AG Eric Holder: “I don’t know” if DOJ ever enforced Born Alive Act
When Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before the House Judiciary Committee last Wednesday to provide information on a variety of scandals plaguing the Obama administration, he was also questioned about whether he had ever enforced the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act. Holder’s response was the same as it was 56 other times that day: “I don’t know.”
The Born Alive Act, passed by Congress in 2002, should have prevented the gruesome and grotesque killing of innocent lives that occurred in the clinic of Kermit Gosnell and is accused to have taken place in the pending case of late-term abortionist Douglas Karpen of Houston, Texas.
Interestingly, Holder seemed to evade a response to the question, put to him by Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ), by referring to his wife as “an obstetrician, a gynecologist – very accomplished in her field.”
What Holder did not mention is that his wife, Sharon Malone Holder of Foxhall OB/GYN in Washington D.C., and her sister are co-owners, through a family trust, of an Atlanta area abortion clinic building, located on Old National Highway in College Park, Georgia….
[Catherine Davis, a founding member of the National Black Prolife Coalition] said she was outraged by the revelations. “There is a clear conflict of interest when the man charged with pursuing those that abuse the system is also one who is engaged in some way with the business.”

“a variety of scandals plaguing the Obama administration” – I think you mean a variety of events currently under review which are being shamelessly exaggerated and misrepresented by republican politicians and their cronies. I see obama’s ratings are up and the republicans are down.
“There is a clear conflict of interest when the man charged with pursuing those that abuse the system is also one who is engaged in some way with the business.” – streeeetch. The same claim could be made no matter what business any tenant was conducting. His wife is co-owner of a building within which a legal and legitimate business is conducted. If you want to persecute building owners for activities which occur in the buildings they own why not target an illegal activity, like child molestation for example.

Why didn’t Holder prosecute Gosnell? Why doesn’t Holder prosecute Karpen, it is not too late?

Holder works for Obama; he doesn’t work for us.
Planned Parenthood expects Obama to protect the abortion industry. There will be no investigation or prosecution of anyone breaking abortion laws by this White House Administration.

To Reality: There’s been fowl ups concerning issues that are very important to many of us, including me. That’s no exaggeration. There are also obvious efforts to cover up the wrong doing (possibly criminal wrong doing), no exaggeration either. We must have those problems cleared up, not covered up. This administration is displaying far too many signs of a tendency towards totalitarianism. That is too dangerous a development to be ignored.

I wonder how much slack the liberal media have given obama because they had NO confidence that we would eventually elect a second or third president ‘of color.’ Why hold onto obama as if your career depended on it? Why keep it up while you hemorrhage credibility? Why keep up the game called Maybe the Alligator Will Eat Me Last?
Behold, our great nation is being brought down by a two-bit third-world huckster. And he couldn’t have done it without the (self destructive) liberal media elite.

As much as I’d love to blame Obama and the sycophantic media for the downfall of America, we are only getting what we asked for.
We want free access to divorce; we don’t want to be committed to our marriages. We want contraception; we don’t want to be committed to our children.
When we had the choice, during the last election, to choose a path of austerity and fiscal responsibility (with the hope of handing a stable economy down to our children) — or socialized funding of “free” birth control — we chose the free birth control.
We are a third-world culture living a first world lifestyle, for however much longer it will last. Expect Holder’s sort of this elitist cronyism and insider influence to become more pervasive in our government. On the bright side: When Big Tobacco wrestles control of government away from Big Abortion, at least I’ll be able to buy cheap pipe tobacco again.

Reality, would you feel the same way if we were talking about an oil company? I’m just curious.

I get that the majority of divorces are likely due to individuals making poor behavioral choices & a lack of effort and are preventable with careful consideration/pre-marriage counseling, and couples therapy, but what of situations where the marriage is irreversibly broken & a divorce is necessary, such as domestic violence, emotional/physical/sexual abuse, & neglect (I ask this because abusers often do not change & keeping someone married in that kind of situation would endanger their emotional/physical health)

*but what of situations where the marriage becomes irreversibly broken…

Doesn’t the Gosnell case prove the point? We can prosecute these cases with traditional laws. Don’t need the BAIPA.

All that Gosnell proves, Hal, is that the law doesn’t mean one whit if it isn’t enforced. And that we have gotten what we asked for. Abortion on demand and without apology. For anything, to anybody.

I think the fact that Holder didn’t prosecute Gosnell only proves AG Holder was uninformed or something?

MaryRose, the argument I often hear in other contexts is “let’s enforce the laws we have before we pass new ones.” What Gosnell did was illegal before BAIPA, and can be prosecuted easily without the new law. State Senator Obama was right on that count. The proposed law was clearly trying to do something else, like chip away on abortion rights.

What’s black and white and irrelevant all over? (you must be over 25 to get this riddle).

“I don’t know.” Holder’s three favorite words. They are his response to everything, from Fast and Furious to this latest scandal. He is either a chronic liar or chronically stupid. Either way he is too incompetent to be in any office, much less Attorney General.
Then again, that also means he fits in just fine with the Obama administration.
No justice for the innocent unborn children from Holder’s Department of Injustice.

“What’s black and white and irrelevant all over?” – the average republican politician’s written committment to ‘family values’?
Any ‘honesty pledge’ from the likes of Beck, Limbaugh etc. etc. etc.?
Maybe their marriage certificates?
Any of Michelle Bachmann’s written statements about her political ethics?
Most ‘tea party’, ‘patriot’ etc. groups paperwork claiming adherence to 501(c)(3)?

So, Hal, explain exactly how BAIPA chips away at abortion ‘rights’? Or do you agree with PP Lobbyist Snow that babies born alive from abortion should have no rights not given them by their mothers and the abortionists?

So I’m not allowed to get it. :(

Reality, what to your red in the face, huffing and puffing anti-conservative rants have to do with the topic at hand?
Although your rants are quite comical, they have little to do with the fact that Holder conveniently “doesn’t know” about the BAIPA. Not a big surprise, as he serves in an administration that supports infanticide.

Nothing, we all know that people always change the topic when they can’t win an argument.

Also, don’t feed the trolls and all that.

That’s odd Kelly x, all the video reports I see and all the media blurbs I read usually have the conservatives doing all the red-faced huffing and puffing. They make me laugh.
The ‘liberals’ on the other hand are invariably measured and calm in various media appearances.
You do realise, given what he is tasked to actually do in the role, that asking such a question of the federal attorney general is simply inane rhetoric and bluster? Maybe red-faced huffing and puffing even.

“Nothing, we all know that people always change the topic when they can’t win an argument.”
My first comment contained responses to comments made in the article. Quite a bit was made, disparagingly, of his wife’s property ownership. That’s why I cited quotes from said article preceding my responses. Hardly a change of topic.
Then I answered ninek’s question. Perhaps that’s a change of topic but since I was responding to what someone else said first I think your accusation may be misdirected.
And now I’ve responded to Kelly x’s question to me.
An I’m even responding to you ;-)

Ninek’s riddle could only be phrased the original way when the riddle was oral and newspapers were relevant (and read).

Reality’s getting desperate, peeps. Don’t feed him. He’s soon going to have to chew off his arm to get out from under the slime and destruction of this administration.
Obama and his hacks are the least informed folks in America, apparently.

Gee, if I get elected president does that mean MY advisors will also inform me with web links to mainstream media outlets? Such power!!

Chuckle chuckle ninek, is that it?
I’m not quite a senior citizen at this stage so I haven’t started using my newspaper to hide behind just yet.
I also obtain broader information and other viewpoints from the internet. You know the internet don’t you, you’re using it.
Your little riddle availed itself of a multitude of accurate responses, I cited a few for you :-)

Back in my day, we had a Reuter’s feed in our office, pre-interwebs. I could read a news story and send it to a coworker by telex. Still faster than the B.O. admits to getting his information. Of course, he’s a liar, liar, pants on fire, nose as long as a telephone wire!
Stop me before I make any more old timey references, lol!

The motors from old telex machines are great for applications such as powered gates. They accept a variable voltage input enabling their power to be adjusted according to need.

Thanks to Jill’s “Obama’s record on Born Alive” link at the top right corner of this blog we don’t have to wonder what Obama said. It is clear that he did not want BAIPA because he thought it would interfere with abortion rights. His thinking and actions reveal him to be an incredibly manipulative and brutish person….just like the sociopath that Mary has spoken of often.
