It is what it is

Ok, Republicans and Democrats have agreed on a Continuing Resolution that will fund the government through the end of September. A government shut-down has been averted, whether one cares about that or not. The dust has not settled but here are some apparent take-aways for pro-lifers….

Amazing: Possible government shutdown boils down to funding the abortion industry

This, to me, is an amazing development. The budget disagreement, and whether or not the government shuts down, is now hinging on whether or not tax dollars continue to fund the abortion industry. Obama and the Democrats have made clear they’re willing to withhold troop funding over the issue of abortion. But there are 2 […]

Jivin J’s Life Links 3-23-11

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat SD Gov. Dennis Daugaard has signed a bill to require women seeking abortions to wait 72 hours and get counseling at a pregnancy center. The law takes effect July 1. The ACLU and Planned Parenthood in SD plan to file a lawsuit against the law. The DE House […]

NPR fact checks, debunks Planned Parenthood’s “3% of all services are for abortion” lie

UPDATE 3/9, 12:55p: Dr. Michael New has posted an excellent piece at National Review Online indicating “Powers’s argument was stronger than she probably realizes.” UPDATE 3/8, 11:40a: Kirsten Powers has written a retraction of her piece: I made a serious error in reporting this column that undermines the conclusion I drew. I compared statistics on […]

Stanek weekend question II: What are your six words for Life?

The pro-abort group National Partnership for Women & Families issued an interesting email this week: Ever heard of the six-word memoir? A few years ago, well before Twitter took the internet by storm, SMITH Magazine issued a challenge to its readers to sum up the story of their lives… in six words. The result is […]

House passes HR1: Restores cornucopea of pro-life policies

When in the wee hours this morning the House passed the Continuing Resolution (HR 1 – the federal budget through September 2010), it included several pro-life policies that would make the following changes:

Defunding Planned Parenthood: Now the real fight begins

Earlier this afternoon the Pence Amendment defunding Planned Parenthood passed in the House by a vote of 240-185-1. (The link to the roll call is not working yet.) Here is a summary of the vote: 240 Voting YES: 230 Republicans and 10 Democrats (Boren of OK, Costello of IL, Donnelly of IN, Lipinski of IL, […]
