith doubts that C&C would have supported Brittany if she had instead sought hospice. “Rita is right,” he writes. “The card-signing campaign pushes Maynard to carry through with suicide. What else could be meant by ‘support her bravery’?”

  • Saynsumthn’s Blog highlights the link between Planned Parenthood and the assisted suicide group Compassion & Choices. Three of the group’s advisory board members were also board members for Planned Parenthood. And, of course, both organizations make money from death.

  • At The Vine, Breeanne Howe reports that actress Lena Dunham (pictured left) – who bared her breasts in a promotion for Planned Parenthood and who is currently under fire for writing about her own allegedly predatory sexual behavior toward her younger sister – now hopes to release a children’s movie which contains “incest and beatings.” Will Planned Parenthood support her in this venture?
  • Reflections of a Paralytic wishes more people understood that IVF is “just as much a human tragedy as abortion.” He outlines one woman’s journey through IVF which led her to eventually recognize the dehumanizing nature of the procedure:

Earlier this year, I went on a retreat for post-abortive parents, since I felt that what I’d done to my babies through IVF was similar. I felt mixed vibes from others there, possibly because most people don’t understand the complexity of IVF. But if life starts at conception, then you can have sorrow and regret for denying your children life through IVF, the same as you do with abortion.

  • Secular Pro-Life writes about finding cures for genetic conditions without turning prenatal testing into a search-and-destroy mission:

Jim Kelly… was a star quarterback for the University of Miami in the early 1980s and for the Buffalo Bills until 1996…. Jim’s son, Hunter, had a rare genetic disorder called Krabbe’s disease…. [H]e passed away at the age of 8. During his short life, he was profoundly disabled. The Kellys founded Hunter’s Hope to fund research into the possible treatments and cures that were unknown when Hunter was diagnosed. Too often, work on lethal genetic disorders is focused not on curing the disease, but on developing prenatal tests so that those afflicted with the disease can be aborted (ostensibly to spare them suffering). But the Kellys — who I should, in all fairness, acknowledge are devout Christians — did not take that approach.

And in fact, a cure has emerged for Krabbe’s disease: umbilical cord blood from a healthy baby is transplanted into the affected child. But an umbilical cord blood transplant only works if done early, before the person with Krabbe’s disease is symptomatic. Therefore, Hunter’s Hope does advocate for testing: but in newborns, not in the preborn.

  • Right to Life of Michigan outlines how union dues – especially those from the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers – are funneled into Planned Parenthood’s PAC:

Michigan Planned Parenthood Votes is their new super PAC which was just formed in August of 2014. According to their October quarterly report, they basically have only 1 major donor. That donor is America Votes Action Fund which is located in Washington, D.C., and [which] gave them $425,000 this cycle after the August primary of the $430,100 direct contributions they’ve received. The majority of Planned Parenthood’s Super PAC money has been used to pay the canvassers $12 an hour to go door to door for pro-abortion candidates. Other funds have been used for what appear to be mailing pieces and robocalls….

So union money goes to America Votes Action Fund and then gets dispersed to various state level groups, some of which have nothing to do with unions (such as Planned Parenthood) except for their Democratic Party leanings.

Every member of the National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers should be made aware their unions are contributing money to another organization which then funnels that money to pro-abortion groups with the sole goal of electing pro-abortion legislators.

Pro-life video of the day: GOP warns about Obamacare

by Hans Johnson

With insurance cancellation notices and skyrocketing insurance costs impacting millions of Americans, many have pinned their hopes on a Republican effort to repeal Obamacare, should the GOP take both houses of Congress.

While some – both Republican and Democrat – have said that a repeal effort is unlikely, it appears the GOP is seeking to refute these claims with this parody of DirecTV’s “Get Rid of Cable” commercial campaign.
