Pro-life March Madness: “Sweeping… hurtling… astonishing display”

2013-03-27_1651

If abortion proponents condemned 2011 as “the year of abortion restrictions… mark[ing] a sea change for abortion rights,” and 2012 as “an unmitigated disaster for abortion rights,” I can’t imagine what they will say about 2013.

In 2011 there were a record 92 pro-life laws enacted in the states, followed by the second highest number, 43, in in 2012. This year has already seen at least 14 pro-life bills become law, according to Mailee Smith, Staff Counsel for Americans United for Life, so we are on track for another banner year.

But in 2013 we are not only seeing a high volume of typical pro-life legislative fare, we are seeing passage of pro-life legislation on steroids, the likes of which has never been observed in 40 years of legalized abortions throughout the U.S.

  • Coming Home says the ACLU certainly has fallen far from protecting civil liberties, as they are now defending sex-selective and eugenic abortion of the disabled:

Having abandoned the protection of the weakest among us and championing the “rights” of those who prey upon the weak, the ACLU has gutted itself. In championing the right to murder little girls for being little girls, and for championing the murder of the genetically imperfect, the ACLU has become indistinguishable from the slaveholding and segregationist class it once despised and against whom it found its organizational identity.

Such is the malevolent power of abortion to corrupt.

Dr. Koop opposed eugenic abortions at Christ Hospital

I was sad to learn Dr. C. Everett Koop passed away on February 25. Dr. Koop was President Ronald Reagan’s pro-life surgeon general. Read Dr. Koop’s touching obituary at World Magazine. I came to personally learn just how strongly pro-life Dr. Koop was in 1999. I had just publicly revealed that my employer, Christ Hospital, […]

  • ProLifeBlogs has a Wisconsin Right to Life post on the Obama campaign’s dishonest phone calls to Catholic voters in an attempt to get them to believe Obama doesn’t support abortion and that Planned Parenthood is really about “children get[ting] health care and prenatal care.” After promoting abortion ad nauseum to the American public via the Democratic National Convention, this is incredible. But could it be an indicator that abortion isn’t as winning an issue as they expected?

  • Moral Outcry comments on a Christianity Today article on a conference of young evangelicals who largely agreed that contraception should be promoted among Christian singles as a way to prevent abortions:

Combating abortion in the church isn’t going to happen by endorsing abortifacient birth control with a weak justification that since singles might sin anyway, we should help “prevent” the problem. Acknowledging a sinful lifestyle is just “how it is now” is agreeing with the kingdom of darkness that sin can be relative to situations.

Further, by trying to reduce the problem, we send a message that a baby is only a blessing if it’s a desired baby that comes through marriage and a couple’s want. Psalm 127:3 reminds us, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.”

Shockingly enough, Jesus and the Apostle Paul advocated celibacy and purity.
