Ohio RTL president: Make it easier to adopt

We have made a significant impact, abortion clinics are closing… in our evolution, we believe the next step is adoption…. More adoptions will lead to less abortions. More women will see opportunities to have their child and keep their child or place their child for adoption…. We’ve adopted two children, domestically and internationally, and what […]

Ohio Heartbeat Bill gets CPR

Huffington Post is reporting today that two Ohio pro-life groups that have been bitterly divided about a pro-life bill may be working together on a compromise.

This is fabulous news, if true, and it appears it is.

I called Janet Porter, who leads Faith2Action, the group behind what is known as the “Heartbeat Bill,” legislation that would protect Ohio babies from abortion after a heartbeat can be detected – as early as six weeks of pregnancy.

I asked Janet whether it was true she is now working with Ohio Right to Life on a compromise bill.

“We’re talking to everybody who will protect babies with beating hearts,” she responded. “There is talk of a compromise bill, but nothing is final yet.”

To me, that was a yes. A blurb on the F2A’s website, right, also indicates something is in the air.

Expect more news next week. Here’s the germane excerpt from HuffPo:

  • Vanessa Williams said this about her abortion in an interview with a Fox affiliate:

Who knows how life would have been different? I think the bottom line is I definitely would have been where I am now even if I’d gone down another path. It doesn’t take away from the drive or the talent. You can make your life whatever you want with or without a child.

  • Apparently, Politico has no understanding of what an apology is. From Sarah Silverman, this clearly isn’t one:

In her apology, Silverman tweeted:”It wasn’t funny for me to talk so casually about abortion. But when they take our right to choose away it will be HILARIOUS!” And: “The government should STAY OUT of our PRIVATE LIVES except when it comes to who we marry & what we do w our uteruses!!”

What’s wrong with this picture? Pro-life groups join pro-abortion groups to oppose the Ohio Heartbeat Bill

For the first time I can think of, pro-lifers are divided into three camps on a pro-life bill. Usually it’s just two, which is bad enough. I wrote on September 14 that both Ohio Right to Life and the Personhood people were actively opposing the Ohio Heartbeat Bill, which would ban abortion in Ohio from […]

Never mind: Pro-abort OH House Speaker to let pro-life teen receive honor after all

Perhaps it was because even the ACLU came to young Elisabeth Trisler’s defense, I don’t know. Whatever, Democrat pro-abort OH House Speaker Armond Budish has had a change of heart. On February 3 Budish blocked the OH teen from being honored on the House floor for winning National Right to Life’s 2009 teen oratory contest….

by turned down a request to honor National Right to Life’s oratory contest winner on the house floor. Perhaps his real message to Ohio’s teens is that excelling in public speaking isn’t worth being honored if their views are different than his,” said Mike Gonidakis, executive director of OH Right to Life. NARAL WI’s former […]
