- Both the Washington Post and the Washington, DC area NBC affiliate covered the pro-life protest at the abortion clinic in MD which is employing late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart. The Post estimated the crowd at around 300. I would be interested in seeing this video mentioned in the NBC story if it ever gets posted:
One camera crew from an anti-abortion web outlet tried to engage a pro-choice minister in a debate about when life begins and whether his support for Carhart was tantamount to defending a murderer. But the Rev. Carlton Veazey leaned on decisions by the Supreme Court that guard a woman’s right to make personal determinations about reproductive issues. One YouTube user shares his experience on video, which includes some revealing interviews with protest attendees:
- Video of the day’s press conference is here.
- The Wall Street Journal covers the latest development in Sherley v. Sebelius, the court case to decide whether President Obama’s embryonic stem cell funding policy violates the Dickey-Wicker Amendment:
Under the Dickey-Wicker Amendment, Congress prohibited taxpayer dollars from going toward the destruction of embryos. President Barack Obama, citing the scientific value of stem cells, has said federal dollars should fund embryonic stem-cell research, so long as the private sector paid for the embryos’ destruction. The government’s argument “rises or falls” on whether stem-cell research is intertwined with deriving stem cells, Judge Thomas Griffith said Monday. The judge peppered [Justice Department lawyer Beth Brinkmann] with questions on whether the federal money encourages embryo destruction. The panel also questioned [lawyer Thomas] Hunger’s contention that the federal government was breaking the law.
“There’s research into making laboratory equipment,” said Judge Douglas Ginsburg. “And then there’s research into using laboratory equipment.”
Mr. Hunger responded, “We’re not talking about equipment, we’re talking about subjects.”
- Brazilian soccer player Bruno Fernandes (pictured left with Eliza Samudio) has been sentenced to more than 4 years for kidnapping and assaulting a former girlfriend:The 25-year-old goalkeeper was found guilty of abducting Ms. Samudio in October 2009, physically assaulting her and forcing her to take abortion-inducing drugs before releasing her. Samudio’s child survived and she gave birth. She later disappeared and Fernandes is facing additional charges for her alleged murder.

Did the reporter actually say “Dr. Tillman, a Kansas abortion provider,” at about 0:33?
The interview with the “pastor” was definitely a (A Slobbering Love Affair author) Bernard Goldberg “Throw my shoe at the screen” moment. God calls mothers to kill their children? Where does this come from?
Matthew Westfox – protect the option of what? What is abortion? Why is it such a choice so spiritually heavy?
Called to be reproductive? Who’s doing the calling?
Do you really feel that what you’re doing is God’s calling?
Tired of polarized debates Matthew? You mean where truth is being told?
The complete reason you’re in ministry is to be a shill for “choice” – wow. Sad.
What about social justice Matthew?
You have no problems making children into orphans – then killing them?
Am I to presume from this United Church of Christ pastor that if they’re not ready to welcome me into their family, they can kill me?
Not God, obviously but Moloch….www.rcrc.org
Where I volunteer at the cpc, there are definitely churches we avoid for referrals.
I’d have a couple of dozen questions for that wolf disguised as a shepherd.
Yeah, that is one mixed-up “shepherd” who is leading the sheep astray.
On the other hand – go black guy! (sorry I don’t think his name is mentioned).
“The people who do this are the trash!”
He is awesome.
Carlton Veasey is becoming the Al Sharpton of the ‘bort movement.
As for that Sinister Minister from the United Church of Christ — does he wonder why his denomination is losing membership so rapidly?
