Breaking: Battleground bus tour will expose Obama’s radical support of abortion, infanticide

To this day, even when speaking to pro-lifers, I still so often hear, “I didn’t know Obama was that bad on abortion!” when I tell about my experience with him as state senator and his opposition to the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act. Students for Life of America found in a recent poll of young Americans that his support sank by 43% among undecided voters when they learned of his radical support of infanticide.

The Susan B. Anthony List is going to spotlight exactly that during a 10-day battleground state bus tour beginning August 20, and I’m thrilled to have been invited along for the ride.

Press release…

Democrat platform committee warned: Soften abortion stance or lose

There were lots of interesting tidbits in Melinda Henneberger’s August 7 Washington Post piece, “Democratic abortion foes push for change in platform.”

For starters:

Democratic dissenters on the issue of abortion have made their case to the platform committee, arguing that the party should change its language enough to allow for some diversity of opinion on the matter and return to the “big tent” approach of the Clinton years.

[Democrats for Life president] Janet Robert, who founded Minnesota’s progressive talk radio station AM 950… was given seven minutes… to argue that the party simply cannot win back Congress without Democrats who differ from the ’08 platform on this one issue. She cited a slew of stats, including a Gallup poll from last year in which 44% of Democrats said abortion should only be legal “in a few circumstances.”

But with NARAL president Nancy Keenan on the platform committee, it ain’t gonna happen. Plus, the abortion lobby has more power than ever with ally Barack Obama at the helm.

Stanek weekend question: What is your birthday wish for President Obama?

Today marks President Barack Obama’s 51st birthday.

Pro-life graphics whiz Ryan Bomberger’s birthday wish is a bit abrupt: “Happy Birthday, Obama. Now Get Out.” (Patriot Super PAC will air Ryan’s latest video project carrying that theme starting this weekend in Florida..)

I’m sure other pro-lifers would like to congratulate President Obama for even having a birthday to celebrate, while so many others don’t…

American Cancer Society CMO claims Planned Parenthood has largest OB practice in U.S.

Pro-life stalwart Abby Johnson recently received a request from the American Cancer Society for a donation via snail mail.

Abby responded with a note explaining she would not give to ACS because 1) it had given money to Planned Parenthood in the past and never recanted; and 2) it refused to acknowledge the link between abortion and breast cancer.

Abby expected nothing to come from her response but was surprised to receive a letter from Dr. Otis W. Brawley (pictured right), ACS’s Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President, Research and Cancer Control Science.

The surprise didn’t end there. In his letter, Dr. Brawley made the wild claim that “Planned Parenthood delivers more children than any other medical practice in the U.S.”

Beyond creepy: Obama uses daughters to push abortion

On July 24 President Barack Obama used his daughters as props to promote abortion, stating at an Oregon fundraiser (video here):

Mr. Romney wants to get rid of funding for Planned Parenthood. I think that’s a bad idea. I’ve got two daughters. I want them to control their own health care choices. We’re not going backwards, we’re going forwards.

We all know the word “choice” is a euphemism for “abortion.” And the fight to defund Planned Parenthood is all about abortion. So clear as mud, Obama was advocating the freedom for his daughters to abort his own grandchildren. I’m not the only one who took his statement that way. Wrote CP Politics:

Planned Parenthood and Barack Obama both responsible for death of Tonya Reaves

Over the weekend the mainstream media was surprisingly forthcoming in reporting the tragic death of a mother following her second trimester abortion at a Chicago Planned Parenthood, revealing her name, age, and the name of her surviving son. Also sad was news that she had an identical twin. From CBS Chicago:

Tonya Reaves, 24, died late Friday night from a hemorrhage, with a cervical dilation and evacuation, as well as an intrauterine pregnancy as contributing causes, according to the medical examiner’s office.

She died after she’d had an abortion at Planned Parenthood at 18 S. Michigan Av, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Her death was ruled an accident, but the Reaves family wants to know more, especially Tonya’s twin sister Toni.

“We were born the same day. She was my other half,” Toni said….

Toni Reaves said her sister was engaged to be married and had one son – Alvin – who just had his first birthday.

The Daily Mail went so far as to (sort of) describe the type of abortion procedure Reaves underwent:

President Obama doubling down on contraception mandate

Yeah. Well it’s absolutely true that religious liberty is critical… that’s the reason why we exempted churches, we exempted religious institutions. But we did say that big Catholic hospitals or universities who employ a lot of non-Catholics, and who receive a lot of federal money, that for them to be in a position to say […]

Pro-life news brief 6-21-12

  • At The Atlantic Cities, Richard Florida discusses the geography of abortion in the United States. Much of it shows how incredibly wrong pro-choicers are when they act as if pro-life policies do nothing to affect the abortion rate (emphasis mine):

First and foremost, the geography of abortion follows the red and blue political patterning of the states. It is positively associated with the share of state voters who voted for Obama in 2008 (.60 to .65) and negatively associated with McCain votes (-.58 to -.63). This is a dramatic change from 1974-1988, the period covered by the 1994 NBER study, which found that “extensive Republican or Democratic control in a state is uncorrelated with abortion rates.” …

Abortion is most strongly associated with the fault-line of socio-economic class, across three key dimensions—income, education, and occupation. Abortion rates track closely with the wealth and affluence of states: the richer the location, the higher the rate of abortions (the correlations between the two range from .53 to .65). This effect is in line with previous studies and thus appears to be of long standing.
