Pro-life vid of day: Conservative women talk pro-life issues

by Hans Johnson

The recently concluded annual conference of the Faith & Freedom Foundation had many mentions of the pro-life movement and other pro-life issues. Gary Bauer noted that the Obama Administation had seen more abortions committed than jobs created. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a potential presidential candidate for the Republicans, endeavored to establish his pro-life bona fides.

And a panel discussion, shown in the video below, covered Kermit Gosnell, the “War On Women”, and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) undertaking the management on the House floor of bill H.R. 1797 - a national ban on abortions after 20 weeks that was sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ).

Maryland county forced to pay $375k in legal fees for targeting pregnancy care centers

check Montgomery County Tepayac pregnancy care center pro-life abortion NARALUPDATE, 6/24, 10:40a: More good news! As reported by CBNNews.com today:

A federal district court struck down an Austin, Texas, anti-pregnancy care law that forced pro-life pregnancy care centers to post messages that encourage women to go elsewhere.

Another win for Alliance Defending Freedom and pro-life!

6/19 12:52p: This decision should go a long way in dissuading government bodies from passing unconstitutional ordinances that attempt to muzzle the life-saving work of pregnancy care centers.

Such ordinances may hurt their municipal pocketbooks.

A federal district court has ordered Montgomery County, Maryland, to pay $375,000 in legal fees to Centro Tepayac Silver Spring Women’s Center after the pregnancy care center won its 2010 lawsuit against the county for violating its right to free speech.

The ordinance attempted to force the pregnancy care center to post signage if counselors were nonmedical personnel, while giving a pass to nonmedical counselors at family planning clinics like Planned Parenthood.

The concept for this ordinance was provided by constitutionally-challenged NARAL.

After the ordinance was first introduced in Baltimore in 2009, a few other abortion-obsessed local bodies in Austin (Texas), Montgomery County, New York City, and San Francisco jumped on the bandwagon, only to be stopped in their tracks by pro-life lawsuits, all of which are still pending but have received preliminary affirmation. (Note: While dismissing some of  San Francisco’s First Resort pregnancy care center’s claims, a judge has allowed its “equal protection” claim of viewpoint discrimination to proceed.)

Since the prc ordinance microburst between 2009-11, no other local or county government in the U.S. has been so obtuse as to follow NARAL down the financially painful primrose path.

If NARAL were so sure of its “investigations” and ordinance, it would offer to cover legal expenses. Not.

Tepayac was represented by the great attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom.

Obamacare mandate “the beginning” of conscience problems

Tip of the Icebergby Kelli

All told, 300 plaintiffs are involved in 100 challenges to the anti-conscience mandate. But it is important to remember that all this commotion is the result of one small aspect of one set of regulations concerning preventive care under Obamacare.

And that means we’ve only just begun to see the potential conscience problems that could come from this massive overhaul of our health care system.

From beginning of life to end of life, health care involves innumerable moral considerations….

Handing the moral compass to remote bureaucrats to navigate this territory is a bad idea….

Obamacare has given the federal government the power to determine what insurers must cover, what employers must include in their health plans, and what individual Americans must buy. There is no way out, and that is bad news for conscience.

Journo calls out Planned Parenthood for false hysteria

Planned Parenthood accuses NBC of not airing Obvious Child movie with word abortion

According to The Wrap it was “an individual to [sic] knowledge of the situation” who whispered in its ear that NBC was refusing to air an ad for the pro-abortion movie Obvious Child if it included the word “abortion.”

At Bustle this news came ”according to The Wrap,” i.e., Chinese telephone.

It was “sources” who told the New York Post’s Page 6 and “a source [who] told Page 6” when the rumor jumped across the pond to The Daily Mail.

Finally, the source revealed itself to The Hill as Planned Parenthood Action Fund (although NARAL was the source elsewhere), and to its credit, The Hill properly investigated and shot Planned Parenthood’s false hysteria down (even if the post’s title perpetuated the abortion giant’s Pinnochio):

NBC said the Planned Parenthood group has its facts wrong.

“No final spots were submitted to NBC broadcast standards for on-air consideration and NBC Broadcast Advertising Sales was never contacted about a media buy on NBC for spots related to this movie,” said a spokeswoman for NBCUniversal.

“Moreover, initial feedback from our broadcast standards group did not include any suggestion to remove a specific word.”

Planned Parenthood is substantially invested in Obvious Child, not only because it was “consulted heavily” during the making of the movie but also because it played a part….

That’s all aside from the huge propaganda factor, since Obvious Child seeks to normalize and even joke about abortion.

But The Hill didn’t stop with calling out Planned Parenthood there;  it also shot down the organization for falsely accusing NBC of “editing out a joke that referred to abortion in its show Last Comic Standing. Full footage of the joke revealed that the edited word was referring to oral sex, not abortion,” as Jezebel details a bit more.

Whether or not Planned Parenthood’s false hysteria regarding the A-word and Obvious Child was intentional, it did achieve the goal of getting the movie lots of “earned media,” or free press.

But the hysteria is also telling. On the defensive much, Planned Parenthood?

Pro-life vid of day: 6-year-old girl’s parents say she’s a boy

Ryland-Whittingtonby Kelli

From People.com comes the story of Jeff and Hillary Whittington, who had a little girl named Ryland. But Ryland very soon insisted that she was a little boy:

Around the time Ryland turned 1 in 2008, Jeff and Hillary were informed their daughter was deaf and the family began the process of fitting their little one with a cochlear implant.

It was not long after receiving the implant that Ryland began to be able to speak – and she had something to say.

“As soon as Ryland could speak, she would scream, ‘I’M A BOY,'” reads the text on the video posted on the Whittington family’s YouTube page. “She began to show aversion to anything feminine.”

At first, the family would refer to Ryland as a “tomboy” but it soon became evident to Jeff and Hillary that their child’s proclivity toward activities and clothing more commonly associated with boys was not just “a phase.”

When Ryland began presenting increased amounts of shame because of how she felt, her parents started researching the statistics of attempted suicide rates among transgendered people and were alarmed to find that they were more than 10 times the national average. It was then that the couple decided to fully embrace Ryland’s identity.

“She said, ‘When the family dies, I will cut my hair so I can be a boy,’ ” the seven-minute video says. “Through tears, she asked, ‘Why did God make me this way?'”

Despite the fact that the family knew it would lose a few friends, they sent a letter to those close to them stating that Ryland would now be referred to with male pronouns and was allowed to cut his hair and wear boys’ clothes.

Thoughts?

Pro-abortion graphic novel author claims it’s “not political”

pro-abortion graphicby Carder

The main thing for me is that I don’t really want to offer this graphic novel as a political stance on abortion…. I have my feelings about it, obviously, but that was not my intention. In fact I make a point to start the book where the girls find out that they are pregnant, and I don’t address how or where or why. It doesn’t matter in this book.

I wanted to illustrate JUST that time, from when you make an appointment to when you are “done” and going back to every day life. A lot happens during that period of time that is not political, just doing what you need to do, and dealing with the emotional ups and downs of having surgery.
